With a knowledge of historic architecture -- particularly American vernacular -- I am a versatile designer who engages with the business, the art, and the history of architecture.

Tulane School of Architecture: M. Architecture I + Master of Preservation Studies New Orleans, LA | Fall 2016 - Spring 2019

Several of my design projects have considered the abstraction of historic forms in contemporary design, and I have a particular interest in restoration, adaptive reuse, and design in historic contexts. From a dual major in Preservation, additional technical skills and approaches to the existing built environment were gained. Serving as a teaching assistant in three separate architectural history/theory courses required a mastery of the material in order to grade students’ essays and written exams and lead group discussions on assigned readings.

Franklin & Marshall College: Bachelor of Arts in Government Lancaster, PA | Fall 2008 - Spring 2012

Phi Beta Kappa | Magna cum laude | Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society In addition to political science, I pursued a special interest in architectural history and studio art in multiple elective courses. Awarded the Sidney Wise Public Service Internship Scholarship, which supported an internship in the U.S. House of Representatives. Resident assistant in a first-year dormitory required leadership and responsibility. Preceptor (teaching assistant) in the American Government 100 Writing Seminar. I edited student papers, hosted workshops to mentor students on writing style and substance, and facilitated class discussions on current discourse within the study of American politics.

Experience Practicum with Koch & Wilson Architects New Orleans, LA | May 2018 - August 2018

Coinciding with my M. Arch. and M. Preservation education, I shadowed the firm’s partners and observed the nature of the business of architecture. Highlights of my experience included construction site evaluation at all stages of a project, working on schematic document sets using B.I.M. software, and performing research and editing for a forthcoming book on architecture authored by the firm’s president.

Paralegal | Crowell & Moring LLP Washington, DC | July 2012 - August 2016

As part of the firm’s tort practice, I researched and analyzed a diverse range of topics including legal procedures and long, complex corporate histories of several venerable firm clients. As part of business development and client service, I drafted reports on trends in the litigation landscape. In addition to attorneys, I worked with professionals at all levels inside and outside the organization including training new hires and maintaining relationships with outside counsel, clerks of court, and litigation support vendors. Invaluable professional experience was gained, and I was consistently recognized for my precision and curiosity.

Intern | United States House of Representatives Washington, DC | May - August 2011

This summer internship in the office of a congressman from Pennsylvania allowed me to gain real-world knowledge of the dynamics of American government and politics. Communicating daily with constituents, addressing their concerns and requests, and leading tours of the U.S. Capitol proved to be an experience of a lifetime.
