Please say “I Saw It In The Parents Guide”
Though not all students who enroll in a Taekwondo Program do so because of the character building aspect of the training, it is up to the Teacher to make sure all of them are exposed to that aspect of the program. It is important to note that is takes more than a black belt to make a good teacher. It is up to the Teacher to emphasize that Taekwondo training is much more than just the physical. Emphasis is placed on Courtesy, Integrity, Self-Control, Perseverance, and an indomitable spirit. Hard work builds character and results in a high degree of success. A good attitude and a responsible student is an expected result.
Courtesy: Being polite, courteous, and respectful to ones-self as well as to others is taught early in the training. This is practiced by the teacher as an example to the students so that they may understand it is important.
Integrity: Being honest
and sincere with ones-self and others in important. There is very little we cannot do if we decide to do our best to achieve.
Self-Control: We learn
to channel our energy in a positive way, both in and out of class. We learn there are better alternatives to handling situations. Hard practice produces results and we can put off the desire for immediate gratification with the expectation of a greater reward.
Perseverance: The program emphasizes that
the only sure way to fail is to never try. If we apply our energy, both physical and mental, in a positive way we stand the highest chance of success.
Indominitable Spirit: Our spirit is stronger than our physical body, there is energy greater than our physical strength.
