A LOOK AT THE COMPETITION • After a 3-6 start to the conference slate, the Mavericks are riding on a three-game winning streak entering Thursday’s matchup. Two of those wins were at home (Georgia State and Troy), while one was on the road at UL Lafayette. The Mavericks are 12-9 overall this season. • The Mavericks have defeated Georgia State in both contests this season while Texas State preps to play the Panthers in their second contest of the season Saturday afternoon. • Freshman Rebekah Van Dijk leads the Mavericks in both scoring and rebounding as she is averaging a 13.1 point/10.5 rebound double-double. Van Dijk is a 58.2 percent field goal shooter and has blocked a team-high 40 shots this season. • Van Dijk is one of two players in the Sun Belt to average a double-double. Ronita Garrett of Troy is the other player. • This season marks vast improvement for the Mavericks as they have now tripled their win total from the 2013-14 season. The 2013-14 Mavericks finished with a 4-25 overall record and just a 3-15 mark in conference play. Texas State defeated UT Arlington on both occasions last season. • The Mavericks are coached by Krista Gerlich who is currently in her second season with UT Arlington. Prior to her start with the Mavericks, Gerlich spent seven seasons with West Texas A&M.

ABOUT THE BOBCATS • The Texas State Bobcats enter the 2014-15 season with eight returners and four newcomers. • Last season, the Bobcats earned an invitation to the WBI Tournament which marked the first postseason appearance for Texas State since the 2008 season. • Last year’s Bobcats finished with a 16-16 overall record and 12-6 conference mark. • Texas State’s conference record was good enough to put them in a tie for third place overall in the Sun Belt Conference after originally being picked ninth by the league coaches. • This preseason, juniors Erin Peoples and Ayriel Anderson were both chosen to All-SBC Preseason Teams. • Peoples, a 6-0 guard from Little Rock, Ark., was named to the
