A LOOK AT THE COMPETITION Houston Baptist enters the 2014 season trying to bounce off of a 5-12-2 mark from the 2013 season. To kick off last season, the Bobcats defeated Houston Baptist by a 3-2 margin in overtime. Senior forward, Natalie Hager, earned a spot on the Southland Conference Preseason All-Conference Team. The SLC announced Wednesday morning that she was placed on the second-team. Hager appeared in all 19 matches last season and started 12. She was tied for second with seven points, on two goals and three assists. The three assists led the team and she recorded one game-winning goal, which came against Utah Valley on Sept. 7. Last season, Houston Baptist recorded 15 goals at a mark of just under .80 per game. The Huskies owned a .518 shots on goal percentage. LAST TIME OUT Despite being down 2-0 at halftime, the Texas State soccer team was able to rally to win in overtime in its exhibition match against Houston Baptist. The game winner came near the end of the first regulation as Leon was going towards the endline. She was taken down by a Houston Baptist defender on the right side of the box, resulting in a penalty kick, of which, she made. 2013 REVIEW With a debut in its third conference in as many seasons, the Texas State soccer team found its way to the semifinal match of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and an 8-9-2 overall record. The 2013 Bobcats set a program record for most overtime contests in a single season with six, of which only one resulted in a victory.

Texas State finished the 2013 non-conference schedule with a 3-5-1 record, picking up home victories against Prairie View A&M and Sam Houston State while defeating Northwestern State on the road in the season opener. The Bobcats started the conference schedule on the right foot, posting a 2-0-1 record through the first three contests, including the team’s first ever Sun Belt Conference victory on the road against Troy. After the timely victory against Troy in the quarterfinal game, the Bobcats were matched up against a Western Kentucky squad who previously defeated them in the final moments of a double-overtime contest earlier in the season. With 88 minutes of scoreless action, the Lady Toppers capitalized in the 89th minute to defeat Texas State, 1-0. Tori Hale, who was in her second season with the Bobcats in 2013, has made an impact as well on the all-time charts. With a team-leading nine assists to end the season, Hale tied Jessica Armendariz for the most assists in a single-season at Texas State. Armendariz set that mark back in 2000 after the program’s second season. With 15 career assists, Hale is in a tie for second, just two assists shy of Britney Curry’s record of 17 set from 2007-10. Hale finished the season named Second-Team All-Conference along with teammate Lynsey Curry. Curry finished the season with a team-high seven goals, three of which occurred during conference play. She also led the team with 79 total shots and 15 total points. Senior Gabbi Cottee was second on the points list with 14 (5 G, 4 A). Brown also made her mark on the history books at Texas State, becoming the first student-athlete at Texas State to be named to the Sun Belt Leadership Team. The award is given to a letter-winning student-athlete, based on leadership, sportsmanship,
