Happy Holidays and Best Wishes for 2016

Student Opportunities Career Placement The Rawls College prepares students for success in the workplace. Throughout the 2014-15 academic year, the Career Management Center boasted record-breaking placement numbers. For the first time in the college’s history, both undergraduate and graduate student placement rates reached 90 percent. Career placement services are tailored to respond to industry trends, and recruiter feedback continues to be positive. In fact, the fall 2015 Career Expo was the largest one in the college’s history, with over 140 companies in attendance.

Study Abroad With over 20 percent of the Rawls College’s student body studying abroad, compared the national average of less than one percent, our students understand how business is impacted on a global level. The Center for Global Engagement works with academic areas to offer a variety of business-relevant study abroad opportunities. From faculty-led programs to reciprocal exchange programs, students can enhance both the skills and knowledge needed to be an innovative, diverse leader in society. In 2015, the number of students participating in study abroad increased by almost 35 percent from the previous year.

Scholarships The Rawls College believes students should have the opportunity for a quality collegiate experience. Through the donation and support of donors and friends, the Rawls College established 25 new endowed scholarships for students. Additionally, the college created new study abroad scholarships, with the generous support of the McKenzie Scholarship Endowment, to support our strategic goals.

Alumni Network Rawls Raiders A strong alumni base provides Rawls College graduates valuable resources for post-graduation success. In an effort to strengthen the alumni network in local communities, the Rawls College launched the Rawls Raiders Alumni Network. Rawls Raiders provides networking opportunities and helps grow the alumni presence in targeted cities across Texas. Rawls Raiders also enables alumni to stay connected with the college by collaborating, mentoring, and participating in activities with current students.

Scholarship Events Alumni support has been vital to the Rawls College’s success. Established scholarship events throughout Texas are some of the ways alumni stay engaged. These events bring together alumni and friends to help raise money for student scholarships. Annual scholarship events are currently hosted in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio, with more locations being planned for 2016.

Presence Big Dig 11 To both enhance student learning and accommodate growing enrollment, the Rawls College is expanding its physical presence. This summer, the college began a three-story, approximately 38,000-square-foot building expansion. The new wing will house four classrooms, a state-of-the-art testing center, a behavioral research lab, and a multipurpose space for events and guest speakers. This additional space will also add more faculty and doctoral student offices, a new office for study abroad, private study rooms for students, a conference room for student organizations, seminar rooms for doctoral students, “think tank rooms, and an outdoor courtyard.
