ongratulations, Class of 2020! I’m sure the past four years have not been easy — spending long nights cramming for finals, dealing with pop quizzes first thing in the morning, trying to find a way to squeeze in time for a social life between homework and your shifts at your part-time job, etc. The trials and tribulations of your teenage years all come to a head, however, when your name is finally called and you receive that new diploma, officially ushering you and your classmates into adulthood. Sure, graduation may seem kind of hokey — those caps and gowns aren’t going to land you on the front cover of GQ or Cosmo anytime soon — but it’s a celebration of how far you all have come over the past 18 years of your life. Take pride in your growth, and make sure to thank the teachers, mentors and your friends and family who helped shape you into the young adult you are today. While your futures may take you across the country — or perhaps across the globe — don’t ever forget your roots. There’s always a place called home for you here in our Foothills. I
t is my distinct honor to introduce the Landrum High School Class of 2020. I have had the privilege of watching this group of students grow into young men and women who are prepared for the exciting new journeys ahead of them. The milestone of high school graduation is one of the most exciting events in life, which presents unlimited opportunities. This has been anything but an ordinary senior year for the Class of 2020. While we are uncertain of many things, disappointed in many things, and challenged by changing norms, I have great confidence in knowing that the Class of 2020 is the future of America. That gives me peace and confidence. Whether our students are headed off to college or into the workforce, they will have endless opportunities to utilize their unique and individualized experiences to make a positive difference and impact change. On behalf of Spartanburg One and the Board of Trustees, I would like to celebrate and recognize the hard work, accomplishments, sacrifices, and successes of each and every one of the 2020 graduates of Landrum High School. POLK COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL 2020 Senior Class To the Class of 2020: On behalf of the Polk County Board of Education and all of Polk County Schools, I want to congratulate our Polk County High School and Polk County Early College graduates, the Class of 2020. This is a very special time of year for you seniors and your families, and for us as teachers and staff. It is rewarding to see the culmination of your hard work, and we feel fortunate to have played a part in preparing you for a productive future. Commencement marks an end and a beginning. The coming weeks will go by quickly, as you finish exams, attend awards nights and prepare for graduation ceremonies. Take some time to reflect on the effort and commitment it has taken to get you to this point. Take pride in your accomplishments and realize you will need the same dedication and resolve to be successful going forward. I would also encourage you to join me in thanking your families, your communities, and the Polk County Schools educators who have helped you reach your goals.
