END OF YEAR TRADITIONS

At Tattnall, we love our traditions: they’re what make us who we are. We love coming to the spring musicals and award ceremonies; graduations and end-of-year parties. But, with distance learning and a lot of uncertainty, many of these traditions had to shift this year, and in a lot of ways, it made the memories even more special.

We held a Kindergarten Drive-Through Graduation parade so the students could see their friends (from a distance) and be celebrated for their accomplishments. They dressed up in their graduation attire, decked out their cars in celebration gear, hung out of windows and sunroofs, and had an unconventional but great time ushering in the move to first grade.

Seniors had a heap of new memories made. Many of them were able to come show appreciation for their teachers during teacher in-service. We had a Spring Sports Senior Night parade where senior spring athletes decorated their cars, drove through the parking lot, and were cheered on for their accomplishments by parents and friends. Cardboard testimonies were given outside and socially-distanced, followed by single-family parking spot picnics. We celebrated the Moving Up ceremony virtually, and friends and family members from far and wide were able to congratulate our students on a fantastic 2019-2020 school year and the accolades they received.

Last but not least, we held graduation when it was safe to do so at a location near and dear to the class of 2020: Jack Baynes Field. Students got to mark the end of their unconventional, memorable last year as a Trojan on campus as they were launched into their futures.
