San Marcos Campus •  •

Texas State's first building was the red-roofed, castle-like landmark called Old Main, completed in 1903. Today, the San Marcos campus consists of 457-acres whose hilly grounds are home to 218 buildings. Some, like Old Main, are as old as the university itself. Others, such as the new Undergraduate Academic Center, opened in 2012, with more new buildings scheduled for completion soon.

Round Rock Campus •

Texas State University opened its 101-acre campus in Round Rock, Texas, in 2005. Round Rock is located at the northern end of the Austin-Round RockSan Marcos MSA, 24 miles from downtown Austin.

Texas State currently offers eight undergraduate and eleven master’s degree programs on our Round Rock Campus.

Texas State’s nursing program (B.S.N.) began in Fall 2010 with upper-level work on the Round Rock Campus. The first nursing graduating class had a 100 percent passing rate on its credentialing exam. A Master of Science in Nursing program (Family Nurse Practitioner major) will begin in Fall 2013.

We now compete for State matching funds for gifts that support graduate programs and research. To date, we have submitted over $6,094,417 in gift funds eligible for a State match of $3,796,944.

When the 83rd Legislature made a supplemental TRIP appropriation, we received $1,015,475 in matching funds. We will also receive $624,259 in matching funds in the current fiscal year. So, we are already owed $2,157,210 in funds that should be provided in the next biennium.

STAR Park and the Office of Commercialization and Industry Relations (OCIR)

The Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Park, our new 38-acre site dedicated to Texas State’s research and commercialization efforts, serves as a technology accelerator for start-up and early-stage businesses. After opening in November, 2012, the first building, STAR One, is fully operational housing four clients, with planning already underway for expansion.

The Incubator Program within the OCIR located at STAR One, is designed to foster the development of new commercial ventures related to Texas State technologies in applied research. This building houses 'spinoffs' from research conducted and intellectual property generated by university faculty, and 'spin-ins' from outside companies that want to come in and work strategically with university faculty.
