COMMUNITY OPEN SPACE

PROJECT NAME: Xiaolongkan Square (Individual) LOCATION: Chongqing, China DATE: May. 2017 - Jun. 2017 ABOUT SUBJECT: This urban public space design, in Xiaolongkan Chongqing, is trying to provide an interesting community area for the surrounding neighborhood. Based on several site visits, interviews with local residents, and inspirations from Chongqing’s landform, the site is designed to accommodate various people’s needs, create spaces and level changes for people to experience and enjoy the site character. Model-making is to explore the spatial relationship of the site, plus planting structure to create comfortable micro-climate environment.

Chongqing has lots of MOUNTAINS and SLOPS. People’s feeling of walking in the street is like climbing mountains.

Connect two areas which were separated by river. Make full use of the space, which was under the bridge, to create the second layer of space for rail transportation.

STRATEGY

I EXERCISE CHAT and DANCE with my friends in the site everyday. Sometimes we will be HIT by pedestrians especially when we dance. The site do not have enough CHAIRS for us to sit and talk.

Divide space reasonably to increase relax and entertainment space. Creating a soft border with curves.

PROJECT NAME: Urban Riverbank Park (Individual) LOCATION: Quebec, Canada DATE: Mar. 2016 - Apr. 2016 ABOUT SUBJECT: The chosen site is an abandon riverbank park with rich ecological values. This design is to activate this abandon park by creating bird watching points, cycling routes, and a nature museum. RetroďŹ tting the railway logistic area into a mixed-use mini container shopping mall. Connecting the design site with surrounding Climbing Club and Aquarium, making St. Lawrence riverbank into an active and diverse area.

PROJECT NAME: Iron Line Park (Individual) LOCATION: Chengdu, Sichuan, China DATE: Nov. 2016 - Dec. 2016 ABOUT SUBJECT: This design is to retroďŹ t a brown-ďŹ eld into an urban green park. Due to urban renewal of Chengdu city, the abandoned and fragmented rail freight logistic site has been planned by local government as a green public park to service the neighborhood community. It allows the site to keep its industrial culture, while providing environmental-friendly space for residents.

PROJECT NAME: Kaifeng Water Park (Individual) LOCATION: Kaifeng, Henan, China DATE: Sept. 2016 - Oct. 2016 ABOUT SUBJECT: The park design in Kaifeng Park is to design a city park for recreational as well as ecological values. It creates various dierent programs as well as terrain experiences for diverse riverbank experiences. There is also ecological concerns for rainwater management. Permeable paving is one of the strategy to reduce water pollution.
