Welcome On behalf of the Tulsa World, OKPrepsExtra.com, our partners and presenting sponsors, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2017-2018 All-World Awards. Tonight we get to celebrate many of Northeast Oklahoma’s outstanding high school athletes and coaches. These athletes, along with their coaches, excelled against their competition, broke records, set personal bests and inspired us with their teamwork and dedication. Tulsa World sportswriters and editors met to discuss the award finalists for 20 sports award categories and 10 special award categories. Nominations from coaches, teachers, schools and fans were also considered. The athletes being honored here tonight represent the best and the brightest. We will recognize exemplary athletes in individual sports categories — from football to tennis — and for distinct special awards. We’ll hear a motivational keynote address from Chris Harris Jr., and our night will culminate with the celebration of our Lifetime Achievement Award winner, coach Joe Gilbert. We’d like to thank Chris Harris Jr. for accepting our invitation to speak tonight. Harris is a Super Bowl champion, Denver Broncos cornerback, philanthropist and a Bixby High School alumnus. We’re excited to welcome him to the All-World Awards. We also want to give a special thanks to Braum’s for helping us bring Chris Harris Jr. back home for this event. These festivities would not be possible without our gracious sponsors. It is with their support that we are able to offer every winning athlete a scholarship. Thank you. We hope that you will enjoy the second annual All-World Awards! Sincerely, Gloria Fletcher President & Publisher Tulsa World Media Company

Chris Harris Jr. Athlete | Super Bowl Champion | 2015 Iba Award Winner | Philanthropist Harris is a positive role model for aspiring athletes because of his dedication, perseverance and commitment to community. His humble beginnings playing football, basketball and running track at Bixby High School spring-boarded him to a decorated career at Kansas, where he led his team to an Orange Bowl victory. Despite his success at Kansas, Harris went undrafted. He signed as a free agent with the Denver Broncos. Because of his never-quit work ethic, Harris received a roster spot and had an immediate impact, earning Denver’s breakout player and overachiever of the year awards. During the 2014 season, Harris didn’t allow a touchdown and earned second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors. In 2015, he helped lead the Broncos to a Super Bowl title with a win over Carolina. Inspired by his own experiences, in 2013, he formed the Chris Harris Foundation, which targets underdogs and provides them opportunities and resources to rise above obstacles to achieve greatness.
