PROJECT BRIEF Located in the new Innovation Corridor in Tempe, Arizona, this firestation serves the community around it. It acts as a community center for the area as well as a home for the firefighters. This building is designed around certain moments where the firefighters and public can interact. These areas allow the community to come here and feel welcome, but let the firefighters have their privacy as well.
The facade of the building is two different copper panel systems. On the apparatus bay side, it is an okatech building strategy. This works perfectly with the apparatus bay and creating a beacon for the community to come and interact. The residential side of the firestation, is a copper panel system, the idea is that it can wather through time and the public can see the transition through the 50 years of its life.

PROJECT BRIEF This project was for a competition in Queens, New York. We investigated mixed-use residential tower, incorporating a school, day care, fitness center, and the reisdential tower. In this project we used clt for the structure and had to know the intrincincies of using timber in a high rise building.
The projects overall concept focuses on the vertical interaction between the multiple floors of the residential tower. Each floor has its own community garden to create its own identity to the New York skyline. The first 4 floors focus on the interactions and movement of the different programs in the site.

PERSPECTIVE
PROJECT BRIEF The purpose of this studio was to look at the historic warehouse district in downtown Phoenix. Phoenix Union Station is a Phoenix landmark and how the city was able to grow to what it is today. The project keeps the historic structure in tact, but then add program above the structure. The highlight of this project is the envelope. From a performance point of view is very effective.
The copper envelope protects the building from weathering, keeps the building cool, and embraces the historic usage of copper in not only the warehouse district, but to Arizona as a state. The program is split in to 3 categories; private, semi-public, and private. The old structure is open space to host events, parties, etc.
