Farol’s superb reputation for service

Farol is a significant John Deere dealer, based at Milton Common in Oxfordshire. Established as a family business in 1976, they employ over 230 sales, service, parts, transport, tyre and admin staff whilst still remaining 100% family owned.

The Groundscare division distributes many major brands including Turfco, the Minnesota-based manufacturer of topdressers, blowers and overseeders.

“We appointed Farol as one of our UK dealers because they have a superb reputation for their sales and customer service operations,” said John Moore, Turfco’s European Sales Manager.

The Groundscare division is based at their headquarters in Milton Common, which acts as a distribution centre for all of their depots. It’s here that all crated machines are built-up and undergo a rigorous PDI process before being distributed to their regional dealerships or direct to the customer, using their own fleet of delivery vehicles.”

Oliver Longden is responsible for the division’s pre-delivery inspection operation.

“Previously equipment was sent to the individual dealerships for the pdi process, but now with it all in one central location, we have greater control and consistency,” said Oliver.

“Our service operation has also been enhanced and the centralised call centre is staffed by trained technicians with the knowledge to immediately recognise issues and act accordingly. All calls are directed here and we can manage our response across our territory. n jmoore@turfco.com

“We are particularly excited about the new technology that is filtering down from the agricultural sector and how it will enhance our response times to service enquiries. The large John Deere agricultural equipment is now using telemetry and the service team can monitor messages received from a machine in the field and, using a traffic light system, prioritise their response. In some cases, they can notify the operator that they have an issue, before they know it! In the next generation of John Deere groundscare equipment, this will become available to us. It’s all about providing the end-user with ultimate customer service.
