Blushing Bride Award, After Award, After Award... SET along the charming banks of the picturesque Currumbin creek, Waterside Events at Currumbin RSL is a bride’s dream location for both ceremony and reception. The Club offers a variety of spaces with separate bars with private balconies and terraces and caters for large scale weddings, intimate affairs and everything in between. The recent inclusion of a sandstone and paved deck area along the water’s edge has added a welcome feature to upcoming bridal parties and offers a serene location for nuptials along with creating the perfect backdrop for photographs. While many people know Currumbin RSL has won many varied awards over the years, including best Club, best dining and best RSL, many don’t know that its functions department, Waterside Events has also been awarded many accolades. The past two years have been big. Firstly Waterside

Events was awarded third Best Club Reception Venue in Australia through the Australian Bridal Industry Academy (ABIA) and as a finalist in Queensland in the same category. In 2015 they were finalists for best Function Coordinator and missed out on the top spot of Best Club Reception Venue by a mere 0.59%... The ABIA’s are a much sought-after award as they are determined by the votes of past brides. Over 30,000 brides vote on wedding suppliers based on the quality of product, quality of service, value for money and the attitude of the staff. To be awarded 3rd best in the nation has been a great honour for Event Manager Caroline Tas and her team and reflects the Club’s glowing reputation for providing high quality events and functions. The events team are all sticklers for detail, have a passion for creating memorable events and work closely with all brides and grooms. Caroline and her assistant Natalie have been working together for nine years and

they are both creative people who like to think out of the box and keep themselves updated with the latest industry trends. The event rooms were also awarded Best Redevelopment under $1M at the 2014 Club’s Queensland awards and the renovation speaks for itself. Waterside Events offers uninterrupted waterfront views, award winning service and product, can cater offsite with their catering arm Foodoo and offer a variety of spaces for your perfect day. Waterside is currently offering TABLE STYLINGS TO THE VALUE OF $500 for receptions held before December 31, 2016. Justine helps build M’bah youth park. Local MP Justine Elliot recently inspected the Murwillumbah Knox Park playground upgrade with Tweed Shire Mayor Gary Bagnall. “I’m proud as the Local MP to have promised, committed and delivered funding towards this upgrade. The entire project is a major makeover for Knox Park. Justine said: “The upgrade looks fantastic with facilities for a range of age groups including an exciting adventure playground. “Once the project is fully completed, including the plaza-style skate park,

then this will be a high-quality and exciting hub for young people in our area,” Justine said The adventure playground will be open to the public in late September. The upgrade also includes a youth precinct with a skate park and multi-purpose hard-surface play area for sporting activities. The youth precinct will be completed by late 2015. In May 2013 Justine announced $500,000 in federal funding to Tweed Shire Council for the Knox Park upgrade. The Tweed Shire Council also contributed $500,000 and the Mur-

willumbah Lions donated $150,000 to the Youth Precinct and $100,000 to the adventure playground. Federal funding was from the previous Federal Labor Government’s Regional Development Australia Fund. The construction of the project has supported local jobs and there will be lasting benefits for our community with this outstanding piece of infrastructure. This funding is part of the more than $2 billion that Justine Elliot has delivered for local roads, schools, health and community resources.
