Z OOB JSPDIB UVDTPOXFFLMZ2UVDTPOMPDBMNFEJB DPN DRINKING IN THE BOY’S ROOM SAN XAVIER BEAT JUNE 29, 4 P.M. A man used a Walmart restroom as his own personal tomato-and-clam-flavored beer bar, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Department report. A sheriff’s deputy met with a Walmart loss prevention officer who’d seen the man—short and thin, with “a semblance of a mustache and dressed in dark clothing—boldly carrying a four-pack of Bud Light Chelado (“clamato beer) straight past the pharmacy and into the men’s bathroom, where he spent “quite some time before finally exiting the bathroom without the beer. A sales associate said she’d later gone into the restroom to find numerous empty clamato cans; the store also had security-camera footage showing the man going in there with the beer (and leaving without it). The subject obviously hadn’t made a great effort to flee the scene, since the reporting deputy immediately located him wandering around a nearby Safeway parking lot. Upon being apprehended and questioned, the man admitted he’d been inside the Walmart, but only to buy some candy. When asked what type of candy, he said “beef jerky. The deputy told him “that was not typically considered a candy. The man was no longer in possession of the beef jerky, so perhaps he’d been snacking on it in the bathroom while he drank his clamato. At this point, the man started to get agitated, saying he “did not know what (the deputy) wanted from him and exclaiming, “Just do what you have to do! The deputy cited and released the man for shoplifting. ONE WOMAN’S BAD DAY, ANOTHER’S BAD HAIR DAY SAN XAVIER BEAT JUNE 10, 3:37 P.M. A woman randomly took her personal problems out on an unfortunate female convenience-store clerk— screaming, throwing things and even pulling out the clerk’s hair, a PCSD report stated. A deputy responded to the southwest-side store and met with two women clerks, who said a small, tattooed Caucasian female had just tried to buy a pack of Newports, but her ID card had expired, so the first clerk (who was serving her) couldn’t let her buy them. In response, both reportees said, the woman suddenly lost control, loudly cussing at the first clerk and reaching over the counter to grab her hair, some of which she did manage to yank out. Then the woman allegedly went around the sales counter to pick up a sizable credit card display and hurled it at both clerks, sending cards flying at them and spewing them all over the floor. The clerks said the woman then got into a silver car and sped away. Another deputy was able to get the car’s licenseplate number from a photograph taken by the clerks, and located the subject through her boyfriend (who owned and had been driving the car). The woman said she’d been upset that day over a child-support issue, which “kind of set her off. She was cited and released for criminal damage and assault. Q

The answer is right there inside the hotel-casino. Big portions—from the salad through dessert—are the norm. Steaks are the draw, of course, but seafood options are also quite worthy. The service is friendly, and the prices at the bar are most reasonable. (5-8-08) $$$

The only problem with this northeast side bar and grill is that there isn’t a beach nearby. Although after a few cold brews and a couple of tacos, you may just hear the faint sound of waves crashing on the shore. The food here is down-to-earth, and there are plenty of seafood choices. From the oysters Ensenada on the starter menu to the clever pangas— grilled romaine lettuce boats, Fini’s does it right.
