A LOOK AT THE COMPETITION • On Saturday afternoon, Georgia State suffered its first setback in the conference season, falling to UALR at home by a score of 75-55. • The Panthers began the conference slate with an 80-72 victory over UL Monroe, also at home, for their sixth overall victory of the year. Georgia State will have started the conference schedule at home for its first three contests. • Makeba Ponder leads the Georgia State offense, scoring 12.6 point per game. She is closely followed by Kayla Nolan with 12.1 PPG, Brittany Logan with 11.4 PPG, and Alisha Andrews with 10.0 PPG. Andrews and Ashley Watson lead the team with 3.6 assists. • In addition to her 11.4 points per game, Logan leads the squad with just shy of 10 rebounds per game. Logan was named to the All-SBC Preseason Second-Team. Andrews was a third-team pick to round out the Georgia State nominations. • In the preseason poll, Georgia State was picked to finish just behind the Bobcats in fourth place. Last season, the Panthers finished in a tie for fifth place in the conference. Kendra Long, a senior guard that has graduated, was the lone player named to an all-conference team for Georgia State.

ABOUT THE BOBCATS • The Texas State Bobcats enter the 2014-15 season with eight returners and four newcomers. • Last season, the Bobcats earned an invitation to the WBI Tournament which marked the first postseason appearance for Texas State since the 2008 season. • Last year’s Bobcats finished with a 16-16 overall record and 12-6 conference mark. • Texas State’s conference record was good enough to put them in a tie for third place overall in the Sun Belt Conference after originally being picked ninth by the league coaches. • This preseason, juniors Erin Peoples and Ayriel Anderson were both chosen to All-SBC Preseason Teams. • Peoples, a 6-0 guard from Little Rock, Ark., was named to the First-Team while Anderson, a 5-3 guard from Irving, Texas, was named to the Third-Team. • Texas State was picked to finish third in the Sun Belt Conference by the league coaches.
