Slick’s Bar LIFE IS CRAZY, and when doors open, well you gotta say what the hell and take the jump. When life gave us lemons we decided to slice them up, add vodka and tonic water. After giving up a career in the corporate world I was ready to run off and open a little bar on the beach in Mexico when love got me to stay. Billy and I talked about hopes and dreams and it was clear that we needed to create a business where we were able to treat people as friends and family. To create in environment so they felt they were hanging out in our garage drinking cold beers and just shooting the B.S. None of us had ever had a bar before or even worked at one. We hired our family and worked our tails off to learn the ropes. And it seemed to work. It has become something beyond our expectations. We truly have created a family business where everyone is our Slick’s family and we love it.

Hands down best bar in Nampa! Since the first time I stepped foot into Slicks, the owners have made me feel like family. This is the best place in the valley! Very welcoming ALWAYS a cold beer at an honest price, every bartender is happy and quick! This is a home town bar with love to go round!!!!! I have always been treated like family here. Love the Sunday bloody mary bar. Great place, fun times, great people and awesome bartenders! Rock and Roll Bingo with Mitch, Goldfish racing, Jello wrestling, Bikini bike washes, and many more. There is always something going on at Slick's Bar! I Love this place...Friendly Staff and Customers and GREAT BLOODY MARYS!!! I’m a customer for life!!!

The 2C needs something different and that’s what we aim to give them. Hot rods, bikes, and great times. Idaho Craft beers on tap and full bar. Back patio is open so sit inside or out! The hood will never be the same!

BEER 101 What’s in beers Most beers are made up of four basic ingredients: · Barley, which is processed into malt, then brewed · Hops, which are added during brewing to balance the malt with a more bitter flavor · Yeast, which adds carbonation and alcohol content during fermentation · Water

Ale vs. lager

GUIDE

The most basic distinction to make in a beer is whether it’s an ale or a lager, which is determined by how the yeast ferments during the brewing process.

Beers are brewed in tanks, and in ales, the yeast ferments at the top of the tank, which is called top-fermenting. Ale-brewing is done in warmer environments, generally between 60 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit, which makes the yeast brew more quickly and causes more flavorful, complex and generally darker beers.

Lagers are bottom-fermenting, which means the yeast ferments at the bottom of the tank when lagers are brewing. Lagers brew in colder temperatures for a longer time than ales, which causes the yeast to produce fewer of the compounds that add flavor. This process makes for crisper, less-complex beers.

All About Tasting...

For Advertising Information Please Call Charles at 571-1812 GUIDE

Wine Tasting 101 - The Technique It goes without saying that tasting is largely about having fun. But for those looking to glean the most from the wines on pour, swirling is a great way to stoke (read: aerate) wine’s myriad aromas. For maximum control, place your glass on a flat surface and swirl while grasping the stem. When tasting, hold glasses by the stem rather than the bowl; holding them by the bowl coats glasses in greasy fingerprints and can disturb the temperature of the wine (ideally it’s been poured at just the right temp). Inhale deeply before taking a sip; wine’s aromas comprise one of its most beguiling offerings! Upon drinking, swirl the wine around in your mouth to ensure it coats all the surfaces; we pick up different texture and flavor sensations in different parts of our mouths. Taste white and lighter wines before heavier wines, such as bold reds, and save the sweetest wines for last. This ensures the boldest and sweetest wines don’t overwhelm the more delicate ones you sip first. www.winecountry.com/blog/etiquette-wine-tasting-dos-donts/

TASTING AND EVALUATING BEER WISELY Drinking beer is easy, but evaluating it as you drink requires a little more diligence. Here’s a good step-by-step process to evaluate beer like a pro: 1. Purposely pour the beer to create at least two fingers depth of head in the glass. Creating a decent head also creates a fuller aromatic bouquet. 2. Experience the beer’s aroma first because aromatics dissipate quickly. 3. Look at the beer’s color and clarity. The color and clarity of beer changes from style to style, so don’t expect all beers to look the same. 4. When tasting the beer, try to discern the various flavors of the primary ingredients — malt, hops, yeast, and so on. Note fruitiness and warmth (if any). In addition, pay attention to whether the beer is sweet, dry, or acidic, as well as where those flavors are experienced (foretaste, midtaste, aftertaste). 5. Determine the body and texture of the beer. The body may be full, medium, or thin; texture may be watery, creamy, chewy, gassy, and so on. 6. Reflect on the beer. After tasting the beer and discerning its various flavors, aromas, and textures, decide whether the various parts of the beer work harmoniously to create an enjoyable beverage. www.dummies.com/food-drink/drinks/beer/beer-for-dummies-cheat-sheet/

Vizcaya Winery Make Vizcaya Winery and vineyards part of your next wine tasting adventure! At 8987 S Greenhurst, Kuna it is located just 7 miles South of the Ten-Mile/I-84 exit, in the Heart of the Treasure Valley. Check your GPS, the winery is likely just minutes from wherever you may be.

Vizcaya Winery is the vision of Larry and Kay Hansen, fueled by their Estate Vineyards in Meridian and Kuna, and the wine making expertise of Mike Crowley (Syringa). The Hansen's started growing Tempranillo and other varietals in 2004 at their Windy Ridge Estate vineyard. After several years of providing grapes for other wineries, they decided to produce their own wine. They've grown to include two vineyards, a new production facility, and offer Ten different wines at their Vizcaya tasting room. Acclaim: Vizcaya's 2011 Tempranillo was awarded a Double Gold - Best of Class at the 2015 Idaho wine competition and their 2012 Tempranillo was recognized by Wine Business Monthly as one of the top 9 in the Northwest. They have also won awards with Albarino, Pinot Gris, Rose', Malbec, and Windy Ridge Red (blend). What's Albarino you might say! Albarino is a Spanish White varietal that the Hansen's introduced to the Idaho wine community in 2015. The current 2016 vintage is mostly comprised of their Estate-grown Albarino grapes. You are invited to experience Vizcaya Winery's unique Idaho wines. The tasting room is open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 6:00. Complementary tours of the winery and vineyards are available upon request. Follow Vizcaya Winery on facebook to make sure you don't miss one of the special events or summertime concerts.

The original structure, still standing, dates back to 1915. Located along the Railroad Mainline, Vizcaya Winery's VIP Lounge which sits atop the Winery, was built to resemble a train station with Clock! Parma Ridge Winery It’s all about Joy

The owners of Parma Ridge, Storm and Stephanie Hodge are excited to bring joy to people through wonderful wine, fabulous food, an amazing view... creating the full experience for their customers. The tasting room & bistro offers a variety of estate wines, a full menu and a beautiful view. Storm is both the winemaker and chef and is eager to engage your senses with the combination of wine and food. Stephanie’s original artwork flanks the walls of the tasting room and is featured on the Parma Ridge wine labels which just adds to the atmosphere. Storm and Stephanie, owners of Parma Ridge, are both artists and are interested in bringing you the entire experience at Parma Ridge. History Dick and Shirley Dickstein Planted the 9.5-acre vineyard in 1998 and established Parma Ridge Vineyards. When Storm and Stephanie purchased the property, they knew they wanted to have a tasting room with regular business hours. They were inspired by the landscape and decided it would be an excellent place for the tasting room, so they converted the old garage/shop into the tasting room & bistro and poured the patio. They opened in August of 2015. The patio sits on a view of the north vineyard and overlooks the valley and part of the Boise River. The sunsets are stunning, and people enjoy spending an afternoon on the patio. The Sunnyslope Wine trail welcomed them as part of the stops on the trail. From day one, the community has welcomed them, and they have expanded their menu and wine list.

Wine They hand-harvest and make all the wine on-site. Varietals Grown Whites, Viognier, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Reds, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Franc (planted in 2017), Cabernet Sauvignon (planted in 2017), Petit Syrah (planted in 2017) Savor the Flavor Offering a full menu http://www.parmaridge. wine/catering.html in the tasting room & bistro and custom menus for your scheduled event, Storm is looking forward to making your day special. From appetizers to full course meals, Parma Ridge offers both the taste and the view. Come by during tasting room hours to enjoy one of his delicious menu items or contact them to plan your special event. REGULAR HOURS: 12-9 pm Friday, 12-5 pm Saturday and 11 am-5 pm Sunday with wine tasting and cuisine served all weekend. Happy Hour on Friday from 4-7 pm and a Special Menu Sundays! Live Music Scheduled on the Patio during the Summer Months and Specials throughout the year on Valentines Weekend, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and many others. Check the Events Page for details: http://www.parmaridge.wine/events.html. RESERVATIONS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The service was impeccable and the entire evening was an experience like I have never had. We were never rushed, but always sure to have anything and everything we could possibly want. Doug treated us as though we were the most important people on earth, yet he did this with a warmth and caring that you get most with family. I cannot describe what the evening meant to my husband and me, and we will surely never forget it!” – Hilary B
