Q&A How did you meet? Her: The advertising agency I worked at organized a big party to celebrate its 10year anniversary. I was leaving the next day for my long-awaited vacation in Italy. I was really not in a mood for another worksocial event… but my coworker Christine insisted we go. She is very convincing and a couple of “but I don’t want to go” later we were in the hotel where the party was held, fighting our way to the bar in the overcrowded room. When we finally got to the bar and as I was voicing my frustration to Christine, I heard this person I didn’t know say ” you are excited to be here aren’t you?” He seemed pretty charming so we started

to talk and strangely enough, the night passed by in a blur. Him: My best friend had invited me to a party that his company was throwing in Soho. I arrived there on time as usual; my friend was late as usual. Since I was on my own, I headed straight for the bar to order a drink to keep me company. As clichéd as it may sound, as I was waiting at the bar, I saw this beautiful woman in the lobby. She looked pretty upset which for some reason made her even more attractive. It was my lucky night since she was headed right toward me.

What were your first impressions of each other? Her: I immediately noticed his smile, it’s an intriguing smile. Him: I found Audrey very attractive the minute I saw her but I really got into her because of her simplicity, her genuine personality and her enthusiasm to talk about each and every topic that came up.

Where was your first date after you first met? Him: I sent her a text about one week after she came back from her vacation asking for a date. I wanted to text her earlier but resisted so I didn’t come on too strong. For our first date, we went to Clover Club in Brooklyn nearby where I was living at the time. I was a bit nervous since we had only met once and was not sure about what to expect but when we started talking it was as if no time had passed. Her: We met up at Justin’s favorite bar

close to his home in Brooklyn. We chatted about my trip in Italy and a bunch of other topics. I really had a good time. I don’t remember which writer said: “because it was him, because it was me” but I feel that is what best describes our first moments together.

How did he propose? Her: He proposed at a concert in Williamsburg where our favorite local band was playing. He was holding me in his arms and at the end of one of the last songs he whispered The Question in my ear. I wasn’t expecting it and toyed with him a while before I said yes. He then said: “I think this little thing would look beautiful on your finger, why don’t we try it”. I was so surprised because he had chosen a beautiful ring from my favorite designer. I had no

idea how he knew about her but I’m glad he went to the trouble of finding out! Him: I did not want her to suspect anything, so I decided to pop the question during a concert. I was waiting nervously for her favorite song, but wasn’t sure if they were going to play it. Thankfully it came on toward the end of the concert and she said yes!

I’m going to take it easy and just enjoy being married! What are the highlights of when you were dating? Both: our first vacation together in Buenos Aires really cemented our relationship. Travelling together for the first time, sharing each moment of every single day, which was trying at times and exhilarating other times.

What is the one thing you’ll change when you get married? Her: I’m going to take it easy in my day-to-day and just enjoy being married! Him: I may have to change something but right now I have no idea.

Audrey, what is the one thing you like the most about him?

What’s the plan for the honeymoon?

His calm and cool attitude. He seems always in control even in stressful situations and he usually always knows what to say to me to make me smile.

Her: We want to explore the Greek islands and the coast of Croatia in September. We won’t do too much preparation or anything; we’ll just book the first hotel and then take it from there. We both love photography and we are very excited about the scenic seascapes and landscapes we are going to discover. 2 weeks away from it all…

Justin, what is the one thing you like the most about her? I am pretty introverted and Audrey is just the opposite, talkative (in a good way), lively and full of ideas.

Him: Audrey and I like travelling. We love Europe but we have never been to Greece or the Balkans yet. The plan is no plan: we will land in Athens and then improvise. I just have to convince her to take 3 weeks instead of 2!

Both: We’ll keep on having the same social life: concerts, exhibitions, dinners with friends and adventurous vacations. We also want to keep some time for our own passions: photography for me and music for Justin.

Both: We need to find a place to live since we are currently living 1 hour away from each other. That’s going to be a big project but should be fun to hunt for a place together.

The Top 5 New York

Here are some restaurant recommendations and ideas about what to do in the New York area if you have a few days before or after the wedding. You will find below a selection of our favorite spots to take pictures.

DESTINATION 1. Promenade on the Brooklyn Heights Waterfront

The Brooklyn Heights Promenade will take your breath away. Made famous by cameo appearances in movies like Annie Hall and Moonstruck, it is one of the most romantic spots in New York City. One-third of a mile long, it offers a vista of the Statue of Liberty, the Manhattan skyline and the majestic Brooklyn Bridge. Lined with flower beds, trees, benches and playgrounds, the promenade is a favorite destination for tourists, joggers, strollers, families and lovers. www.nyharborparks.org

2. Walking in DUMBO

DUMBO is the acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. DUMBO is located between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, a century ago, it was primarily a manufacturing district, housing warehouses and factories, with deindustrialization DUMBO became the residence of artists looking for large and inexpensive loft space.

3. Crossing the Brooklyn Bridge

Oldest suspension bridge in the United States and longest at the time it was completed in 1883, it connects Manhattan to Brooklyn by spanning the East River. The walk is worthwhile and offers beautiful views of New York (1,600 feet and a 25-minute walk).

4. Promenade on the High Line – Meat Packing District, Manhattan

A 1.45-mile walk, New York City turned this former elevated New York Central Railroad spur called the West Side Line into a beautiful linear park planted as an aerial greenway. It runs along the lower west side of Manhattan and offers beautiful views of the city and the river.

5. Promenade on Hudson River Greenway

The Hudson River Greenway is the longest greenway in Manhattan. It offers spectacular views of New Jersey and beautiful sunsets.
