MISSION STATEMENT The misson of the ASC is to guide, support, and inspire student-athletes in their pursuit of excellence. We provide quality academic/life skills education and support for all stuentathletes at Tulane. Additionally, ASC aims to promote student-athlete academic achievement, community responsibility, and personal accountability. In doing so, our department believes in preparing student-athletes for the vast array of opportunities that will be presented in the future.

Finally, ASC works to ensure that all student-athletes maintain NCAA continuing eligibility with regard to overall GPA, earned hours, and percentage of degree requirements.

TUTORING SERVICES The primary goal of the ASC Tutor / Educational Assistance program is to provide student-athletes with academic assistance beyond the classroom. The ASC employs a number of Tulane graduate and highachieving undergraduate students to serve the studentathlete population as either subject-specific tutors or in mentorship roles as Educational Assistants (EA’s).

TUTORS Provide interactive, objective based tutoring, as well as subject specific study techniques. Tutors are undergraduate students, graduate / professional level students, or doctoral students.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANTS Support student-athletes with additional academic support to strengthen time management, organization, and study skills. Educational Assistants are either graduate / professional level.

Tulane men’s basketball earned the American Athletic Conference Team Academic Excellence Award for the first time in program history. The honor is given annually to one of the conference’s 12 institutions sponsoring men’s basketball that achieves the highest cumulative grade point average. Tulane women’s indoor and outdoor track and field teams were awarded the American Athletic Conference Team Academic Excellence Award, earning the honor for averaging the league’s highest cumulative grade-point average.

GREEN WAVE IN THE COMMUNITY During the 2017-2018 academic year, Tulane Green Wave studentathletes completed over 3,000+ hours of community service. Greatly increasing the total number of hours from the previous year while also having 100% of Tulane’s athletics teams participate in at least one community service endeavor. Tulane finished 15th overall in the 2018 Helper Helper and NCAA® Team Works™ Competition. During this time period, Tulane student-athletes performed over 800 hours of community service.

Kaitlin Simpson Swimming and Diving

Capping off her stellar career at Tulane, senior swimmer Kaitlin Simpson has been selected to participate in the NCAA’s Career in Sports Forum. The NCAA welcomes just 200 student-athletes annually to participate in the forum out of its more than 460,000 total student-athletes across the country.

Constantin Schmitz Men’s Tennis

Constantin was named the American Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Scholar Athlete of the Year. Majoring in Management, Schmitz has achieved a 3.149 G.P.A. through his four years at Tulane.

Lauren Bartels Women’s Cross Country

Lauren was named the American Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year. Majoring in Chemical Engineering, Bartels has achieved a 3.991 G.P.A. through her four years at Tulane.
