Multiplex Stubbornness Affects Movie Collections The current trend when it comes to film distribution highly favours multiplexes across the country in terms of releasing smaller films. The recent cases that have brought this

issue to the forefront are David Dhawan's Chasme Baddoor, and YashRaj Films' Mere Dad Ki Maruti. However, the latest to bear the brunt of the Cineplex stubbornness is the recently release Rohan Sippy film Nautanki Saala. A couple of days ago, just prior to the film's release, the industry was abuzz with talk of the dispute between the makers of Nautanki Saala and leading multiplex chain PVR. The reason behind the dispute was the profit sharing ratio that was being demanded by the Cineplex chain, which severely put a strain on the filmmakers and audiences. However, it is learnt that the dispute has since been resolved, though Sippy's film did suffer a setback in terms of first day collections. Speaking to Taran Adarsh, who elaborates on the dilemma saying, "If you see Nautanki Saala managed to generate about Rs 3.25 crores on Friday, now the reason for this was the lack of listing in the newspapers or anywhere else for that matter. From a layman's point of view, whenever a film is releasing there are some listings and advertisements that appear, however due to this dispute the makers of Nautanki Saala suffered a setback since the matter was resolved unfortunately after the publication timings."
