SMITH NAMED SBC DEFENSIVE STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Senior libero Sierra Smith was on a rampage on the back line for the Bobcats this season, and was recognized for it Oct. 5. After averaging 6.50 digs per set in a four-set match against Little Rock to help the Bobcats bust a 26-match conference winning streak for the Trojans, Smith finished the week averaging 6.29 digs per set with 44 digs to earn the first conference honor of the season for the Bobcats. She has double-digit digs in 12 of 18 matches so far this season with a high of 31 digs at UTSA. Before her best week, Smith tallied 23 digs each in back-to-back sweeps for the Bobcats against Georgia State and Appalachian State, which is an average of 7.67 digs per set.
