The annual Charlie Ward Memorial Pig Out is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14 from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Pavilion at McCreery Park. This barbecue in Saluda was started many years ago by Charlie Ward to thank residents for patronizing his store. Ward passed away Aug. 1, 2008. This event has become a town tradition. Some Polk County farmers suffered major crop losses this year as higher than normal rains soaked the area. Polk County’s squash and cucum-
