Jarrod, is a Bulloch County native who has a strong commitment to our community. A GSU gradu-
ate with a degree in construction management and has been employed with Paul S. Akins Company as a project manager and estimator since graduating. Recent local projects include the construction of the new Claxton City Hall, additions to Trinity Presbyterian Church and the Brunswick Police Station. Jarrod is a member of the 2015 Leadership Bulloch Class, co-founder and board member of the Bulloch County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and an active participant in the Wounded Warriors Project. Jarrod is married to Heather and they have one daughter Lexi Jo.

Ralph is one of only three healthcare administrators who are dually nationally certified by the
National Association of Boards and the American College of Healthcare Administrators. Ralph has just completed a major expansion of Southern Manor expanding the bed count to 45 and adding specialized services like an Alzheimer’s care unit. Civically Ralph serves as Secretary of the Assisted Living Association of Georgia, member of the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce and past Secretary of the Statesboro Breast Cancer Foundation.

One way we plan on doing this is with the new Companion Care division of Southern Manor that will be a sitter service for elderly people that want to remain in their home. Kelly graduated from Georgia Southern University in May 2000 and began working in the advertis-
ing department at the Statesboro Herald the following Monday. She was soon named senior advertising representative and was then promoted to her current positon as retail advertising manager. Kelly also oversees the cover, sales and themes for the monthly Moments magazine. As an avid hiker, cave explorer and rock climber Kelly loves to test her physical boundaries. She also loves to help others. She often combines these two passions by participating in community and regional 5k and Mud runs that support local charities. Kelly is quiet, modest and often works behind the scenes, but her strong sense of ethics and determination shines in both her active outdoor lifestyle and in the workplace.

Jake is a graduate of GSU and was the first editor of Connect Statesboro before founding

Dr. Penn grew up in Beaufort, S.C., and attended Georgetown University for her undergraduate. She
completed medical school and her pediatric residency at MUSC in Charleston, SC. She is a Board Certified Member of the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In addition to her pediatric training, she also holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of South Carolina. A native of Riga, Latvia, Safonovs served as a leading ballet dancer for the Latvian National Ballet
Theatre. While in Statesboro, Safonovs has built an outstanding dance program of over 100 students. He teaches weekly classes, along with his staff, and intensive dance programs each summer. Recently Jurijs traveled to Taiwan as a guest teacher and has coordinated an exchange program for Taiwanese dancers to study and perform here in Statesboro alongside his students. He is admired locally, statewide and all throughout the Southeast and as far away as Taiwan and Russia for his knowledge and expertise in dance.

Andy is a graduate of Georgia Southern University receiving both his BA and Masters degrees while
holding offices in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. For the past eight years, Andy has served in several capacities as an educator at Bulloch Academy in addition to holding the positions of Head Wrestling Coach, Head Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, and Assistant Football Coach. He is a four-time GISA Region 3 Coach of the Year and was named GISA State Wrestling Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2015. He currently serves as an assistant alumni advisor for the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He plays current volunteer roles in various philanthropy efforts including the Striking Out Alzheimer’s Softball Tournament and Kappa Sigma’s “A Greater Cause to Military Heroes.”

Andrea joined AgSouth in 2005 after working in the banking industry in Statesboro since graduating

Matt graduated from GSU with a construction management degree while working in the family busi-
ness. He has worked in the business in some aspect pretty much his entire life. After graduation he joined Ellis Wood Contracting, a well-known site and asphalt paving company, full time. Shortly after joining the company full time, the country entered a severe recession which had a devastating impact on the business. Throughout the downturn Matt and his team never lost sight of their commitment to the communities they serve. Matt has also continued the tradition of helping with natural disasters throughout our state.
