Welcome to the spring Modern Design sale, the first of 2020 and it is hard to believe we have been conducting the sale for over 20 years now. They have certainly changed over the years and continue to develop so let’s see what this year has in store. A few private collections are included, one of which spans the early career of the Aldermaston potter Alan Caiger-Smith who sadly passed away just a few weeks ago, the pair of Oriental doves made by him are probably unique. Another ceramics collection from a house in Norwich includes the work of Bernard & David Leach, Eric James Mellon and Joanna Constantinidis. Studio glass in iridescent colours are alongside well known factory makers from Britain, Scandinavia and Italy. Other homes in Norwich have provided some great artworks, locals including Colin Self, Tessa Newcomb, Chedgey, Bruer Tidman, John Kiki and others. Signed prints include Roy Lichtenstein, L.S Lowry and Reg Butler and we finish on a collection of art related books for your library. So come along to view or bid in person and if not the sale is online at www.the-saleroom.com James Bassam Senior Valuer
