Page Six Gift of Time I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve stayed awake at night thinking about what the future may bring. Sometimes, it’s terrifying. Other times it’s overwhelming. But most times, it’s so exciting that I think I’m going to explode. I make so many plans, and have so many ideas, that my head starts to spin - and the world begins to whiz by so fast that I forget to breathe. But lately, time has taken on a whole new role. Confined to our homes, with the threat of a worldwide pandemic virus moving among us, time is providing us with neither the comfort we need, nor the freedom we crave. It marches on, cold and cruel, taking with it our most precious moments, our biggest accomplishments, our hopes and our dreams. It’s a bad time for our world. People are dying, losing their jobs, and postponing their lives. Worst of all, we don’t really know when, or even how, it will all end. This is one of those times where it can be terrifying. And as I listen to endless news reports and scary social media panic, it sometimes becomes very overwhelming. But then I remember that time stands still for no one, and I get excited again to come out the other end of this - and I start making my plans for the future all over again.
To those who’ve suffered loss - I send my sincerest and most heartfelt condolences. Taken too soon, no matter what age, those you loved will never be forgotten. If I could rewind the clock for you, I would. May time grant you the peace you need to mourn and the love you need to heal. To all the parents and families - I send you patience and persistence. Time passes slowly when there’s no school or friends to play with. And now that you’ve baked, cooked, cleaned, organized, sorted, painted, planted, fixed and fussed with every single thing in the house, you might just have to sit and talk. Are you reconnecting yet? Are you spending more quality time with your kids? Is it possible that working and/or learning from home could become the norm? Only time will tell.

Keyboards and connections that enabled the free passage of information across the globe allowed for an opportunity that Bezos simply couldn’t pass up. This was something too good to be true, and something even Bezos says he would have regretted missing out on. So, with his quick mind and mathematical prowess, he saw the opportunity to pounce. The time had come to pack his bags and head out on a crosscountry trip to Seattle that would forever change history.
