CHAPTER ONE

THESPEECHES

Speeches are well known for being the part of the wedding that most peo hort as p Lon hav to play

R
e!

A good way to start the speeches is by thanking your guests for coming, as everyone likes to feel appreciated.

A bit of background about you as a couple and how you got together is okay, however, it needs to be a balance between enough information, but not too much that your guests are nodding off.

Long, boring speeches can be the death of your wedding day flow.

Remember, what is the bare minimum that gets the point across?

Try injecting some humour to break up the speech, or if this is just not you then instead think about doing something to break up the speech, like giving flowers to the mother-in-laws

What's always nice is mentioning some of the guests by name if they've played any significant part in bringing you together, or helping with the wedding itself.

CHAPTER TWO

LOWSUPPLIES

The reception and the delicious food and drinks served there are anticipated by most guests They eagerly await the opportunity to savour a well-prepared meal, enjoy celebratory toasts, and indulge in wedding cake and desserts

It does not have to be extravagant or lavish, however, guests do expect

Your guests don like royalty, how to feel satisfied.

The time that you have your wedding ceremony will dictate the meals that you’ll need to supply. A later ceremony means that you might only need to provide a wedding breakfast.

Alongside food, y to stay hydrated breakfast, you m facilities, whethe or a cash one

Worth thinking about is the number of serving staff behind the bar, as no one wants to wait 20 minutes to get their next drink.

What is the weather forecast? If it’s a hot day ensure there's access to enough water, as the last thing you want is people passing out from dehydration That’s not a good look for the photos

If it’s a freezing cold day, think about offering hot drinks also Either provided by you, or available to purchase.

Your food and drink requirements can be discussed with your caterers and they'll keep you on the right track.

CHAPTER THREE

POORENTERTAINMNT

A wedding day is usually a long day for everyone. What’s going to make the day feel longer is if there are big gaps in the day where nothing is happening.

You don’t want your guests being pushed from one thing straight into another as you want them to feel relaxed, however, you also don’t want them hanging about with nothing to do and not knowing what’s happening next either.

Entertainment comes in many different forms and is expected to last through to the end of the evening It helps the day to flow nicely for everyone.

Whilst your photos are being taken you may provide nibbles & drinks, and even though people are chatting you might want to add something extra Examples are lawn games, bouncy castle, musicians, or something that is more you.

You might feel nibbles and chatting is enough, this also depends on how long your wedding photos are going to take.

The longer they take, the more entertainment may be needed.

Your evening entertainment is a major indicator for what is classed as a successful wedding.

NO PRESSURE!

Also, how are you going to keep the kids entertained and out of mischief?

Yes, their parents are ultimately responsible for stopping them getting bored, however, they would really appreciate help with that, as it means they can enjoy your wedding too and not spend their entire time chasing around after a bored toddler.

CHAPTER FOUR

COMFORT

You and your guests want to feel relaxed during your wedding celebrations and you need to ensure that people's needs are met

This is something that is usually dealt with by your venue, however, if you are having a marquee wedding then you'll need to give the following some thought.

Comfortable Seating

If space permits, think about having additional seating. Comfy sofas & chairs, stylish benched, or chic lounge areas.

Temperature

Wedding guests hate being too hot, or too cold.

If the sun is shining keep your guests cool by having shade havens , umbrellas or canopies for everyone to take a break from the sun.

Conversely, if it’s a freezing cold day think about ways to keep your guests warm. Like having fire pits, blankies, or additional heaters

Facilities

Again, this is more for a marquee, or outdoor wedding as venues tend to have enough toilets to service the capacity that the venue holds.

No one wants to be queueing to use the bathroom, speak with your hire companies about the number of facilities they recommend for the number of guests that you have attending

CHAPTER FIVE

FEELINGIGNORED

Most people will thank their guests for attending as part of the speeches, however, a nice touch would be to speak to them more closely afterwards

Now, if you ’ re having a big wedding it’s not expected for you to say hello to every one of your guests individually, however, courtesy dictates that you at least attempt to speak with them at some point during your day

Whilst it’s understandable that you get caught up in the buzz of being newlyweds and having a great time, people have travelled to join you on your wedding day, some a great distance, so a nice gesture would be to thank them for attending, even if it’s brief You don’t want your guests feeling ignored.
