SCOUTING THE COMPETITION TEXAS A&M The No. 25 ranked Aggies are 34-17 heading into Wednesday’s contest. The Aggies are 6-12 against ranked opponents this season, four of which are in the Southeastern Conference. Texas A&M is on a three-game losing streak, coming off of a series loss to No. 1 Florida.

At the plate, the Aggies are hitting .283 and have 51 home runs on the season, trailing Texas State’s season home run total by four. Freshman Tori Vidales leads the Aggies with 16 home runs, 47 RBI, 43 runs, 40 walks, 105 total bases and a .484 on base percentage. Vidales has 49 hits on the season and carries a .340 batting average in 144 at bats.

Texas A&M is under the field direction of Jo Evans, who is currently in her 19th season as head coach.

Rupp struck out nine batters while allowing five fly outs and one ground out in her ninth shutout of the season. This was the first perfect game thrown by a Bobcat since Katie Garnett threw one on Feb. 16, 2008 against UMKC. She earned her first Pitcher of the Week honor this past week through the Sun Belt Conference due to her perfect game. CONSECUTIVE HONORS After going 4-0 with a 0.58 last week, Rupp earned her second consecutive SBC Pitcher of the Week honors Monday afternoon. It is the fifth time this season that a Bobcat has earned the award and Rupp is the second Bobcat to have earned an SBC honor twice this season. Kendall Wiley did it earlier in the year. FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR FINALIST Freshman shortstop Ariel Ortiz was named a Top 25 Finalist for the NFCA National Freshman of the Year award Thursday afternoon. Ortiz is second on the Bobcat squad in batting average at .370 and first in doubles with 16. She is one of three Bobcats to have

PERFECTION! Freshman pitcher Randi Rupp continued to make her mark in the Bobcat history books this past Wednesday after throwing the first perfect game of her career.

A&M has played a few common opponents of the Bobcats including Stephen F. Austin, UTSA and Lamar.

In the circle, the A&M pitching staff as a 3.43 ERA. The staff has given up 39 home runs this season. Senior Rachel Fox has seen the most action on the mound tossing 185 innings. Fox leads the staff with 150 strikeouts and has surrendered 16 home runs this season.
