Dear Mike Mignola, It’s such an honor for us to finally meet you. I bet we were totally shy. :D Your works are my biggest inspirations and Hellboy of course my favorite character of all time. I like everything about him. Adri, my wife is also a big fan of Hellboy and the show Adventure Time, her favorite character is Marceline the Vampire Queen. So I drew her this picture (on the cover) for our first Engagement Anniversary. She liked it so much and she came with this crazy and fantastic idea, “What if our wedding would be a fanart for our favorite comic book and cartoon?” This happened in spring 2015. Since then we had spent all our free time to create such a unique atmosphere for our big day, 2nd July, 2016. This is the short story of how we created our Hellboy and Adventure Time themed wedding. Adri made many concepts, these are just a few of them: interior visualization, families’ ties and her 2nd wedding dress (in Hungary brides always wear two dresses, the classic styled till midnight then a usually red dance skirt to the party). All of her ideas came true the way she dreamed. The little symbols and the couple in the circle are made for the Invitation Card’s inside.
We thought it would be so cool giving everyone figures from the comic and the show. Characters matching their owners personality. Our characters were so obvious. :) So we made 80 sketches in elegant dresses and Adri’s
wood-crafter Grandpa helped us make them raise. We hand-painted all the little fellows together with so much love. All the dining tables were different lands with the tales’ iconic buildings as wooden and painted center-pieces.
Guests had to wait while we were at our photoshoot so we tried to make them this time easier by a pixel graphic video game we have made. I borrowed a cathode ray tube monitor just for the feeling. Soon, this game will be online as a free to play game.
We made our ’Wedding Art Project’ with all our hearts putting so much energy and passion into it. So we decided in the middle of preparation to get our first tattoo. It was so special to have the same tattoos together. Of course, our rings are strange too, both black and engraved inside, mine with the Axe Bass of Marceline, hers with the Right Hand of Doom.
I designed the map and each one was hand antiqued by me. It was so sedative. :D
I sculpted the wedding cake topper digitally and 3D printed it. This is my very first sculpt in Zbrush, I’ve learned so much with this project and of course, it was a lot of fun.
