OPENING SERVE
• Tulane (2-5) brings action back home to New Orleans this weekend as the Green Wave open American Athletic Conference play with back-to-back matches against Memphis (3-1). • The Olive and Blue will face the Tigers on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. This weekend’s matches will be streamed live on ESPN+, with Andrew Beyer serving as the play-by-play commentator and five-time Olympian Danielle Scott serving as the color analyst. • In their last time out, Tulane fell to now 6-0 UCF (3-1) in both matches in Orlando, moving to 2-5 on the season. • Senior outside hitter Lexie Douglas is leading the Green Wave offensively heading into conference action, totaling 92 kills to average 3.41 per set. Douglas has notched double-digit kills in six of Tulane’s seven matches in 2021, notching a season-high 17 last weekend against the Knights, while also earning four double-doubles this season. The senior leads the conference in total points with 110.0, ranking sixth with 4.07 points per set. • Also recording three double-doubles this season is junior setter Amanda Giardina, who has totaled a team-leading 150 assists and 68 digs. • A force for the Green Wave’s offense in 2021 is junior middle hitter Kayla Dinkins. Dinkins has recorded double-digit kills in three matches this season, most recently notching 13 kills while hitting .478 at UCF. The third-year middle also adds 28 blocks, ranking fifth in the AAC with an average of 1.07 per set. • Junior outside hitter Makala Heidelberg leads the Olive and Blue in digs, totaling 120 in her third season Uptown. Heidelberg currently ranks fourth in the conference with 4.88 per set. Following her is freshman outside hitter Mackenzie Martin with 82 digs, also adding 69 kills. Martin has earned three double-doubles so far in her first year on the roster. • Heidelberg was named the AAC’s Defensive Player of the Week on Jan. 25 after totaling 16 digs against Southern Miss and a career-high 28 digs against UNO. • The Green Wave were picked to finish second in the West Division in the American Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Dinkins and Douglas were both named to the Preseason All-Conference Team.

Tulane has three players who have earned three or more doubledoubles in seven matches this season. Senior OH Lexie Douglas (4), junior S Amanda Giardina (3) and freshman OH Mackenzie Martin (3) are shining on the court, offensively and defensively.

The Green Wave are in their 46th season of collegiate volleyball Uptown. The program has amassed over 850 victories since the program started in 1975. In 21 of those seasons, the squad has won at least 20 games, including last season.
