On a stroll with Tuntreet

Do you want to escape from your dorm and get some air? Are you tired of the driven-up skiing trails round the fields? Are you ready to go your own way? We have and give you the ultimate break from a gray student weekday. This is a trail of cultural features, exercises, food, play and fun. You will need: Clothing, skiing equipment, wallet, 1 slice of bread, possibly matches and Milo.

The trail, with the presumption of snowy weather.

Sprø-strekt løk We will start our stroll at Pentagons mysterious artwork. After some journalistic digging we can now present both the name of the artwork and the artist: “Onion”, by Aase Texmon Rygh (19252019). What was it Rygh wanted to express with this onion? Was she implying to the symbolism of the many layers of an onion that has to be peeled to reach the core? Such as a student never can stop asking questions in their lust for knowledge? Or was she simply trying to inspire us to do a pre-skiing-stretch? We believe the last to be true.

Eika<3

On our way to campus we walk over the “Kjerringjorde”, where a stop by Eika is necessary. Eika deserves both admiration, songs and poetry, and we encourage you all to compose an anthem as such:

Honourable Eika Honour to you Applethieving, why should we do that? When we can stand and admire you? -Sofie, 21 Over the field: Take off your skies and run over the road. Don´t walk up to the Dairycross. This reckless behavior will also give you an adrenalinekick of a rare kind.

Everything perfect must be destroyed What is more satisfying than to touch or destroy the untouched and snow-covered surface of skiing tracks? Best before, but not bad after? “O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, why are you not cleared away?”. We have far passed the 13. Day since Christmas. (But you still keep a good shape after all!)

Railing = Skiing ramp Do you dare? Take a jump! “Can you stick the landing?” Warming! Don’t attempt this on little snow/hard ground. On a “picnic” with contemporary art Hungry? Then don´t go here. This cooler cannot be opened. Not because it has frozen shut, but because it´s an illusion. Contemporary art at its most cruel. Maybe a reference to hungry students on a tight grocery-budget?

Worship Falsen Bow down for “Falsen”, the constitutional father. Sing the national anthem while you pray. It is important. And also, research shows that singing releases endorphins which makes you happy. Play tag while blind on Blind Road When you lose a sense, the others heighten. Breathe in the fresh air. Taste it! Listen to the life around you, the sound of a landscape in winter hibernation. Feel the nature. Become one with your surroundings. You´re now a wolf; “AOOO”. Smell your way to the prey, and attack.

A bit weird to play “Wolf and prey”? Play “Hide and seek” instead! Alternatively: Plan out where you can hide in the terrain once summer comes and nature is more helpful at hiding you. Alternatively to the alternative: Go play “Shop” or “Café” in Bikuben.

Lichen of Life Walk herringbone style up to the Lichen of life, or Feeding from the Tree of Knowledge, as Kathrin Shlegels artwork is named. This brass sculpture is an enlarged 3D-model of a lichen found on the Tuntree. The tree, not the student paper. Cool, right? Tuntreet stands as a living witness to all the knowledge that has been obtained here at the Agricultural college since 1864, and the lichen collected from the tree is meant to symbolize the further growth of knowledge on this new campus. After taking in the art and reflecting on the symbolism, you can ski down the mound! Which is also cool, and gives you butterflies, somewhat. Get warm and cozy inside an indoor beehive Here you can buy a cup of cocoa, waffles and oranges! And Kvikk-Lunsj (when they´re not sold out). Therefore, we had to settle for the oranges, although we had been looking forwards to the chocolate.

High Five!

Is “lockdown” starting to make you schizophrenic? Do you feel like statues are talking to you? You´re not alone! Here we imagined ourselves receiving a motivational speech from Gunvor Nervold Antonsens open hand. “Wow! Look at you! You´ve dragged yourself from your dorm, skiid so far. Good one! High five!”

Wobbly sign The rumors are… PB… And the name remained… To everybody´s confusion. Hill-intervals for the sporty ones TIME TO BURN OFF YOUR LUNCH! GET SOME SPEED! JUST DO IT! DON’T GIVE UP UNTIL YOU´VE REACHED THE TOP!! 4 reps. Can be run as a competition. Recommended to run before gravel is spread over the snowy hillside.

Sheep, robot or Satan on stilts? What is this sheep? Where does it come from? Why does it have Achilles heels on fire? Why does it have spikes from its pelvis? Why a flower on the knee? Why wings? Is it even a sheep? Has it been dissected in the Veterinary building, and then put together? Has it risen from the dead? Has it been at a carnival in Venezia? Why is it standing on stilts? Is it a robot? We have so many questions. Fritz Røed, the artist which also is known for the famous artwork “Sword in stone” located in Hafrsfjord, has truly created art that fascinates, engage and provoke. The sun wall on Frydenhaug Take a breath at the sun wall. Take a break, look at the view and enjoy life. Life, is now. If you count years, life becomes short. If you count days, life goes by fast. If you count hours, life lasts a while. But life lasts the longest When you enjoy every second... - Per Kvalsund

Stick-bread Hungry again after the intervals? A lecture coming up soon, and no time to make a fire. We have got the quick-fix-solution.
