Welcome to Our Church! A message from Pastor Marty
CONNECTING TO GOD At FAC, we hope you enter into experiences that you just can’t have very easily — church. For example, I really hope we help you into a worship experience with God. We hope our music, preaching, God at Work stories, and all we do in the weekend services help you connect to God deeply in personal worship with Him. CONNECTING TO GOD’S PEOPLE We also desire that you will find friends who are so close to you that they are your family. I want you to experience all that Laurie and I as well as hundreds of others experience, which is what the Bible calls fellowship. We feel a deep and lasting closeness with the people at this church. That closeness makes our life journey more meaningful in practical ways than we ever could have dreamed. CONNECTING TO GOD’S WORK Finally, our goal is not just that we go to church, but also that we are the church to the culture around us and to the world. We want to bring the realization of The Gospel to the poor and needy as well as to the wealthy and comfortable. People need the Lord, and our assignment from God is to help them find Him. So when you connect to FAC you are connecting to God, His people, and a movement that He has been doing through history to change the world. Join us! All the ministries in the Connecting Guide are designed to help you connect. May the Lord guide you to join us in being this church together.
Love never fails,

I’m human, and I make mistakes and often take the good things in my life for granted. I pray that Men’s Ministries at FAC never becomes one of those good things! A few synonyms for “transformation” are, changeover, metamorphosis, transfiguration, and conversion. Through my involvement with Men’s Ministries, my life has been transformed and will never be the same. As a leader in Men’s Ministries, I routinely have the awesome privilege of witnessing men’s lives transform. This is what I call, “life to the full”! — Dave Wirth

One of the smartest things I have done in my life was to get into the Catalyst Men's Groups. Prior to getting into this group my career and money were a much larger part of my life than they should have been. Through CMG, I learned what it means to live the life of a Godly man. I learned what it means to be a Godly husband and to put my wife first and to have a marriage the way God designed. I learned what it meant to be a Godly father — and started to have weekly breakfasts and lunches with my daughter. No doubt the growth groups completely changed my life as I pursued a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. The best friends I have today are the Godly men that I met in these groups, my brothers that God gave me to go through life with. If you're a man and you're not in a Catalyst Men’s Group, you should get in one. It will be the best three years of your life! — Doug Bazigian

Before being a part of a discipleship group, I struggled with making friendships with women. I remember one week asking God how I really know He loves me. I was pulling out of the church driveway after class that week, and He hit me with it. I saw that He had put those women in my life, and I was seeing His love each week through them. This is what the discipleship group has meant to me. Seeing God alive in other people and changing all of us to be more like Him together.

Women@FAC Deepening Groups | Walking in Grace
Deepening Groups A Deepening group offers an accepting, long-term, safe community that allows its members the freedom for open and honest sharing. The groups work together to explore transformation through a four-component spiritual formation process:
1.
Adopting the Narratives of Jesus - which will most likely involve challenging and changing your understanding (narratives) of who God is and who you are to God as Jesus reveals His Father to us.
Practicing Soul Training Exercises - which are designed to deepen and enrich our minds, body, and soul with a true knowledge of the character of God through a spiritual formation process.
2.
“My Deeping Group has become a very special part of my life, and I am learning about God as a loving Father and Creator. The books used in the group are treasures that I enjoy reading, but it is the sharing of my heart with the other women in the group that is the best blessing. Through this group I have learned to experience God's presence and grace and the discipline of being still before the Lord. This group has set me on a path to become more Christ-like in my daily life.” — Linda Eaton
3.
Participating in Community – We were designed in the image of God by God to live, love, grow, heal, and thrive in a Christian community. Community development is the centerpiece of The Deepening ministry. Group members come to expect and rely on the encouragement, affirmations, acceptance and challenges of the Christian community shared within the Deepening groups. Transformation Empowered by the Holy Spirit – The components of change happen when the work of the Holy Spirit is in the midst of them. The Deepening groups embrace the Holy Spirit as our essential advocate who navigates us through the process of transformation. Together we seek to increase our ability to hear, trust, respond to, and utterly rely on the Spirit’s guidance and direction.
4.
If you have been led to seek a group that will encourage and challenge you to become the person God created you to be and if you desire to support and serve others to become all that God intended them to be and if you are driven to pursue your place and purpose in the Kingdom of God, The Deepening is designed to offer that and more. JOINING A DEEPENING GROUP As a participant in a Deepening group, you will meet weekly at the same time and same place as a way to develop a deepening community experience. To maximize this experience, your commitment to meet on an ongoing, regular basis is necessary.
To start the process of joining a Deepening group, go to www.myfac.org, click “Get Connected” – “For Women” – “Deepening Groups,” and complete the Deepening Group Participant Interest Form.
Once your form is submitted, you will be contacted by a Group Facilitator and matched with a group.
Deepening groups are formed as facilitators become available, which may take up to three months.
If after reading the information provided on the website you have questions or concerns about the Deepening experience, contact Carol Batten, carol@myfac.org, or Lisa Kletkewicz, 2boys4life@comcast.net.

Women’s Events “At a women’s event I nailed my burden of my daughter’s drug addiction to the cross and relinquished control to the Lord and abandoned myself into His care.” — Karen Waters

We will be holding events throughout the year for the women within our church, their friends, family, and our community. It is our prayer that these events will help women fully experience God’s grace! THE FIRST SPECIAL EVENT Our first event will be held on Fri., Oct. 3, at 7:00 p.m., at FAC. There will be worship, time for fellowship, and a wonderful speaker! There will also be yummy desserts! Please join us and bring some friends!

Preschool KBS Making a Difference By Rosemary Walsh Our faithful preschool KBS workers are committed to letting the children know that God loves them. We asked Rosemary Walsh to tell us what happens in a typical kindergarten class. From the very beginning of the year, we begin teaching the children the importance of bringing their Bibles with them to church. We also teach the importance of an offering. If they remember their Bibles, they receive a B on their take-home bag; if they remember to bring an offering, they receive a star on their bag. The offering can be a penny; it doesn't matter how much it is. Once or twice a year, we vote as a class on how we want to use the offerings we have brought. In our kindergarten class, the children begin class by coloring a picture that has the theme of our Bible lesson for that day. Then they make a craft. After that, they come together in our Bible Circle to sing and to learn about the lesson. The Bible Circle is the main focus of our class. When the children listen carefully and can answer questions about the lesson or tell us what the lesson means, they earn ribbons, which can be traded the following week for a prize. In addition, they practice a Bible verse each week and usually have it memorized with physical motions within the month. We always emphasize that God loves each one of them and wants them to love each other. We learn to read God's promises and His rules for all of us. In our kindergarten class, we practice special greetings such as Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Easter, and our most important, Count on God No Matter What and Pray Always. WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF A KBS PRESCHOOLER? There are many ways to serve! We need: ▶ Behind-the-scenes help with preparing crafts or projects, decorating bulletin boards, and organizing rooms and supplies ▶ Greeters to guide new families to the appropriate class location ▶ Assistants to small group leaders (provides an opportunity to interact with preschoolers and build relationships) ▶ Small group leaders who build relationships with the preschoolers and help them apply the lessons through various activities ▶ Large group leaders who present the Bible lesson for the day in a real and personal way ▶ Hosts who introduce the lessons in a way that connects the children to what they are about to hear from the Bible ▶ Worship leaders who help involve the children in a time of worship and Bible verse review For more information, contact Jane Beebe, jane@myfac.org, or 609-953-7333, x101.

JOY For retirement-aged men and women
You’re Invited! Join us on Sept. 11 as we begin our fall semester. Lunch will be served at 12:30. We will be showing a video based on the book, In My Seat. It is the compelling story of a pilot who was bumped at the last minute from American Airline Flight 11, the first plane that hit the World Trade Center on 9/11. The story is very moving and gives a clear presentation of the Gospel. Invite your neighbors and friends to join you.
JOY Meeting Schedule SEPT. 11, 18, 25 OCT. 9, 16, 23 NOV. 13, 20 DEC. 18
Join us as we grow together in our connections to God, His people, and His work. JOY can help give you meaning and purpose.

Connecting to God’s
IN IRAQ REFLECTIONS ON THE HUDDLESTONS’ VISIT This summer, we were pleased to host Larry and Barbara Huddleston who have just returned from two years of serving in Iraq. Larry has been serving as the pastor of the International Church (IC) in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. On Sunday afternoon in the Chapel, several former team members and Larry and Barbara spoke about the IC. From meeting in a hotel ballroom to several land deals that didn’t work out to now owning land and a building, God has shown them exactly where He wants the church to be located. Larry and Barbara also spoke about the many relationships that were started while serving there. Both current and former team members continued their time of discussion at Camp FAC. As part of FAC’s desire to connect to God’s work, please pray for the IC in Sulaymaniyah as they are waiting for the Minister of Religion to sign the deed. Pray for Brad and Lauren Trosen. Brad will begin serving as IC pastor in the fall. Pray, too, for all of God’s people and His work in Iraq.

Work... IN SOUTHERN AFRICA REFLECTIONS FROM DOUG BAZIGIAN When I think about Connecting to God, Connecting to God’s people and Connecting to God’s work as they relate to my trip to Southern Africa (SA), so many things come to mind. I’ve grown the most in my spiritual walk when God has used me to further His Kingdom and has taken me far outside of my comfort zone into places I’ve never been — out of the boat and onto the water. It’s such a privilege to be used by God. He doesn’t need me to accomplish His purposes, but out of His love He chooses to. One night in Southern Africa, we worked with the homeless. We stopped at several places to give them soup, bread, and the Gospel. At three of the four stops that night, I personally led someone to Christ. All glory to God to be used by Him in that way. What a blessing and a privilege. God also was able to get one of the men to our conference later in the week. He not only found his way to the church, but came to a conference on leadership. God is amazing! I also realized during my trip how busy we are here in America running from event to event. A good friend that I met in SA put it this way, “God leads you up to the top of the mountain to spend time with Him. You no sooner get there, and you are already planning how you’re going to get down.” That really caused me to pause. He’s right. As a culture, we are way too busy. As I connected to other brothers and sisters at Living Waters Church, I learned a lot about them, about God, and about myself. “Be still and know that I am God.” Our team went to SA primarily to conduct a conference on leadership. I think we were hoping that maybe 10 people might show up that we could train and mentor. Be careful what you pray for! More than 60 people showed up. We had prayed that God would go before us and prepare all of the hearts, and He did. The engagement level of our audience was well beyond anything I had expected, and in most cases English was not their first language. No doubt my faith, trust, reliance, and dependence on God grew significantly on this trip. I personally witnessed so many answered prayers. He even answered prayers I hadn’t prayed yet! How’s that for an amazing God! If God is prompting you to go to SA, please consider it. You’ll be glad you did! Note: Another team is in SA, Aug. 29 to Sept. 9. Pray for God’s guidance and protection. For information about our ministry in SA, go to www.myfac.org/FASA. If you would like to be included in updates as they occur, sign up to be a part of the FASA group on The Hub.

The Benevolent Center FOOD PANTRY The Food Pantry has had such a positive impact on many people in our community. From out-ofwork dads, to single moms, even to people living in their car or a motel room, we know God is the One who brings each person or family through our doors. We not only have the opportunity to provide bags of groceries but also to pray with them and assure them that God loves them and so do the people of FAC. We care about them. We watch in amazement at God’s provision for our clients — through Shop Rite one Sunday a month, Johnson’s Corner each Wednesday, and the ongoing generosity of the people of FAC. We even have a Girl Scout Troop ready to do a food drive for us! You can help by placing items in the bins in the church hallway. Items such as spaghetti sauce, pasta, peanut butter and jelly, cereal, canned fruit and vegetables, and tuna are always in demand. It is also evident that only God could have brought together the group of volunteers for the Food Pantry. Each has his/her own special gift, but yet our hearts are the same: to help, love, pray for and encourage the hurting people who come to us and to do the same for each other. Christian friendships that have developed are strong and a blessing to each one of us. God is at work in the Food Pantry, and He does not ever disappoint! Come and check us out. Our volunteer hours are Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (2-hour shifts), and one Sunday a month. We are also in need of a couple to serve Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30.
I accidentally went to a Benevolent Center orientation meeting and during the next year of volunteering my life changed. I am an Air Force wife and stay-at-home mother, but I knew God had been calling me to serve. At the orientation, I heard about the Food Pantry ministry that serves the FAC family and community. I felt completely ill-equipped at first, but after a few weeks I couldn’t wait to serve again. Most clients just need someone to show them compassion and to guide them through their difficult situation. Serving three hours a week made me feel energized and spiritually fulfilled. I hope that I have made a difference in the lives of the clients because they have impacted mine. I now understand that God is calling me to be a social worker and I start school this fall. The other volunteers are amazing, and I truly honor their friendship and spiritual guidance. Looking back, our military assignment to NJ was the shortest we ever had. I truly feel that God placed us in South Jersey so I could find FAC and its vision to help people hear God’s call and follow it. — Victoria Huss
