WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF TULIPOP! Tulipop is a wondrous island in the middle of two seas, governed by 3 moons. Created when a magical underwater volcano erupted many lifetimes ago, the lava formed the island that evolved into the beautiful place that is Tulipop. Loosely based on the landscapes of Iceland, Tulipop is full of waterfalls, rugged mountains, hot springs, and golden sands and is the home of six very different but equally loveable characters who work together to try and overcome the various predicaments they face. Gloomy, Bubble, Fred, Miss Maddy, Mr.Tree and Mama Skully are all totally different but utterly unique characters that each have their own skills but are not without their flaws. They are all very fond of each other but do clash on occasion due to their different outlooks and sensibilities. The heart of the series is their friendships and how they get along and have fun despite their differences.

GLOOMY The driving force behind the adventures on Tulipop, Gloomy is a nosy, brave, fun-loving mushroom girl who lives on top of Toadstool Hill where she dutifully keeps an eye on her friends on Tulipop! Some might call this spying but not Gloomy, she insists she’s just looking out for them. In addition to spying, Gloomy’s favourite pastime is developing her wizard-like qualities with her book of potions, or book of trouble as her brother Bubble likes to call it. Her potions very rarely work and you’re more likely to find her turning her pet bat Ozzy pink than making him the fastest bat in the universe!
“I’m Gloomy – I am an explorer, no….an inventor... no an adventurer….I am all of those things an exploro-inventurer. But I’m more than just that, did you know I can make the most incredible potions? The others won’t try them as they think they always go wrong, and that is not exactly true, well it is true sometimes, but who gets everything right first time?”
Gloomy’s hobbies include catching fireflies, telling ghost stories and writing very secret secrets in her diary. Her two favourite possessions are her book of potions and her cloak.

TOADSTOOL HILL Gloomy’s home that lies at the roots of Kapow the great sleeping Volcano that brought the island into existence. “I live in by far and away the best spot in Tulipop, right on top of Toadstool Hill. It has the most incredible view and with the help of my telescope I can see over the whole island, whether it’s Miss Maddy making cakes, Bubble sleeping among the mushrooms or Fred scratching himself where he shouldn’t be.” -Gloomy

BUBBLE The daydreamer of the group, mushroom boy Bubble would much rather spend his days eating blueberry pancakes, gardening and taking a nap in his hammock than galavanting across the island on adventures with his friends. But his sister Gloomy can be very persuasive and he always ends up trailing along...very slowly...at the back. One of the reasons Bubble loves to garden is because he is blessed with the ability to communicate with plants and animals. They are often the key to solving the mysteries on Tulipop so Bubble can be incredibly useful. Bubble lives in Buttercup sands on the east coast of Tulipop with his pet snail Spud. Spud is no ordinary snail, his shell changes colour depending on his mood and he superspeeds around the island leaving a trail of shimmering slime wherever he goes.
“Hello there, nice to meet you! My name is Bubblenand I’m a boy mushroom! I live in Buttercup Sands, the most perfectly beautiful spot on Tulipop. I don’t really understand why everyone here is always in such a rush, if you just sit still and listen to the birds singing and watch the flowers come out it is just as much fun as chasing after another sand monster my sister Gloomy has spotted in her telescope.”

BUTTERCUP SANDS Where Bubble lives and lovingly tends the beautiful gardens of Buttercup Sands. “I can spend all day running my garden, whether I’m trying to keep the peace between the birds and the worms or just trying to cheer up the weeping willow - it’s a full time job!“ -Bubble

FRED Snuffling around in the Forgotten Forest, you’re likely to stumble upon Fred - the smelliest, most cuddly and least threatening monster on Tulipop. He tries his hardest to be scary and tough but unfortunately for Fred, he likes knitting, is afraid of Miss Maddy’s worms and is about as brave as a chicken. Legend has it that he is part reindeer hence his magnificent glow-in-the-dark horns. Fred also boasts an incredible sense of smell which often comes in handy, although his friends do often wonder why he can’t smell how smelly he is!
“I am NOT Fredmund, as Gloomy might tell you, I am Fred! As you can probably see, I am the scariest monster on the whole of Tullipop, ever. If I saw myself in a mirror I would definitely scream. If I wasn’t a monster that is, because monsters don’t get scared, do they?”
Fred’s pets are Ping and Pong, a couple of identical black twin rabbits who no-one understands or can tell apart.

THE FORGOTTEN FOREST The dusky and dark forest where Fred lives and snuffles around with his bunny rabbits Ping and Pong. “I shuffle and snuffle around by day, and by night I sleep under the stars in the Forgotten Forest, where the trees have grown from the horns of my ancestors, constantly reminding me of what a scary monster I should be, sorry…. AM.” - Fred

MISS MADDY The most important thing you need to know about Miss Maddy is that she loves pink. Her home - Cherry Berry Fields - is pink, her clothes are pink and her biggest wish is that she herself could be pink. Miss Maddy is very talented, she is particularly good at making the most stunning show-stopping cakes and her singing voice is so beautiful it is known to have a hypnotising effect on certain creatures! All of her talents have given Miss Maddy a bit of an ego and it’s not unheard of that she throw a bit of a diva strop. Strops that her friends try to stay well clear of…
“Bonjour! I am Miss Maddy, and yes I know, I do look like a beautiful Princess. I also sing like a princess, dance like a princess and dress like a princess, it’s such a shame there’s no royal family here on Tulipop! You can never have too much pink, that is what I was thinking when I made my home in Cherry Berry Field.”
Miss Maddy has two burpy and dribbly pet worms, Wiggly and Wobbly that she calls her babies. She thinks they are the cutest things she’s ever seen, something her friends wouldn’t necessarily agree with…

MAMA SKULLY Mama Skully is the original inhabitant of Tulipop, she gushed up with the lava from Kapow during the eruption and has remained the matriarch of Tulipop ever since. Mama Skully lives with Mr.Tree up on Skull Rock and believes she was a poet in her former life and loves to treat Mr.Tree and her little friends to a verse or two as a way to divulge the secrets of Tulipop.
“Oh, my dearies, hello and welcome to my little old island. My name is Mama Skully, I think I had another name before that, before I was just a skull, but I can’t seem to recall. It was a jolly long time ago, you know. But I do remember that I was very beautiful and one of the greatest poets of my time.”
Due to being just a skull Mama Skully can’t move on her own so Mr. Tree pulls her along on her beautifully decorated Bone Wagon.Mama Skully is generally in a good mood but can turn into a grumpy old thing if her beauty sleep is disturbed. Her motto is “If the candle’s alight, I won’t bite, If the candle’s out, you’ll hear me shout!”

MR TREE Along with Mama Skully, Mr Tree is one of the oldest residents of Tulipop, after the eruption Mama Skully planted him in the magical lava and he grew and grew into the calm, loveable hovercraft of a tree that he is today. Being a magic tree, one of Mr Tree’s favourite tricks is to turn tears of joy into gemstones, his gemstone collection is particularly precious to him and the thought of anyone getting their hands on them makes him go a bit funny…
“Ho ho! Enchanting to make your acquaintance, my name is Mr Tree and I am proud to say that my days here on Tulipop began many moons ago – long before the arrival of that merry band of whippersnappers that scamper around below.”
He loves his little scurry of friends and is very protective of them, he also loves Skully but he needs to keep his distance, one step too close to her candle and whoosh go his leaves!

SKULL ROCK Mama Skully and Mr Tree inhabit Skull Rock but, very much like a couple of pensioners on holiday, they pop up all over the island: enjoying the hot springs, sunbathing on Cockleshell Beach or moaning about the weather in the Forgotten Forest.

WHAT HAPPENS IN TULIPOP! Tulipop is a pre-school property aimed at 3-6 year olds with each episode running at 11 minutes/ book being 32 pages. Tulipop is a magical land of weird and wonderful creatures, monsters and peculiar plants where strange things often happen. Strange things that our gang of heroes likes to get to the bottom of! Whether it’s a infestation of Noggin Nigglers, a visit from a Grumpkin or simply a Waterfall that stops falling there’s always an adventure to be had.
Our heroes Gloomy, Bubble, Miss Maddy and Fred each have their own magical skills but their powers are often flawed and our characters also have to rely on common sense and each other to figure things out. Mr Tree and mama Skully are the only ones fully in charge of their powers, which they are reluctant to use, preferring to let the gang solve things themselves.
There is no human influence whatsoever on Tulipop, humans are never referenced and we have no man-made things on the island, everything comes from the natural elements.
There are three moons that orbit Tulipop, Lunar Red, Blue Moon and The Cheeseball. They are often referenced in the stories as they play a big role in the island’s environment and if something is amiss with the moons, the inhabitants of Tulipop will be sure to know about it…

FUN ENTERTAINMENT WITH SUBTLE MESSAGES The main aim of Tulipop is to entertain, the stories will make its viewers laugh out load with a mixture of mishaps, slapstick, visual jokes and the characters idiosyncrasies. In each story however there will be a very subtle lesson of some sort. The relationships of the four main characters reflect the friendships of young children: they are very close, but often squabble or fall out over misunderstandings and rivalries. These upsets are opportunities for them to learn more about relationships and compromise. Whatever the reason for their arguments, they are always resolved by the end of each episode, and their closeness and love for each other is continually emphasised. Despite the fantastical setting, the stories will often feature an experience or problem that children have had, or will likely experience. For example in The Noggin Niggler, Fred gets “nits”, in this episode the gang learn not to judge each other and also that it’s not just dirty people who get nits! Ultimately, our young viewers will empathise, learn and laugh alongside their favourite characters, whilst enjoying the fantasy and comedy elements of the show. 2015 ©Tulipop ehf. The Wishing Seed
Mama Skully’s Birthday
The Waterfall Mystery
As she often does, Gloomy is gazing through her telescope and spots a storm approaching Tulipop and excitedly sends Ozzy off to warn everyone. The storm makes a bit of a mess and after the tidy up they find an odd looking seed which Gloomy identifies as a wishing seed. The gang plant the seed which instantly grows into an odd looking plant which allows them all to have a wish each. Gloomy, Miss Maddy and Fred all wish for their hearts desires but Bubble saves his as he’s pretty content with things as they are. Fred wishes he is scary, but he ends up wearing a box on his head with the eyes cut out as he is too scary for anyone to look at, Gloomy wishes for an invisible cloak but she puts it down somewhere and can’t find it, Maddy wishes everything is pink which she soon regrets. They all converge on Bubble’s garden again, upset with their failed wishes. Bubble has a bit of a think and decides to use his wish to return everything to normal. Everyone is relieved and they thank him for being so kind and selfless, he even gets a kiss from Miss Maddy.
It’s Skully’s 80 trillionth birthday and in order to celebrate Miss Maddy has baked the besest cake in the whole world ever, it is made of four different delicious tiers, blueberry pancake, moondust mint, forest fudge and then her favourite strawberry surprise on the top. The cake is under cover at Skully’s Cave as they enjoy the party. As she about to reveal the cake each of the other friends looks guilty, one by one they tell the story about how Maddy’s description of the cake sounded so delicious that they snuck in and ate it, then replaced with something they had made themselves. Fred ate the Forest Fudge then replaced it with mud and leaves, Bubble ate the Blueberry pancake then replaced it with grass cuttings, and Gloomy ate the Moondust mint and replaced it with cobwebs and dust from her mushroom. We follow all their stories in flashbacks. When the cake is finally unveiled we see the mish mash monster of a cake, with Wiggly and Wobbly Finishing off the strawberry surprise layer at the top. Miss Maddy is cross at first but then eventually sees the funny side and forgives them. Skully says that getting a cake from all of them, and seeing Miss Maddy forgive them for being naughty, is the best present she could have. Then Wobbly finishes the episode by letting out a massive burp.
Bubble is trying to have a sleep in his garden at Buttercup Sands, this proves impossible as Miss Maddy has come round to show off her latest acrobatic dance routine. He finally manages to close his eyes, but just at the wrong moment as he gets splashed in gunk when Miss Maddy’s somersault ends up in a mushroom. They walk to the Waterfall (the Big Waterfall) so Bubble can have a wash, but it’s stopped flowing. It turns out Old Man River has stopped the river because the birds at the woods are making too much noise. The birds have been making noise because Fred is snoring so loudly, Fred is snoring so loudly because Gloomy has covered the holes of his sleeping tree so he thinks it is always night time. Bubble and Miss Maddy have to undo everything to get Tulipop back to normal. The gang learn about consequences and how one little thing can affect many others.

The Mooliepolooka
The Grumpkin
The Nogging Niggler
Early one morning, the friends are each awoken by the island rumbling and shaking. They gather together, afraid it might be an earthquake. When it passes and they return home, they each find that something precious has been taken from their houses. They are all distraught. In desperation, they all go to see Mr Tree and Skully, who tell them it is Moolipolooka Day: the hundred-yearly event when the Moolipolooka comes up from beneath Tulipop and steals from everybody. The friends have to track down the Moolipolooka and politely ask for their things back. When they have succeeded, they come to realise that the creature was not taking items for itself, only to get them to truly appreciate the things they have.
Bubble notices a strange, lonely creature called the Grumpkin, sitting at the edge of the forest. Every time someone tries to speak to him, his eyes flash and he growls, scaring them away. Fred approaches him a couple of times to ask for lessons on how to be scary, but is too frightened to say anything. In the end Gloomy decides to capture him and shut him in a cave on Mr Tree’s mountain. She ropes Bubble into helping her, and they dig a trap, then lure him in with some sparkly marshmallow berries. When he falls in the trap, the friends creep to the edge to see what kind of monster they have captured. They are surprised to find a little, horned thing, sobbing at the bottom of the pit, totally heartbroken. Bubble climbs down to talk to him, and discovers he was only trying to make friends, but hadn’t learnt how. They pull him out and invite him to a party in his honour. Even though his growling still scares them a little bit, they are all pleased to have made a new friend.
As she often does, Gloomy is gazing through her telescope and spots a storm approaching Tulipop and excitedly sends Ozzy off to Fred wakes up feeling odd. His rabbits Ping and Pong are laughing and pointing at him, but he can’t work out what is wrong. He goes along for a picnic at Bubble’s house where everyone tells him he has a creature attached to his head. Gloomy looks it up in her book of beasts, and finds out that is a Noggin Niggler. It begins to itch and they all try and do different things to remove it: tempting it with food, Miss Maddy sings a song to it, Gloomy tries to pull it off, but to no avail. Everyone assumes that Fred has got a Noggin Niggler because he’s so filthy, and tell him to go and wash himself. Ashamed, he goes off and tries to wash the creature off in the sea but it won’t budge. Whilst there he bumps into Mr.Tree and Skully who are on the beach (Mr.Tree fishing and Skully sunbathing) and they tell him that Noggin Nigglers actually like clean heads, it’s really filthy heads that they don’t like. When he gets back to his friends they are all lying round scratching their heads because they now too have Noggin Nigglers. They all say sorry to Fred for accusing him of being filthy and are at a loss as how to get rid of the horrible critters. Fred tells them what Mr.Tree and Skully told him so Gloomy rustles up the most disgusting potion that she can think of and they all smear it on their heads. Finally the little critters pack up and leave and the gang are all so relieved they don’t even care about how badly they smell. 2015 ©Tulipop ehf. All rights reserved.

GLOOMY: It looks like a Poobleflap, but it’s the wrong time of year.
Ext – TOADSTOOL HILL
In the telescope view the object changes shape.
We see Fred’s backside as he is burrowing into some leaves. Ping and Pong are jumping about nearby. Ozzy lands on Fred’s backside causing him to jump round.
Narrator: One evening right at the top of Toadstool Hill, Gloomy was being her usual curious self…
GLOOMY: No, no, it’s got the fat belly of a Blundleshunt.
FRED: What was that?
The object changes shape again.
He turns around again and we can see Ozzy perched on his tail.
We see a shot of Gloomy’s house at the top of Toadstool Hill. In the window a telescope is moving about. The shot moves inside and we see Gloomy in her messy wizard like room, scrolls and potions cluttered about everywhere. Gloomy is looking into her telescope and Ozzy her pet bat is nearby. We cut back to the view of the telescope, and we hear Gloomy talking over the top GLOOMY: Kapow the Volcano - Check.
GLOOMY: But Blundleshunt’s can’t move that fast. It’s moving like a…. big black cloud. A big black storm cloud! It’s a storm! Someone should go and warn everyone, don’t you think Ozzy? Ozzy shakes his head and tries to hide behind a potion - we see his face distorted in the glass bowl of the potion.
Telescope moves to Mount Black.
GLOOMY: Ozzy! I’ll give you some special Bravery potion that almost works.
Gloomy: Mount Black - Check. Weird Sky Monster - Check. (Telescope double takes) Weird Sky Monster!!!!!!!
She holds the bravery potion it looks horrible, orange and bubbling and making strange stomach churning sounds.
Ozzy stretches wings as if to say ‘I don’t know.’
Ozzy shakes his head, he looks to the window, then back to the potion, then back to the window and decides to take his chances with the storm. We see him fly out of the window. Gloomy smells the potion and pulls a ‘eeuuuugghhh’ face.
Gloomy scrolls through her book and we see a

GLOOMY: Mooliepolooka!!!! What in the name of my mushroom do you think that is Ozzy?
FRED: I asked you two to watch out for anything scary. Apart from me of course. I am the scariest monster in the entire forest. Ping and Pong roll their eyes. We hear Ozzy screech and Fred jumps letting out a girly squeal. Ping and Pong start laughing in a high pitched way. Ozzy the bat appears. FRED: Oh it’s you Ozzy, (trying to recover) you didn’t scare me at all, I was just practicing my mouse sounds. Ozzy mimes that a storm coming. FRED: What are you trying to say? Ping and Pong join in jumping around and then make their ears flap in one direction imitating wind blowing towards them
FRED: I don’t understand.
MISS MADDY: There we go that should just about…..
Spud’s shell changes from red (same colour as Bubble’s Head) to the colour of Blueberry.
Ozzy, Ping and Pong all make the same sound <whoooosh>
Ozzy lands in the middle of the cake with a big splat and the icing goes over everyone. Wiggly is covered Wobbly licks it off and then does a big burp.
He jumps into his hammock, next to Spud, with a plate of pancakes, dripping syrup.
FRED: I am very sorry, but I have no idea of what you are trying to say. Suddenly all the leaves start blowing about making Fred jump. FRED: The wind is picking up, I hope it’s not a storm. Fred looks really scared. Ozzy facepalms himself and flies off. Cut back to the big map tracking Ozzy to Miss Maddy’s house. EXT – CHERRY BERRY FIELDS Miss Maddy is singing to herself as she puts the icing on a cake. MISS MADDY: Green and Pink, then Yellow and Pink, then Pink then Pink and Pink Pink, Pink, Pink and Pink, Pink, Pink, Pink. Wiggly and Wobbly are stood static by the cake while Miss Maddy is singing, but their eyes are following the icing tube as it moves around the cake.
MISS MADDY: Ozzy!!!!!! I spent all day on that! Well I suppose that’s a good thing, it wasn’t quiiiiite pink enough... Ozzy flaps all the icing off his wings, and points frantically to the window. Exaggerated stormclouds are gathering. MISS MADDY: Ah look a storm! Ozzy, you should warn the others. Ozzy facepalms himself. MISS MADDY: (sings dramatically) A stooooooooooooorm is on the horiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiizon! We fade out as we show Ozzy’s journey on the map to Bubble’s house.
Suddenly one by one all the mushrooms in the garden start sitting down (their stalks go into the ground and the top bit is left visible. All the flowers start closing up and the birds start covering the holes in the trees they are nesting. The hammock starts swinging, Spud’s shell starts flashing like a red warning light, Spud rushes off inside. BUBBLE: You are right Spud, It is getting a bit wind……… The hammock spins round and round swallowing up Bubble. We see the outline of him inside and muffled cries. BUBBLE: Help! Help! Ozzy comes flying in and pushes the hammock which lets Bubble go spinning out. Ozzy does a mime about the storm.
EXT – BUTTERCUP SANDS
BUBBLE: A storm is coming?
Bubble is finishing off watering some plants. Spud is alongside him.
Ozzy looks relieved someone has finally got his mime.
BUBBLE: The gardening is all finished Spud. Time to treat ourselves to some Blueberry pancakes.
BUBBLE: You better get back home, We’d better get inside. Spud…? Spud…?
Ozzy flies off. A gust of wind blows a blueberry pancake from the plate into Bubble’s face, he licks his lips and makes a Mmmmm sound) EXT – Toadstool Hill NARRATOR: And so the storm arrived, some were excited Gloomy clinging onto the weathervane on roof of Toadstool Hill with her cloak blowing in the wind. GLOOMY: Woohooo! EXT – FORGOTTEN FOREST NARRATOR: Some were scared. Fred shaking behind some rocks. EXT – BUTTERCUP SANDS NARRATOR: And some just slept right through.
And as soon as it had come, it had gone, and Tulipop was back to normal, except maybe a bit messier. And that meant time to help each other tidy up. The shot moves to Bubbles garden on the map. EXT – BUTTERCUP SANDS Bubble is standing outside his house surveying the damage things have blown everywhere. BUBBLE: Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.
GLOOMY: I’ve reordered your mushrooms. All the mushrooms are standing on top of each other. Fred is standing by an odd looking seed half his size. FRED: Bubble, where does this go?
MISS MADDY: Don’t worry Bubble we’re here to help.
Maddy roly polies into shot beside him and they all group round one by one to stare at the object.
FRED: Miss Maddy didn’t waste any time tiding up Cherry Berry Fields
BUBBLE: I don’t think that was there before the storm.
Bubble in his bed cuddling his snail. EXT – CHERRY BERRY FIELDS
Fred does a thumbs up.
Miss Maddy in bed snoring, the worms are on the pillow next to her. When she exhales they roll over, and when she inhales they roll back again.
MISS MADDY: : Enough talking more tidying.
NARRATOR:
Miss Maddy gestures to a lettuce patch which is all strangely arranged.
Everyone else walks into shot.
GLOOMY: And the storm made Fred’s place tidier than it was before.
Cut back to the main map. We see the storm pass over it and the sun rising on the horizon.
MADDY: I’ve Feng Shuied your lettuce patch for you.
A little montage sequence of them all tidying up in their own way, Fred snuffling things into place with his horns. Miss Maddy doing somersaults and putting things back and Gloomy waving her cloak to reveal she has tidied an area.
GLOOMY: Maybe it’s the egg from a strange space creature? FRED: Maybe it’s one of Miss Maddy’s cakes that’s been in the oven too long. Miss Maddy inhales as if she is mortally offended. GLOOMY: I know what we should do.
FRED: Try and eat it? GLOOMY: No, consult my book of Strange and Wonderful things. Shot goes back to Fred. He has his slobbery mouth round the seed. He removes it guiltily. Gloomy pulls out a big book from somewhere in her cloak. GLOOMY: Let me see…..unless I am very much mistaken this is the seed of….. a Wishing Plant! FRED, BUBBLE & MISS MADDY: A Wishing Plant!!!! GLOOMY: Yes, a Wishing Plant. It says: Plant the seed in the ground Wishes will grow for all around Remember think your wishes through Because every wish will come true. MADDY: This is easy I’m going wish for a thousand trillion wishes. GLOOMY: It says here you can only make one wish, and the last person who tried that trick got turned into a frog. Fred Laughs out loud and Miss Maddy shoots him a look, he immediately stops laughing.
EXT – GARDEN BUTTERCUP SANDS The gang are in a corner of Bubble’s garden. Bubble has dug a little hole and has his watering can and trowel standing by. Gloomy is carrying the seed in both hands. BUBBLE: There, that should do it. We can see a hole in the ground with a worm in it. MADDY: Do we just stick it in there, with all that yucky mud and worms? Cut to worm looking offended. GLOOMY: Can we get on with it please? I want my wish, as quickly as possible. FRED: Oh yes, yes! Fred rubs his hands together and grins. A thought bubble pops out of his head with an image of a giant Fred, rampaging through the forest like Godzilla.
MISS MADDY: Wishing seed, wishing seed, Blown in on the storm, Wishing seed, wishing seed, Grow big and strong. Wishing seed, wishing seed, Stretch up to the trees, Wishing seed, wishing seed, Get a move on, please. They stare at the ground and the wishing plant shoots up from out of it in one big burst! MISS MADDY: At last! Leaves pop out and a head forms, like a fluffy dandelion clock, but with a mouth. The friends all clap with joy and Fred growls and stomps the ground like Godzilla. WISHING PLANT: <SERIES OF STRANGE GURGLES> GLOOMY: Bubble, what did it say? BUBBLE: It is asking who wishes to wish a wish.
BUBBLE: Here goes, then.
BUBBLE, GLOOMY, MISS MADDY & FRED Me! Me! Me first!
He takes the seed and plants it, then covers it over with soil. The friends all join hands in a circle and dance around it, then Miss Maddy begins to sing…
WISHING PLANT: <GURGLING> BUBBLE: (Translating) Say Please.
MISS MADDY, GLOOMY, FRED:
BUBBLE: Gloomy! Gloomy! Where are you?
I want, anyway. Thank you for the wishes, Mr Plant.
WISHING PLANT: <GURGLING>
Gloomy appears the other side of them.
The plant nods then turns to dust.
GLOOMY: I’m here. Or am I?
Gloomy appears again holding her cloak in her hand,
Gloomy disappears again.
GLOOMY: Boo!
Please!
BUBBLE: There is one wish each. Be careful what you wish for! The plant bends over and opens its mouth. It makes a coughing noise and a pile of slimy berries plops out. It stands back up, smacking its lips. The friends stare at the berries, horrified.
FRED: (Jumping up and down excited) This is the best day ever! I am going straight back to the forest to make my wish.
MADDY: That’s disgusting!
Fred pops the wishing seed in his mouth. He rubs his tummy and runs off with the pink bubble above his head.
BUBBLE: What do you think we do now? GLOOMY: It says here to make a wish, you have to eat a berry. Gloomy casually picks one up and pops it in her mouth. She screws her eyes shut, and a pink bubble appears in the air over her head. GLOOMY: I wish for... my cloak to turn into an invisibility cloak! The Bubble pops and seconds later Gloomy disappears with a ‘zing’ sound. MISS MADDY, FRED & BUBBLE: Wow!!!!!
Miss Maddy gingerly picks one up with thumb and forefinger. MADDY: Oh, Bubble, I can’t. It’s just too revolting! BUBBLE: Don’t you want your wish? MISS MADDY: First I am going to take it home and put some cherries on it so I can try and forget it came out of that thing’s mouth. This had better be worth it! Miss Maddy walks off. Bubble picks up the last berry. BUBBLE: I think I’ll save this for later. I have everything
Bubble jumps into his hat. GLOOMY: It’s me Bubble! She puts her cloak down beside her and dances around in excitement. GLOOMY: Halloo Hullay! I am the new owner of the most awesome-est invisibility cloak! Now I will be able to play tricks on everyone non stop! BUBBLE: (Putting head in hands) Oh no. GLOOMY: Hang on, oh no, where did I put it? I just had it in my hand a second. This is a disaster!!!!!! I can’t lose my cloak, it’s my favourite thing in the whole world. Bubble coughs. GLOOMY: Apart from my friends silly. Oh please help me find it Bubble.
BUBBLE: I can’t remember what it looks like. GLOOMY: It’s invisible you nincompoop! BUBBLE: This could take a long time. MISS MADDY (Off screen): Help! Help! Bubble! Help!
MAKE IT STOP!!! Fred runs on with a wooden box on his head, his horns poking out of the top. He runs into a pink tree, as he can’t see where he is going. BUBBLE: Fred? Did you wish you had a box for a head? FRED: No I put this on myself.
strong words with it! Bubble points over to the empty hole of the wishing plant. Miss Maddy, Fred and Gloomy gasp. GLOOMY: Oh no! My cloak I can’t bear to be without my cloak.
MISS MADDY: Finally he’s taking some pride in his appearance.
MISS MADDY: I never thought I’d say this, but I think I am going off pink.
GLOOMY: What happened Fred?
FRED: Someone tell me what’s going on out there?
BUBBLE: Aah! It’s a pink monster!
FRED: (POV from behind Fred as he talks to his friends)
MISS MADDY: This is a disaster what did you wish for Bubble?
GLOOMY: (exasperated) No Bubble. It’s just Miss Maddy.
I went back to the Forgotten Forest as fast as I could then I wished I was a terrifying monster who could frighten everyone!
BUBBLE: (sighs) I was going to wish for the biggest blueberry pancake in the world….
While he is talking we see a flashback of Fred in the Forgotten Forest making his wish, surrounded by bunnies and birds. Cut to POV behind him and we see his head distort and all the birds flying away and the bunnies running off.
He picks berry up from the floor. The others look at him, pleading.
Over the Hill in the distance we see a completely pink Miss Maddy running with a pink trail of grass following behind her and whatever she touches turns pink.
MISS MADDY: Help! Help! You have to help me! That plant has got my wish all wrong! BUBBLE: Was your wish to look like a giant blancmange, Miss Maddy? MISS MADDY: No I wanted everything to be pink! A whole world of beautiful shades of pink. I didn’t mean the same pink. I thought that was obvious. FRED: (Off screen) AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! OH MY HORNS!!!!!! IT’S SO SCARY!! SOMEONE
GLOOMY: So your wish didn’t work? FRED: It did! It worked too well! I can’t bear to look at myself! I’M A MONSTER!! MISS MADDY: Where’s that plant, Bubble? I need to have some
BUBBLE: …but it looks as though, if you wish things for yourself, they don’t turn out very well. Bubble shrugs and swallows his berry. The wish bubble appears over his head and bursts. BUBBLE: I wish everyone was back to normal. <POP> Gloomy’s cloak appears on the ground <POP>All that had turned pink returns to normal
<POP> Fred takes the box off his head and he is his normal self GLOOMY: Hooray! My cloak! Thanks for sharing your wish, Bubble! FRED: Oh, thank goodness! I mean, thank Bubble! MISS MADDY: Bubble, you are my hero! (she kisses him and he blushes) Now you’re turning pink. Everyone laughs. NARRATOR: And so another day finished on Tulipop, they learnt that things are sometimes better without wishes, and there’s one thing they couldn’t wish for - better friends. The shot zooms out on them all playing and laughing together, and we’re left with an overview of the island. Theme tune and credits start and when they’re over we hear a big pop and the island disappears and we cut to black.
END.
