WELCOME!

First of all, thank you for taking the time to open Issue #03 of the TwittNick Magazine. I want to acknowledge that this is the 7th magazine produced since September 2013. It has been a wild ride with a lot going and I want to thank you all for the tremendous support. I know that once I have your support, this project will never fail. You all are wonderful people.

!

In this issue there has been some minor changes to what is being produced. The main focus on this magazine will result in stories from artistic developed individuals, self editorials, poetries, community tides, crime prevention and much more. I would like to encourage all who want to take part to take up the offer. This magazine is controlled all of us. Without content, there is no product and we wouldn't be reading this right now. Again, I encourage you.

!

It’s time to get into the magazine now, are you ready?

TwittNick is known as 22 year-old, Nicholas Maharaj from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. TwittNick was created to advocate for safer communities by using Crime Stoppers. Together as a community, we will stand up to prevent and solve crimes by using social media websites.

People get the wrong impression of me sometimes. I’m a community advocate using social media sites to help get the message across and educate the general public about crime prevention. I believe that every post I make, every tweet I cast, someone out there is reading and has information about a crime about to take place. All it takes is courage to send a tip into Crime Stoppers. Crime Stoppers is a community controlled program. This program allows cops to get to the crimes faster. Your tips makes it easier to get the bad guys off our streets. The best part is that it’s anonymous.

TwittNick developed a magazine project that allows all talented individuals to express themselves. “I designed this magazine to reach out to individuals who have talent and want to embrace them. When you go to any store and find a magazine, you will see famous celebrities. So why not create my own public magazine that will allow any and everyone to join.

Waking up with no emotions, no smile, no nothing. You don't know why but you don't feel you’re really here and not who you use to be. You're lost and you don't know yourself but you do recognize the feeling. Why can't it just go away? It feels like your in a box full of pain, no thought of what to do, just depressed. You just want to escape everything because it’s getting harder to move forward. The feeling to give up is easier you live in a world where you don't know why you belong here.

Not realizing you have such a need in this world, why give up and take your life? Your ache and pains will go away but you shouldn't let them overtake your mind. There are people out there are ruling for you to overcome the reason for giving up. Its hard to move forward but its easier to tell yourself you are here for a reason and that you are strong enough to handle it. Don't give up. Suicide is not an option. You are in this world for a purpose and you need to seek that reason. I guarantee that there is someone out there is waiting just like you. All it takes is patience, effort, dedication and most of all love. Never give up.

- Shaniqua Maxwell

I want to take this time to thank each and every one of you who took the time to tweet a vote for me to win a 2014 Shorty Award. This is the second time that we’ve campaigned to win an Activism award and unfortunately we did not make it to the finals this year.

!

For those who voted for the first time and was told to because of word of message, thank you. I advocate for safer communities by using social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube etc. I strongly believe that all Crime Stoppers programs across the world deserve to be advocated to the top of the notch. Why? To educate the general public about sending anonymous tips (information) about any crime. The ultimate goal is to get the message to the right authorities before any criminal act takes place. Preventing crimes before happening can result in saved lives and not a tragic ending for friends, families and effected communities.

!

I choose to do this because I believe that social media can help save lives. Today, we all are glued to our smartphones. Either checking texts, Vines,Youtube, Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. Meanwhile, using the tool and the power of the internet, it’s completely easier to advocate for Crime Stoppers today. But what we need to realize is the message being produced. Take it in and never forget it. It just might save yours, a friend, or my life.

!

Comparing 2013 to 2014 it was an amazing experience that I couldn’t have done without your support. It goes to show how many of you actually support my movement and that it motivates me to keep going further. We all know that we cannot stop crime completely but we can do our best to educate the importance of preventing and solving crime. I cannot stress enough how much your support keeps me going. Again, Thank you.

!

I look forward to continuing my advocating for Crime Stoppers on social media and to remain educated in serving the general public with my creative content. My name is Nicholas Maharaj, and I am the TwittNick.

TWITTNIŠK magazine EYON JAMAL DRAKE

Aspiring and unsigned dancehall artist Eyon Jamal Drake was born in Toronto, Ontario. He started out writing and editing music at the age of 15. He had spent hours in a basement with the person who introduced him to the music scene and is well known today, "DJ Hopewest". As music ran in the family, it slowly transitioned from being a hobby, to becoming a passion. "Every time I was in class, or at my cousins house, I'd open a book, pick up a pen and just start writing. Even on the computer, I'd just open up notepad, turn on a beat I liked, and the lyrics would just come to me." Within 1 year, he had written and released his first mixtape, "Hypnotized" which had blown up all over social media websites. With his increasing fan base, he went on to releasing 4 more Mixtapes and is now known worldwide in places such as the UK, United States, Guyana, and many more areas globally. He has also collaborated with many local artists in Toronto and around the world. "I'm really thankful for all the people that support me and it motivates me to keep making new songs. Even my friends and family have supported my music and it's much appreciated." As the years went by, this artist has improved vocally, and even started producing his own instrumentals. Now, he is currently in progress of making new songs and possibly a new mixtape as well. Be on the lookout for him in 2014!

do you get it?
 i don’t think so.

It's amazing to think about the world we live in Instead of fighting our battles, we decide to give in Somewhere out there is a man dying Somewhere out there, there's a hungry child crying And somewhere amongst us there's a sick baby Take a deep look and you'll find a man abusing his lady Somewhere among us there's a girl being forced to marry Somewhere among us, there's a boy who's being reminded of the burdens he has to carry And just like me, a lot of us are sitting sheltered Something unremembered How did we come around to being so selfish Cursing the life that we should cherish While we have it all given to us, some people are fighting death to live Call it greed but we decide to keep it all to ourselves when we should give We're capable of providing a smile to change one's day We could build one's confident by letting them have a say But instead we decide to be self centred Cold hearted and hot tempered We were put in this world to love people and use things But now it's the other way around, increasing our sins I see them receiving pleasure from hurting others They go after the weak ones, like hunters Love is scarce, associated with games They like to watch their lovers burn down in flames The importance of money keeps increasing The significance of knowledge keeps decreasing They always find a way to force someone to not be comfortable in their skin Unfortunately, that's just the world we live in
