SETTING THE SCENE The Texas State football team looks to win its second straight home game and improve its record to 2-0 this season when the Bobcats play host to Navy in a non-conference contest that is televised by ESPNews. The game will be played on Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium and kicks off at 7:00 p.m. Texas State opened its 2014 schedule with a 65-0 victory against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Aug. 30. The 65 points were the most scored by the Bobcats since the final game of the 2012 season and it was the first shutout for the Bobcat defense since 2005. Navy enters this week’s game with a 1-1 record after winning a 31-24 decision at Temple on Sept. 6 and falling 34-17 against Ohio State on Aug. 30 in Baltimore.

BOBCATS BY THE NUMBERS 2- The 2014 season marks the second straight season that Texas State is a member of the Sun Belt Conference. It also is the first time the Bobcats are playing in the same conference during two straight years since 2010. Texas State was in the Southland Conference in 2010, an independent in 2011, the WAC in 2012 before joining the SBC in 2013.

3- The victory against ArkansasPine Bluff was Texas State’s third straight victory in season openers. The Bobcats also beat Houston, 30-12, in 2012 and Southern Miss, 22-15, in 2013.

204- Head coach Dennis Franchione enters the Navy game with 204 career victories. Franchione is one of four NCAA Division I FBS active coaches with 200 career victories.

107- Texas State begins its 107th season of playing football in 2014.

2007- This marks the first season that Texas State will open its schedule with two consecutive home games since 2007.

• Named 2014 Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team. • Made his 37th consecutive start as a cornerback. • Recorded five tackles against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. • Had a 35-yard punt return against UAPB.

Jafus Gaines, WR, Jr.

• Made the first start of his career against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. • Caught four passes for career-bests of 119 yards and two touchdowns against the Lions. • Had a career-long reception of 71 yards versus UAPB.
