TVILIGHT selected as a finalist for 2013 Sustainia Award
Sep 23, 2013 Groningen, the Netherlands - TVILIGHT BV is proud to announce that its Intelligent Street Lighting Solution has been nominated as a finalist for the 2013 Sustainia Award – and nominated as the Best solution for Cities. Sustainia holds an annual international competition which awards solutions with significant potential to help build a more sustainable future. The award committee is chaired by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger who is joined by Chair of IPCC Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri, former Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland and EU Commissioner Connie Hedegaard. “Selected among more than 500 projects submitted from 79 countries, the top-10 Sustainia projects represent innovative approaches that can lead to a sustainable future. They will inspire more businesses to take green practicing to heart.” Across the globe millions of street lights burn throughout the night even when no one is around. This results in an unnecessary waste of resources and significantly contributes to light pollution. In Europe alone the powering of street lights accounts for EUR 10 billion in energy costs annually. TVILIGHT Intelligent Street Lighting Solutions offers a simple and effective remedy which can be applied to cities across the globe. The lights dim to a pre-defined level during off-peak hours and as soon as any presence is detected, all the surrounding lights glow brighter. "We feel honored and grateful that our solution has been shortlisted for the Sustainia Awards. The nomination is a testimony to its positive social, economic and environmental impact on the local communities." confirms Chintan Shah, CEO of Tvilight BV.
