Ulm es una ciudad muy encantadora ubicada en Alemania. Recorrimos sus calles empedradas, admiramos su Ayuntamiento y los barrios más icónicos de la ciudad como el de Los Pescadores en donde se encuentra la casa más inclinada del mundo.
Ulm is an enchanting city located in Germany. We visited its streets, admired its stoned streets, town hall and the most emblematic neighborhoods, such as the Fishermen’s Quarter where you can find the Crooked house, most inclined house in the world.
También degustamos los platillos alemanes por excelencia como lo son sus famosas salchichas, entre otras delicias.
We also tried German dishes par excellence, their famous sausages among others.

Ulm es una ciudad llena de sorpresas y puede describirse como un pueblo sacado de un libro de cuentos. Hermosas fachadas de edificios y casas que le dan un toque muy especial. En nuestra edición de agosto, también fuimos al altiplano guatemalteco, casi en la frontera con México, específicamente al municipio de Nentón, en Huehuetenango para encontrarnos con una hermosa aventura color turquesa, se trata de la incomparable Laguna Brava, un hermoso destino para los amantes de las aventuras ecológicas y naturales. En TurismoTV queremos trascender a solamente informar, queremos que el viajero interactúe con nosotros por medio de sus experiencias en las redes sociales y que se adentre a los fantásticos lugares turísticos que ofrecemos cada mes.
Ulm is a city full of surprises and could be described as a town taken from a fairy tale book. Beautiful facades of buildings and houses give a special view. In our August’s issue, we also visited the Guatemalan highlands, very close to the Mexican border. Specifically, in the borough of Nentón, in Huehuetenango where we can find the beautiful turquoise adventure. This is the Laguna Brava (Brava Lagoon). It is a beautiful destination for natural and ecological adventure lovers. In TurismoTV, we want to go beyond informing, we want travelers to interact with us through their experiences in social media and discover those beautiful places that we address every month. Come with us in this tourist adventure!

Albert Einstein’s hometown by the Danube’s riverbank. It splits Ulm from Neu-Ulm, the part of the city located in the state of Bavaria. Ulm is a German city of the state Baden- Württemberg. It is located between Stuttgart t the west, Augsburg and Munich to the east.

Mientras te adentras a la ciudad puedes apreciar la mezcla de edificios modernos llenos de actualidad en contraste con los edificios históricos. Las calles empedradas y sus puentes tan tradicionales son parte de la belleza de la ciudad. Es muy pintoresca y los turistas gozan de caminarla para respirar ese aire tan ameno paseando entre las hermosas callecitas y casitas que parecen sacados de un cuento. Y mientras se descansa, ubicar los hermosos cafés o bares que se encuentran en el recorrido para degustar de un buen café y detenerte a leer un buen libro.
While you get deeper in its city, you may appreciate the blend of modern buildings full of current construction and its contrast with historical buildings. The stoned streets and its bridges are traditional and part of the beauty of the city. It is very colorful and tourists love walking through it to breath a fresh air. Sightseeing through its beautiful streets and seeing its houses that look like taken from a fairy tale. While resting, you may look for the beautiful cafes or bars that may be seen on the way to delight a nice coffee and read a good book.
Durante la tarde puedes apreciar el atardecer al lado del Danubio, como una hermosa postal llena de colores durante las estaciones cálidas y una hermosa escena de nieve durante el invierno. Sigues muy atento de los edificios importantes y te encuentras a la Catedral, la más alta del mundo con sus detalles llamativos. La Torre del Carnicero es otra estructura importante de apreciar en el recorrido, así como las típicas pinturas en las fachadas de edificios y casas.
During the afternoon, you could appreciate the sunset next to the Danube river, it is like observing a post card full of colors and during the welcoming seasons and a beautiful snowy scene during the winter. You still pay close attention to the buildings and you may encounter the Cathedral, it is the highest of the world and its appealing details. The Butchers’ Tower is another important structure to appreciate during the visit, also observe the typical paintings in the facades of the buildings and houses.

Muchos de los turistas llegan a la ciudad atraídos por su Catedral. Es una obra de arquitectura gótica muy impresionante, llama la atención las agujas y torres de gran altura. Es la torre más alta del mundo, 161.53 metros. La planta de la catedral tiene 123.36 metros de largo por 48.8 metros de ancho. No existe en el mundo otra iglesia protestante que sea de mayor tamaño. Cuenta con 768 escalones para llegar a la cúspide a la que accedes si deseas realizar unas fotografías impresionantes de la hermosa ciudad y lo que le rodea. Pueden caber 2 mil personas sentadas, pero bajo circunstancias especiales, se pueden habilitar para unas 4,500.
Many of the visitors come to the city attracted by its Cathedral. It is a building of Gothic architecture very impressive. Its height catches the eye. It is the highest tower in the world, 161.53 meters. The ground of the cathedral has 123.36 in its length and 48.8 in its width. There is no other Protestant church in the world as this size. It has 768 steps to reach its top, where you access and you can take pictures of the beautiful city around it. It could accommodate 2 thousand people sitting, but under special circumstances, it could hold up to 4,500 persons.

El Ayuntamiento y su reloj astronómico City Hall and its astronomic clock Tiene una fachada hermosa muy llamativa llena de detalles que cautivan al visitante. Además, es muy visitada pues en la cara del este, tiene un magnifico reloj astronómico con el zodiaco y más arriba un reloj solar. Es muy apreciado en la ciudad y los turistas se maravillan de observarlo.
It has a beautiful and appealing façade full of details that captivate the visitor. Besides that, it is visited a lot because on the East side, it has a magnificent astronomic clock with the Zodiac and above it, there is a solar clock. It is so cherished in the city and the visitors get impressed by it.

Los hermosos canales que atraviesan la ciudad le dan un especial encanto a Ulm. Rinconcitos llenos de color y movimiento para admirar por horas. Puedes pasar por el barrio del Centro Histórico y seguir hasta encontrar el hermoso Barrio de los Pescadores, al que algunos llaman “La pequeña Venecia”. Las casas de la ciudad en esta parte, están entre los canales del río Danubio. En el Barrio de los Pescadores encuentras una arquitectura muy tradicional, con sus casas con entramado. Si deseas almorzar puedes ir a muchos de los lugares que se ofrecen con sus insuperables platillos. La casa más famosa de Ulm se encuentra aquí, la Schiefe Haus, que ahora funciona como un hotel. Figura como la casa más inclinada del mundo, por la ubicación que tiene a orillas del Blau, también encontrarás icónicos restaurantes como el Wirtshaus Krone y Forelle, con casi cuatro siglos de existencia, platillos exquisitos y una experiencia alemana culinaria te esperan.

The beautiful channels that go through the city give a special enchantment to Ulm. Little corners full of color and movement are there to be admired for hours. You may visit the Historical Center quarter and proceed to the Fishermen’s Quarter, and some call it Little Venice. Some houses, in this area, are among the Danube River. In the Fishermen’s Quarter you may find traditional architecture, their houses are formed with lattices. If you wish to have lunch, you many go to many places that offer unbeatable dishes. The most famous house of Ulm is here, la Schiefe Haus. It is a hotel now. It is the most crooked house of the world, because it is located at the edges of Blau. You will encounter iconic restaurants, such as, Wirtshaus Krone and Forelle, and with almost four centuries of existence. Delicious plates and a German culinary experience are waiting for you.

Being the home town of the scientist of all times and father of the modern Astronomy, Albert Einstein, in Ulm, you may find monuments that with pride remind everyone of where he was born.
Cuando llegas a la ciudad, te encuentras directamente con el monumento color marrón. En el medio de la calle sobre la peatonal principal está el sitio en donde estaba la casa donde nació, aquel 14 de mayo de 1879, en la Bahnhofstrasse 20. Sin embargo, su familia se mudo a Múnich cuando Einstein tenía un año.
When you come to the city, you may find immediately a brown monument. In the middle of street on the main street for pedestrians, there is a site where Einstein’s house was. He was born on May 14, 1879 at Bahnhofstrasse 20. However, his family moved to Munich when Einstein was one-year-old.

Se alzan por la ciudad y muestran a una ciudad medieval amurallada para protegerse de los enemigos, pero también de la fuerza del Danubio que evitaba las inundaciones. Las murallas permanecen en el tiempo recordando aquellos tiempos de guerras, espacios muy recorridos por los visitantes en el medio de distintos tours que se ofrecen al turista.
They raise throughout the city and show a Medieval city walled to protect themselves from enemies, but also from the Danube’s waters to avoid floods. The walls remain throughout the time to remind those days of war. These are visited by the travelers and tours are offered as well.

Gastronomía en Ulm Gastronomy in Ulm
Algo de lo que adoran los alemanes es desayunar un delicioso strudel o panecillos. Las panaderías-cafeterías son geniales para degustar de un caliente y delicioso café o chocolate, puedes acompañar de los famosos pretzels dulces o anillos de pan salados. Indiscutible de lo mejor son sus salchichas tan famosas en todo el mundo. Hay tres tipos, la Brühwurst, que es cocida, la Bratwurst elaborada con carne de cerco y de vaca que comúnmente se asan y finalmente la Pimmelwurst que es muy picante. Los alemanes acostumbran también desayunar una Brühwurst. Para beber, de lo más famoso son las cervezas de trigo, fabricadas en la ciudad de Ulm podrías pedir una de medio litro por unos €3-5. La cocina en Ulm no es cara, puedes encontrar un delicioso almuerzo en un restaurante por unos €18 con postre y bebida. Es importante que te adentres en sus rinconcitos para encontrar los restaurantes más suculentos y a los mejores precios.

There is something that German people love, and that is to have as a breakfast a delicious strudel or roll. The cafes-bakeries are great to delight a delicious and hot coffee or chocolate. You may include the famous sweet pretzels or rings of salty bread. Unquestionably, their sausages are the best and famous around the world. There are three types: Brühwurst, it is boiled; Bratwurst, elaborated with pork and cow meat and commonly they are grilled; finally, Pimmelwurst, it is very hot. Germans usually have Brühwurst for their breakfast. The most famous drinks are wheat beers, manufactured in Ulm. You may have one of half a quarter for €3-5. Food in Ulm is not expensive, you may find a delicious lunch at a restaurant for €18 with dessert and drink. It is important to go into its corners so you may find restaurants with abundant food and better prices.

Para transportarte, aprovecha el autobús. Algunas zonas cuentan con tranvía que es otra muy buena idea. Por un ticket de un viaje pagas €2.00 o bien, puedes aprovechar el pago de un día por €5.00

La temperatura de sus veranos (que es entre julio y agosto) es bastante soportables, no mayor a los 23 grados y los inviernos no son extremos con apenas con unos -2 grados que es un clima estupendo.
•
Si vas por varios días te recomendamos utilizar los trenes para visitar las ciudades aledañas, a Stutgart no tardas más de una hora y a Múnich para apreciar su hermosa plaza central la Marienplatz, apenas una media hora. ¡Aprovecha!
•
A los locales les encanta transportarse en bicicleta, es saludable además de económico y puedes llegar bastante bien a los puntos importantes de la ciudad. Podrías alquilar una cerca de la estación del tren.
•
Debes reservar con tiempo pues durante la primavera y el verano los hoteles se llenan muy rápido. Si deseas economizar encuentras pequeñas ofertas de €35.00 por persona o un apartamento para 4 personas por unos €55.00 la noche.

To move around, take advantage of the bus. There are some zones that have the tramway which is another good idea. For a ticket, one-way, you may pay €2.00, or you may take advantage to pay a whole-day ticket for €5.00.

The temperature during its summer time (July and August) is very comfortable, no more than 23 degrees and winters are not that extreme, the most -2 degrees. That is a great weather.
•
If you plan to go for many days, we remind you to take the trains and visit the neighboring cities. Stutgart, you will get there in one hour. Munich, to appreciate its beautiful square, Marienplatz, in half an hour. Go for it!
•
People from the locality love to ride bicycles. It is health and besides very cheap. You could get there to many important spots in the city. You may rent a bike very close to the train station.
•
You should book ahead of time and during spring and summer the hotels get booked up very fast. If you decided to save some money, you may find promotions of €35.00 per person or an apartment for four people for €55.00 per night.

Turquoise waters By Eugenia de León, TurismoTV Magazine, August 2020 Ubicada en el municipio de Nentón, Huehuetenango, Guatemala, la Laguna Brava, que originalmente se llama Yolnabaj, se encuentra a 1,142 metros de altura sobre el nivel del mar, está rodeada por sierras muy elevadas llenas de vegetación y un clima frío y neblina, propio de la zona, muy acogedor.
It is located in the borough of Nentón, Huehuetenango, Guatemala. Laguna Brava’s name originally was Yolnabaj, it is 1142 meters over the level of the sea, and it is surrounded by high mountains full of vegetation and weather is cold and foggy. It is a characteristic of the area and it is very cozy.
Es parte del hermoso paisaje del altiplano guatemalteco lleno de zonas y áreas protegidas para evitar su contaminación y conservar su belleza.
It is part of the beautiful landscape of the Guatemalan highlands full of protected areas to avoid pollution and preserve its beauty.
Se encuentra nutrida por ríos numerosos que descienden de la extensa cadena orográfica de los Cuchumatanes, con las cumbres más altas de Guatemala, además de corrientes subterráneas, que dan como resultado maravillosos tonos turquesa y azul profundo.
It is nurtured by multiple rivers coming down from extensive orographic chain of Los Cuchumatanes, with the highest summits in Guatemala. The undercurrents give as an outcome those marvelous turquoise and dark blue colors.
La laguna se encuentra aproximadamente a 420 kilómetros de la Ciudad de Guatemala, el acceso no está en muy buenas condiciones, por lo que en vehículo puedes llegar en aproximadamente 7 horas.

The lagoon is located 420 kilometers away from Guatemala City. The access to it is not in good conditions, so the trip could be seven hours long.

Es un área protegida con abundante vida silvestre, muchas aves migratorias y el hogar de venados, cerdos salvajes, armadillos y tigrillos entre otros muchos animales.
It is a protected area with abundant wild life, many migratory birds and it is home to deer, wild pigs, armadillos, margay among others.
¿Por qué Laguna Brava? Why Laguna Brava?
Los locatarios comenzaron a llamarla “brava” (que significa enojada o molesta), porque debido a los fuertes vientos, en ocasiones sus aguas emiten un sonido que pareciera se trata de una queja o un grito de enojo. El agua en contacto con el viento se agita y así es como se produce el sonido. Sin embargo, sus aguas son bastante tranquilas, es un escenario magnífico para la fotografía.
People from the locality, they call it “brava”, which means upset or angry. This is because of the strong winds, occasionally its waters make a noise similar to a complaint of someone yelling because being upset. Its waters, when they come in contact with the wind, they get agitated and that is how this sound is made. However, its waters are very still, and it is a beautiful scenario for photography.

Su hermoso color es muy distintivo, es una hermosa joya natural que sirve de escenario para muchas aventuras fotográficas. Muchos viajeros y aventureros realizan tours y se adentran a la laguna, especialmente durante el verano.
Its beautiful color is very distinctive. It is a natural jewel that is used for many adventurers involving photography. Many travelers and adventurers prepare tours and visit the lagoon, especially during summer time.
El color tan distintivo del agua turquesa permanece así la mayor parte del tiempo, pero varía dependiendo del entorno natural. Sus aguas son tan cristalinas que se aprecian traslucidas, es un verdadero deleite si te gustan las aventuras naturales.
The color is so characteristic of turquoise water and it remains like this great part of the time, but it varies depending of its natural environment. Its waters are crystalline and see-through. It is a delight if you like these natural adventures.

La hermosa laguna es considerada el segundo cuerpo de agua más grande de Guatemala después del Lago de Atitlán en Sololá.

El camino para llegar es muy hermoso, ya que el paisaje del altiplano guatemalteco está lleno de vegetación y el clima es frío.

Debes utilizar ropa adecuada y cómoda, zapatos deportivos, gorra y traje de baño. No olvides una chaqueta para el frío.

Es una buena idea llevar repelente para insectos.

En Huehuetenango existen muchas oficinas de turismo que ofrecen excelentes tours para que puedas acompañarte de un guía local, será una aventura muy entretenida aprender del ecosistema, la fauna y flora, así como las costumbres de las comunidades.

The beautiful lagoon is considered the biggest second water body besides Atitlán Lake in Sololá.

The way to get there is beautiful, because the Guatemalan highlands are full of vegetation and the weather is cold.

You should wear the proper clothing, sneakers, cap, swim suit. Do not forget to bring your jacket for the cold weather.

It is a good idea to take insect repellent.

In Huehuetenango, there are many travel agencies that offer tours and a local tourist guide. It will be an amusing adventure to learn about the ecosystem, fauna, flora and other traditions from their communities.
