Since its inception in 1942, the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Tulsa has been a cornerstone of the housing industry in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and surrounding communities. With a robust membership base of approximately 1,100 professionals, the HBA has continually strived to uphold and promote ethical business practices, support community development, and advance the interests of its members through education and advocacy.
The HBA of Greater Tulsa operates under a clear mission: "Empowering the success of our members as the professional resource for housing in our community." This mission is supported by core values emphasizing integrity, community support, and impactful connections within the housing sector. These values guide the association's efforts in providing resources, education, and opportunities for builders, remodelers, and associates involved in related fields such as mortgage finance and building products and services.
One of the critical areas of focus for the HBA is government affairs. Regular meetings, such as those held on January 31 and June 26, 2024, ensure that the association remains proactive in addressing regulatory and legislative issues that affect the housing industry. During these meetings, the association discusses strategic initiatives, updates on municipal regulations, and the status of various funds designed to support workforce development, education, and advocacy efforts.
For instance, the Issues Fund, with a balance projected to grow from $31,419 to approximately $40,000 after 2024 contributions, is a vital resource for addressing legal emergencies and supporting the HBA's strategic initiatives. These initiatives include the creation of construction academies at Union, Nathan Hale, and Broken Arrow High Schools, supporting local research on burdensome regulation, and supporting the fundraising activities of pro-housing candidates.
The HBA also plays a significant role in community events and member engagement. Upcoming events, such as the City of Tulsa Mayoral Forum, Oklahoma HBA Day at the Capital, and the BUILDPAC Golf Tournament, provide members with opportunities to network, engage with policymakers, and advocate for the housing industry.
The Home Builders Association of Greater Tulsa remains a pivotal influence in the regional housing industry by upholding ethical business practices, supporting the community, and empowering its members. Through robust connections with local officials and ongoing advocacy for favorable regulations, the HBA ensures its members are equipped to thrive and significantly contribute to the community's prosperity.
