Sue McDaniel was born in Durban, South Africa where her father was in charge of the flying boats for Imperial Airways.
He opened up the Horseshoe Route for mail from England to the outposts of the empire. McDaniel’s family then moved to Johannesburg, where she was sent off to the primary and middle schools.
