Being selected as a KPMG professor is a great honor. The KPMG professorship will allow me to increase the breadth and depth of leadership and support to both graduate and undergraduate students. Additionally, holding the KPMG professorship gives me the f lexibility to expand my research capabilities significantly.
J UA N M A N U E L S A N C H E Z, Ph.D. Dr. Juan Manuel Sanchez, an associate professor of Accounting and director of the Ph.D. program at the Rawls College of Business, was recently named as the KPMG professor in Accounting. His research interests include firm valuation, corporate governance, executive compensation, sustainability, and business value of information technology. Sanchez serves as an editor for the Journal of Information Systems and has published articles in leading accounting and finance journals such as The Accounting Review, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Accounting Horizons and the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy. Sanchez previously served as an associate professor of Accounting at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. Before his academic career, he serve as an area manager of profitability analysis for AT&T (formally SBC Communications) and as a staff auditor for Deloitte. Sanchez earned his Ph.D. in 2006 from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is married to Daniela, with whom he has five children: Emiliano, Andres, Lucas, Santiago and Sofia.
