UKULELE MARTIN HAYES ORCHESTRA OF AND GREAT BRITAIN DENNIS CAHILL
Thursday 29 September 8pm
Wednesday 5 October 8pm
Thursday 6 October 8pm
Join Natural Navigator and bestselling author Tristan Gooley to discover the secrets of reading water. Drawing on stories of his pioneering journeys, from wild swimming in England to Polynesian canoe navigation via the icy mysteries of the Arctic, Tristan explains how to spot the clues, signs and patterns in the water all around us; from a glass of water to a puddle, from ponds to oceans. A must-see for walkers, sailors, swimmers and everyone interested in the natural world.
Following their triumphant, first-ever performance in the city in 2014, Turner Sims is once again set to fill the O2 Guildhall Southampton as the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain return.
A chance to enjoy first-hand two of the most extraordinary talents to emerge in the world of Irish traditional music in a partnership that spans the last thirty years. Martin Hayes is considered a master of the fiddle. His unique sound, his sublime lyrical and melodic sensibility, creates an astonishing and formidable artistic intelligence. Dennis Cahill is a guitar virtuoso, whose spare, essential accompaniment to Martin’s fiddle delivers an unforgettable listening experience. Their adventurous, soulful interpretations of traditional tunes are recognised the world over for their exquisite musicality and irresistible rhythm.
Tristan set up his natural navigation school in 2008 and is the author of the award-winning and bestselling books, The Natural Navigator (2010), The Walker’s Guide to Outdoor Clues and Signs (2014) and the newly published How to Read Water
