WELCOME TO THE HOME OF THE INTERNATIONAL VATS SYMPOSIUM 2016 A fully interactive comprehensive symposium that covers all aspects of modern minimally invasive surgery. Providing all the elements to develop a successful advanced VATS programme including expert techniques. We will discuss the technical aspects of the most challenging procedures with international experts and share your most difficult cases with a knowledgeable and skilled faculty. This postgraduate course emphasises the use of video-based education and in-depth discussion of technical details. The interactive course will provide all the elements needed to develop a successful advanced minimally programme including expert

techniques with particular focus on single port, robotic and nonintubated surgery. Delegates are invited to discuss the technical aspects of the most challenging procedures with international experts and share their most difficult cases with a knowledgeable and skilled faculty. Training: After attending this programme delegates will be able to: Describe the advantages and technical considerations associated with the minimally invasive strategies in the management of basic and complex thoracic disorders; Discuss the conduct of minimally invasive thoracic surgery through analysis and critique of videos; Explain the process by

which technically advanced procedures may be Incorporated into surgical practice; Have had practical experience of performing a single port VATS procedure. Discuss topical issues, emerging techniques, and future directions in minimally invasive thoracic surgery. Why you are here: This programme is designed to meet the continuing educational needs of thoracic surgeons, as well as others who may assist thoracic surgeons in practice. Webtlab: We have 24 places for Wetlab which you can now book along side your VATS Symposium 2016 ticket. Wetlab is dedicated to hands on surgical training development and assessment working closely with industry and National health service hospitals in Britain and Ireland.

We will have on hand the adward winning Fasotec BIOTEXTURE Surgical Training System Thoracoscopy. The system provides a realistic surgical environment. Commonly, surgeons use simple anatomy models made of plastics or live animals for training. However, skills/ techniques acquirable through the programs are far insufficient to participate in real

surgery, and animal labs also raise ethical issues. Our system is made based on 3D CT data of average Asian patients, allowing trainees to practice under lifelike condition. The replicated organs generate a feel of cutting, burning, and stitching real ones. Our goal is for surgeons to gain confidence through training, providing patients security.

WE ARE ENDORSED BY THE EUROPEAN SOCIETY OF THORACIC SURGEONS AND HAVE BEEN ACCREDITED BY THE SCTS EDUCATION. WE ARE ALSO PLEASED TO HAVE BEEN ADWARD 12 HOURS OF CPD FROM THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF SURGEONS OF EDINBURGH 4
