elcome to the Broadway District in downtown Coweta for the 45th Annual Fall Festival celebration! The Coweta Chamber of Commerce will roll out the red carpet to thousands of visitors, alumni and community friends Sept. 12-14. Included in the pages of this special edition you will find information about the young ladies competing for royalty honors, highlights on grandstand stage headliners and a look at all of the activities that will take place during the festival’s three-day run. Bring the family and enjoy the festivities!

hen it comes to competing at the local, regional and state levels, no one gives it more heart than the young men and women of the Coweta Special Athletes Organization. On Friday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m., CSAO will hold its annual Sweets Auction at the Fall Festival grandstand stage. or more than a quarter of a century, the biggest fundraiser for Coweta’s awardwinning Tiger Pride Band takes place during Fall Festival. The band’s annual Pie/Dessert Auction will commence Saturday, Sept. 14 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the grandstand stage. Bidding wars help make this event a fun Fall Festival favorite! All proceeds will be used to pay for the band’s travel expenses, instruments, musical equipment and instruments. As an added bonus, persons placing the highest bids on designated pies will be able to “Pie the Public Servants” and put a pie in the face of Coweta Police Chief Mike Bell, Coweta Fire Chief Greg Edwards, Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott or Wagoner County Commissioners Tim Kelley, Chris Edwards or James Hanning. Come be a part of the fun and support the Tiger Pride Band!

Community honors for all who served

A

oin members of American Legion Post No. 226 and representatives with the City of Coweta Saturday, Sept. 14 as they dedicate a Centennial Memorial to all veterans and their loved ones for their service and sacrifices for our country, states and local communities. The special ceremony begins at 11 a.m. in front of Coweta City Hall, 310 S. Broadway. Among those participating in the program will be American Legion

TM Global Corporation will provide ATMs for patron convenience at Fall Festival. Machines will be located near each ticket booth along the midway. AT&T Communication Solutions is partnering with the Coweta Chamber to provide mobile hotspots for wireless internet, along with a charging station for public use. Express RX will have a first aid booth on the midway.

The stone that will be dedicated is only a portion of the entire memorial that will be constructed on the southwest corner of South Broadway and Pecan Street. In addition to honoring all veterans, the memorial will also pay tribute to the community’s two Congressional Medal of Honor winners and Coweta’s Eight — men who were killed in action during the Vietnam War.

Be entertained at Coweta’s Got Talent show

O

ne of the most popular Fall Festival activities will feature the many talented individuals who call Coweta and Wagoner County home. The Coweta’s Got Talent competition takes center stage Saturday, Sept. 14 at 3:30 p.m. and you will not want to miss a minute of the entertainment! Over the years, contestants have done everything from sing, dance and play instruments to give interpretative readings, draw and play harmonica. Anything goes, which is what makes this talent show such a big draw. So bring a lawn chair or blanket and plan to spend the afternoon in downtown Coweta. Come early and enjoy lunch along Food Alley or ride amusement rides along the midway. Immediately following will be the Coweta Band Pie Auction.

Corn bags, rubber duckies and fun, oh my!

T

wo new activities are coming to the 45th Annual Fall Festival! One involves tossing corn bags and the other involves flowing water and rubber duck zoo animals. On Friday, Sept. 13, Coweta Cornhole will host a Singles Cornhole Tournament at the corner of Broadway and Pecan near City Hall. Check-in starts at 6 p.m. and bags will fly at 7 p.m. Entry fee is $10 per person and the winner is guaranteed a $100 cash prize. The more entries there are, the more prizes will be available. On Saturday, Sept. 14, the inaugural Zoo Derby will commence in front of the grandstand stage down a makeshift river. Ducks are $5 each, six for $25, 12 for $50 or 25 for $100 and may be purchased at the Downtown Activities Committee booth on the north end of the grandstand. Proceeds will help with downtown beautification projects. First place payout is 25 percent of the pot while the second and third place payouts are 15 percent and 10 percent respectively.

Check out these collector’s autos Take part in Tour de Cowtown Saturday

C

lassic cars, trucks, jeeps and bikes will line the streets of South Broadway Saturday, Sept. 14 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Disabled American Veterans Benefit Car/ Truck/Jeep/Bike show.

Exhibitors will compete for a host of awards including a “Best of Show” trophy. The show will go on, rain or shine, and judging begins at 2 p.m. Be sure to stop by and check out these classics!

D

id someone say bike ride? Pull out the bicycle, put on a helmet and take part in the Tour de Cowtown Saturday, Sept. 14. Registration begins at 6 a.m. in the high school parking lot and the tour begins at 8 a.m. There are four distances to chose from — a 5-mile Family Fun Ride and rides of 32K (19.88 miles), 48K (29.82 miles) and 100 K (62 miles). This is a family fun event and all are invited. Proceeds will go back into the community through both the Coweta Rotary Club and Coweta Chamber projects.

Take a ride along the midway Scrambling for live goldfish

oweta’s Downtown Broadway District will be filled with carnival rides, games and attractions for the 45th Annual Fall Festival Celebration. The midway will open at 5 p.m. both Thursday and Friday and at 12 noon on Saturday, weather permitting. Unlimited ride wristbands will be honored both Thursday evening and on Saturday afternoon from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Wristbands are $25 apiece, and are a one-day use only. or youngsters, there is something irresistible about playing in water — especially during the warm days of September. On Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m., children can do just that by participating in a free goldfish scramble hosted by the Youth Bowfishing Association organiza-

tion. Wading pools filled with goldfish will be located next to the YBA booth on the corner of Broadway and Sycamore Streets near Food Alley. So join in on the fun immediately following the 45th Annual Fall Festival Parade on Saturday! The race is on to collect goldfish during Fall Festival!

Brothers Rebellion

Y

ou’ve seen them on stages across Oklahoma this past year, and now the Brothers Rebellion will make their Fall Festival debut at 7:30 p.m. Friday on the grandstand stage. Brothers Rebellion is a group of guys who came from different walks of life with different backgrounds, but music

brought them together. They met playing gigs and open mics in various Northeast Oklahoma locations and became good friends. The quartet plays several genres of music including country, red dirt, classic rock and southern rock. Welcome to Brothers Rebellion!

The Paul Holt Band

F

riday night entertainment on the Fall Festival stage begins at 5 p.m. with a performance by The Paul Holt Band, playing all your favorite tunes from the 1960s through the 1990s just the way you remember them! A versatile five-piece band, they play cover songs from all of your favorite classic rock artists including Tom Petty, The Beatles, The Eagles, ELO, John Cougar, Fleetwood Mac, The Pretenders, and MORE . They also perform songs by country greats like Garth

Brooks, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Jason Aldean. The setlist is fun, the music is contagious and you know every word by heart – come sing along with The Paul Holt Band!

Ragland BAND

A

n Americana/Red Dirt act based out of Tahlequah, “Ragland” was formed in 2015 when Autumn Ragland and Sam Cox combined both of their solo projects into one shortly after being married. Ragland performs approximately 200 shows a year on the road. The band just put out a third album titled “Murphy’s Law”. The lead single from the album, “Footsteps”, managed to hit the Top 40 on Texas/Red Dirt Radio. Please welcome Ragland Band to Coweta! Their performance is slated for 9 p.m. Friday on the grandstand stage.

Scars of Salvation

S

cars of Salvation returns to the Fall Festival stage this year with a 1:15 p.m. Saturday performance. The band, formed in 2016, is comprised of Worship Pastor Shane Woodrow (lead vocals/acoustic guitar), Josh Edgmon (bass), Eldon Hutson and Andrew Treat (electric guitar), Christi Woodrow (vocals/keyboard), Jeff McGuire (accoustic guitar/vocals) and Adam York (drums). The band combines a southern rock style sound with modern worship to create an awesome and unique blended worship experience. Musical influences come from a variety of genres as band members have diverse backgrounds in music. Scars of Salvation leads worship each Sunday (10:45 a.m.) at CrossPoint

Baptist Church in Coweta. The band also performs at community events with the ultimate goal to point others to the cross.

Owen Eckhardt

O

wen Eckhardt of Broken Arrow will perform live on the grandstand stage Saturday at 8 p.m. Eckhardt, 16, began singing as a small child. After becoming proficient at the piano, he taught himself to play guitar in 2018. He has also begun writing his own music. He has performed at local festivals and private events. Although he has a broad interest in all genres of music, his style favors country/red dirt country. His musical influences include artists such as John Mayer and Tyler Childers and bands such as the Turnpike Troubadors.

Alaska & Madi

C

losing out the festival with a 9:30 p.m. Saturday performance will be Tulsa-based recording artists Alaska & Madi, a country duo that has been singing together for over a decade. They made their television debut on The Voice, landing a spot on Team Blake. Blake describes their tight harmonies as “having the same magic as the Pistol Annies”. Adam Levine calls them “perfectly in sync, dynamic and confident performers”. After The Voice, Alaska and Madi headed to Nashville to record their first album. They have opened for country greats including the The Oakridge Boys, Cole Swindell, Chase Bryant, Parmalee, Vince Gill and more.
