Also on the card, Josh Koscheck returns from a long hiatus to take on Jake Ellenberger. With both fighters coming off of losing streaks, one hopes to turn it around with this next matchup. It will remain to be seen if Koscheck suffers Law from the infamous ring rust that plagues fighters who step out of the octagon for long periods of time, but either way it should make for an interesting match. Also returning for the card is Raquel Pennington vs. Holly Holm, Tony Ferguson vs. Gleison Tibau and Mark Munoz vs. Roan Carneiro, along with a slew of other fighters trying to make a name for themselves. Ronda Rousey, defending champion, may have to concede her title to contender Cat Zingano, who has a 9-win streak behind her and is looking to make it an even 10.

Ronda Rousey has become a huge name in MMA — and in the media in general. She’s undefeated and has defended her title many times with no one seeming to give her much trouble. Her next challenger, though, will be her hardest test to date. Brett Cat Zingano was supposed to fight Rousey long ago, but due to personal issues and injuries the fight has been repeatedly pushed back. Zingano will finally get her chance to try to prove to the world that she can take Rousey’s crown. Zingano is also undefeated with a 9-win streak. She focuses more on her stand-up than her ground game, which is mostly opposite to Rousey. Rousey tends to strike a little and then look for an opening to throw her opponent to the ground and have her way with them. This will be an exciting match, and someone will come off of their winning streak when all is said and done. Do you think Rousey will retain her title?

A: Evaluations and assessments are usually interchangeable terms; however, clinical evaluations are mandatory by DBHDD for all first and subsequent DUI offenders. Both alcohol and drug assessments and clinical evaluations require a face-to-face interview with a clinician. DUI offenders can only be evaluated and/or treated by clinicians on the DBHDD state registry. Running for dummies Your easy guide to exercising without wanting to die For most beginners, feeling the unfamiliar tightness of your lungs or the new aches in your legs isn’t the most desirable sensation in the world. However, running does not have to be a painful process and it should not be one either. With the proper gear, technique and training, running can become an incredibly invigorating experience.

Running gear One of the most important aspects of running is to remember that proper running gear varies according to the individual runner. As tempting as it is to purchase shoes by color preference or style, it is far more important to find the right fit for your running form. Running shoes will be one of the most important

purchases for your exercise you make. Each running shoe has different aspects, such as heel drops and the type of material used. With the growing popularity of minimalist running, understanding the idea of a heel drop will make shopping an easier process. The heel drop options help to accommodate various running forms for different types of styles. This is beneficial for those who have running habits that can cause injury. Picking the right type of shoe will help to prevent accidents from occurring and make the run more comfortable. "A heel drop is essentially a measurement for how fat a running shoe’s heel feels," Gearinstitute.com wrote. “ A shoe with a thick heel demands that you run on your heels — it shoves a wedge

Proper equipment and proper technique can go a long way toward alleviating the pain a beginning runner experiences. of foam beneath your heel, which has to hit the ground first. A shoe that’s flat allows you to run on your midfoot — so your entire foot hits the ground at the same moment as your heel. That’s not only the most efficient stride, but it’s also the one that will send the least amount of shock up your leg, reducing your propensity for injuries.” If there is still some hesitation in which shoes to purchase, one of the best resources to use is a running store. Some running stores offer a free running test to pair you up with the correct shoe. During this running test, you’ll be asked to run on a treadmill and your gait will be recorded for evaluation. An employee can then recommend options for several styles and brands.

Technique Technique plays just as large of a role as proper gear. Coach Elfi Oretenburger has been coaching for 15 years now. After receiving training from experts such as Jeff Galloway and the head athletic trainer at UCLA, Jackie Hansen, Ortenburger has some important advice for running form. “Running form cannot be taught or learned for the most part. Most experts agree on that — there is no specific way to run," Oretenburger said. "The elite were born to run in a way that is perfect, and yet many still have their individual style. You can learn, for example, how to run up a hill better by taking a shorter stride, or change your

cadence when you run. But that is not running form. My job as a coach with new runners is to make sure they do not run too much or too fast too soon and don’t try to keep up with others, make sure they get a shoe that works for them and plenty of recovery time.”

Hold yourself accountable Now that you’ve got the right gear and the basics of technique, it’s time to put some miles in and start utilizing the tools you’ve gathered. Taking time with a running coach is ideal, as a running coach can help to schedule out runs and critique your running form. However, a running coach may not always be available, whether it’s due to schedule conflicts or the cost. Luckily, there are many free running plans available online. Having a schedule is important because it will help build endurance. Running is a process, one that requires a lot of dedication. Sticking to a plan will provide the motivation needed to progress towards longer distances. The running community provides support and motivation for all types of runners. Running can be one of the toughest sports out there, but in a way, it can be one of the most intimate. Along the path of the hill climbs and the rougher roads, you’ll find out what your body really is capable of. With enough trust, you’ll come out stronger than you ever imagined.w

Come on and take a Screamride From the studio that created Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and Thrillville, Frontier Developments has created the management and simulation game Screamride. Set in a futuristic roller coaster testing facility, Screamride Tim tasks the gamer with constructing, testing and even destroying roller coasters in tons of gripping and unique ways. Although the game doesn't release until March 3, I got a chance to preview it through an Xbox One demo found in the Xbox One marketplace. The campaign features three main game types: Screamrider, Demolition Expert and Engineer. Each mode is different and offers its own spin on the roller coaster experience. Screamrider mode challenges the

player to make it from the beginning to the end of a roller coaster ride while racking up points by skillfully riding the tracks. Gamers have to dodge deterrents, hit boosts on highlighted areas of the track and tilt the roller Webb coaster cart at dangerous angles for huge points. The more screams achieved, the more points the gamer will rack up. The Demolition Expert mode is all about absolute destruction and mayhem. The gamer has the ability to throw cabins and cars through the air, right into buildings, to earn rewards for their destruction abilities. The destruction in this game mode can be compared to that found in the game Burnout Crash Mode. Also, the cabins thrown at the buildings include a

Southern led South Alabama by four at halftime Saturday before a disastrous second half allowed the Jaguars to get out of Hanner Fieldhouse with a 17-point win. Georgia Southern is just 1-15 in conference play and has been mathematically eliminated from making the eight-team Sun Belt tournament. Georgia Southern baseball took two of three over the weekend over West Virginia after letting one slip away Tuesday night against Georgia Tech. The Eagles had Tech on the ropes. Southern led 4-1 before giving up a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning and then two more runs in the eighth to allow the Yellow

Jackets to escape with a 7-4 win. It was the Eagles’ first loss on the young season, but they bounced back with a 7-4 win over West Virginia Friday. The Mountaineers took game two of the series with a 12-4 win Saturday afternoon. Southern won the rubber game decisively by a score of 15-2 Sunday afternoon. Georgia Southern improves to 5-2 on the year and will host The Citadel Tuesday before traveling to Jacksonville to take on North Florida Wednesday. Southern will then play host to UGA for a three game set this weekend for the last weekend series before conference play gets underway. Baseball season is hitting full stride and basketball season is making its way down the home stretch. This is a fun time to be a part of the Eagle Nation.w

Your fitness app could boost your health care HACKENSACK, N.J. — That phone app keeping track of your exercise and meals might keep you out of the hospital one day. Why give your doctors permission to incorporate data from fitness trackers and health apps into electronic patient records? Well, they might spot signs of an ailment sooner and suggest behavioral changes or medication before you land in the emergency room. They also might be able to monitor how you're healing from surgery or whether you're following a treatment regimen. "Right now we only see our patients for about a 15-minute visit in the office, and it's a very constricted view," said Dr. Lauren Koniaris, a specialist in pulmonary critical care at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. "This really globalizes the view of their health status, so that we're really in contact with them on a much more daily if not hour-to-hour basis. It's almost like a virtual house call." At Hackensack, a handful of patients at risk for heart failure are asked to use a fitness tracker to count steps walked and flights climbed. They are also asked to record what they eat — by photographing the product's bar code, for instance — using a phone app that has a database containing nutrition information on thousands of food items. Using Apple's new HealthKit technology, data from the various trackers and apps gets automatically transferred to the Epic MyChart app on the iPhone. From there,

the information goes to the hospital's records system, which also comes from Epic. Hackensack wants to expand to more patients and start tracking blood pressure and sleep quality, too. But the hospital first needs to ensure that teams are in place to review the glut of data coming in. More broadly, there are consumer privacy and security issues to address, along with questions about whether these trackers and apps really improve patient care. The University of California, San Francisco is studying which gadgets are reliable and whether that reliability extends to patients with extreme conditions. Then they have to figure out what information is really meaningful — not just noise. Many doctors and hospitals see potential. The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, uses Fitbit trackers to monitor hipreplacement patients for a month after surgery. Health workers get data on daily

steps and can tell when patients have trouble walking — a hundred or more miles away. The Ochsner Health System in New Orleans is turning to wireless scales and blood-pressure devices to help reduce readmissions for chronic diseases such as heart failure. Noticing a small weight gain, for instance, might reveal fluid buildup resulting from the heart failing to pump normally. Not only can doctors intervene sooner, they can use the data to show how exercise can help lower blood pressure. "If we're going to succeed in improving health, we have to get patients more engaged in their care," said Dr. Richard Milani, a cardiologist at Ochsner. Heart-attack patients have long been asked to weigh themselves, while those with diabetes have had to check glucose levels. Smartphone technology makes all that easier and gets measurements to doctors more regularly and reliably. There's no forgetting to record a number or transposing digits. With Apple's HealthKit tools, disparate gadgets and records systems can work together more easily. Think of HealthKit as a common language, eliminating the need for translators. Beyond sleep and exercise data coming from fitness trackers, doctors can

eventually incorporate devices that measure glucose, blood pressure, respiratory rates and blood-oxygen levels. The devices communicate with the iPhone wirelessly or through the headphone or charging port. Google, Samsung and Microsoft have similar ambitions that will expand monitoring to users of Android and Windows phones, though they aren't as far along. For now, developers must write separate code for each Android or Windows app to integrate. Gary Wilhelm, 51, who works at Hackensack on payroll and finance technology, joined the hospital's app test after he suffered a heart attack in October. He appeared animated during a check-up this month as he showed Dr. Sarah Timmapuri, his cardiologist, various charts on flights climbed and cholesterol intake. There were a few bad days that Wilhelm blamed on the Super Bowl. Timmapuri instructed Wilhelm to monitor his pulse on his new Fitbit Surge. If it gets to about 155 beats per minute, he's to end his workout. "Even if I did not do a single thing with the information, just the patient knowing that I'm reviewing it will already have a positive effect," Timmapuri said. Mayo patient Randy Smothers, 62, of Chisago City, Minnesota, agrees. He said he was in pain after getting his right hip replaced and would have stayed on his couch without the knowledge that someone was checking on him. "This pedometer they gave me made me walk every day and move on and get going," he said. Apps and trackers could ultimately reduce patient visits, though there's a risk patients would practice self-care. "It may be an aid or a tool to help me deliver better care, but it is just a tool," said Dr. Robert Wergin, president of the American Academy of Family Physicians. "It shouldn't substitute for a face-to-face visit."w

Eugenia Last VIRGO (Aug. 23–Sept. 22) — Deception is apparent. Someone will try to undermine your credibility. Be prepared to fight for what is rightfully yours. Work alone for now. The less said, the better. LIBRA (Sept. 23– Oct. 23) — You are thirsty for knowledge. Attend informal events or seminars that will give you insight into different cultures and philosophies. The people you meet will figure prominently in your future. SCORPIO (Oct. 24– Nov. 22) — You will be asked to help with someone's financial or legal matters. You will gain confidence and contentment knowing that you are doing something nice for someone. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23– Dec. 21) — Partnerships look promising. Show what you can bring to the table and find out how far you can go, based on the total of your and your counterpart's contributions. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22– Jan. 19) — The more you do to help those in need, the more recognition and satisfaction you will receive. You have what it takes to get the work done in a timely manner. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20– Feb. 19) — Get out and have a good time with a friend or lover. Lively activities will provide a welcome diversion from everyday pressures and tension. Romance is in the stars.w

Holli Deal Saxon THREE’S A CROWD — Bulloch County Sheriff ’s deputies met with a man who said he and his fiancee’s ex-husband had been fighting. The reason? The lovebirds allowed the ex-hubby to move in with them, and the “arrangement wasn’t working,” he said. Things around the house became “increasingly hostile” and ended in a fist fight. MAURY MATERIAL — A Golf Club Road man called deputies because he “didn’t know what else to do” when his girlfriend, highly intoxicated, admitted having had an abortion the week before. She told him the news, became upset and tried to run out of the house naked. When he told her he called the cops, she became even more upset, he said. She was allowed to sleep it off before going home.

A WILD STORY — A Reedy Branch Road man asked his neighbor to walk around outside with him as he carried a gun, looking for a man he said tried to steal his truck. Deputies arrived and saw the man was inebriated, and he told them the intruder was an “ugly lightskinned” man and he had seen “the whites if his eyes in the dark.” The man refused offers to take him for treatment. Deputies took his gun, which was actually a friend’s, for safekeeping until he was in a safer frame of mind. PRANK CALLS? — A local funeral home employee, apparently frustrated, called police late one recent evening to report the home had been swamped with “an exhorbitant amount of calls” from a person who “had no business with them.”w

PISCES (Feb. 20– March 20) — Find a quiet corner and get your work done without entering into a stressful dispute. Your attention to detail will ensure that you complete your tasks successfully. ARIES (March 21– April 19) — Your honest, open manner and true concern for others make you a trusted confidante. Do something special for someone who has been there for you in good times and bad. TAURUS (April 20– May 20) — Consider the motives of someone who wants you to loan out or invest your hard- earned cash. A foolhardy joint financial venture will cause serious setbacks if you go into debt. GEMINI (May 21–June 20) — You'll have to work hard to get things going. Dwelling on emotional issues will lead to depression. Take a mental health day, go out for a walk or do something you enjoy. CANCER (June 21– July 22) — Don't get drawn into the rumor mill, and avoid repeating negative or uncomplimentary comments. Gossip will not help you make gains, but it will put you in an awkward position. LEO (July 23–Aug. 22) — Step into the limelight with confidence. Your suggestions will have a powerful impact on those around you, and you will be able to gain valuable support for your plans.
