ANDY JENKINS FOR TURBOKOLOR CO. 10 years anniversary limited series.

It was 1991. My first issue of Transworld Skateboarding was the one with Rick Howard on the cover, killing it on the Blockhead ramp. There was also an episode of a Wrench Pilot cartoon inside. I was a fan from the very first moment I saw it. Back then, I never could have imagined that I would not only be lucky enough to work with the people who showed me the way, but I’d also be able to one day call them friends. Andy Jenkins is definitely guilty for what I’m doing right now. Art, skateboarding and street culture is his everyday job. He's a multi-talent. From writing, to cartoon drawings, to abstract paintings, he was always a huge inspiration for me. Andy created his amazing world starting in the ‘80’s, working in different magazines like Transworld, Skateboarding, Big Brother, Dirt and others, in collaboration with his friends Mark Lewman and Spike Jonze. At the time, Andy was bringing his famous character Lettus Bee to life. You see, Lettus skates for joy, not for fame or sponsorship. And his comic, called Wrench Pilot , published in both Transworld and Skateboarder magazines between 1998 and 2004, has become iconic today. Wrench Pilot was penned under Andy’s alias, Mel Bend. Later, working for World Industries, when it was still great, Blockhead Skateboards, and various others before starting the big adventure with Rick and Mike in ’93, he served as the creative head behind the Girl Skateboard family for the next 20-plus years. He also founded an independent publishing company called Bend Press, which, at its beginning, was a crazy punk zine, and eventually began publishing actual books. I’m therefore proud to introduce to you our 10th anniversary, Wrench Pilot capsule by Andy Jenkins for Turbokolor Co. Life is good. Thanks,
