MARION HUBER THEATER

MARCH 12-APRIL 10 / 2022

Originally scheduled to have its run at Two River in April of 2020, The Hombres was performed as part of our fall 2020 Two River Rising online play reading series. Lortel Award-winning director Annie Tippe returned to bring this nuanced look at the complexity and intimacy of male friendship to the stage in March of 2022. Set in New Jersey (“somewhere off the NJ Transit line”), this new play by Tony Meneses (Two River’s The Women of Padilla, Guadalupe in the Guest Room) follows Julián, a gay Latino yoga teacher, as he clashes with the straight and macho Latino construction workers outside his studio. Two River co-commissioned and developed The Hombres with the NJPAC Stage Exchange, a program of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and New Jersey Theatre Alliance, and through a reading at Two River’s 2018 Crossing Borders (Cruzando Fronteras) Festival.

August Wilson’s Radio Golf was the first indoor in-person theater experience for 54% of postshow survey respondents since the beginning of the COVID -19 pandemic. 77% of survey respondents rated their feeling of safety in the theater as “excellent.”
