Friends of The Times 2017 HALL COUNTY NON-PROFIT GUIDE If you want to measure the financial strength of a community, you can do so by looking at household income, job markets, stability of the business community, disposable income and overall economic conditions. If you want to quantify that elusive “quality of life,” for which we all seem to search, you can look at traffic patterns, recreational opportunities, school systems, tax rates, leisure time options and community health. But if you want to really know the soul of a community, look at the organizations that exist for the purpose of making things better for others. In that regard, Gainesville and Hall County are overly blessed. In this first edition of Friends of The Times, we have gathered contact information for many local nonprofit organizations which serve a broad variety of different needs. We hope the information provided here will prove to be of help to anyone who needs the services of any of these institutions. The list is certainly not all inclusive, but rather a representative sampling of local nonprofits working in a wide variety of different areas with which The Times advertising department has dealt in recent years, thus the name. “Friends of The Times.” At The Times, we are continuously amazed at what a caring community we have, as those in need are helped time and again by those with the resources to do so. The generosity of local residents in providing support for these organizations, and the good being done a daily basis, is simply amazing. Within our county there are hundreds of nonprofit organizations whose missions run the gamut from charity to education, spirituality to medical care. Whether it’s providing food and shelter for a family whose home was destroyed by fire, creating a stable home environment for a child who has never known one, feeding someone who is hungry, teaching an adult to read who has never known the thrill of doing so, or helping in times of crisis or grief, there is always someone in our community who is willing and available to help. Yet as much as is done by so many, there always seems to be a need for more. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer for one of these groups, or providing a financial donation, we hope you will use the contact information provided here to do so. Please join us is offering a hearty “job well done” to the many nonprofit groups that make our community better every day, and those thousands of volunteers and paid staffers who give so freely of their time, money and hearts.

Mission Statement The Mission of PGCS is to help raise awareness and reduce the ďŹ nancial toxicity of a cancer diagnosis by providing assistance for noninsured, daily expenses for those currently in treatment for any gynecological cancer. Monies are given to provide gas for transportation to treatment, groceries, and lodging for women and their families in the Northeast Georgia area.
