The Hype Train video was a very loosely organized project at first. We spent about two years filming in and around San Diego. When I originally started editing up the footage for the video 75% of the tricks were filmed at Washington St. We all already had it in our heads that we were going on a month long trip before the video deadline. Deadline’s didn’t really exist, and not everyone got to come. The Northwest offers a lot of amazing concrete, ahh yes loads of concrete. There really was no schedule or set places to be. That was the key ingredient. Pure freestyle agenda stay wherever we are hyped and leave wherever was a bust. The crew was Chris Russell, Ricky Holderby, Chris Gregson, Greg Zamarripa, Little Chris, Frank Shaw, Skreech, Possum, Slurk, and myself. Destinations were Orcas Island - Washington and White Fish - Montana, and everything in-between.

Chris Gregson - Klamath Falls, Oregon. 4

Sacramento - We didn’t come for a long time, it was defiantly a good time. Just enough time for Ricky to plant his Frontside Bean on this half full pipe?

Gus’s Bowl - It’s manatory that you stop here if you’re travelling north. Goodtimes.

Camped wherever we could, hopefully close to something we could skate. 7

When we made it to the Seattle Bowl, Chris Russell was not scared to be the first to jump in and start skating. Blasting this Frontside Air like the crazy MAN he is within minutes.

“Pure freestyle “

agenda stay wherever we are hyped. Marginal Way is constantly in production, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. The park gets better ever year. The crew in Seattle is really motivated to make things happen at Marginal, regardless of the weather. Night sessions go down regularly. Right here Little Chris is doing a Frontside Lein

After we made it through the Portland Vortex, we made our way straight to the Seattle portal. Ended up wondering into a few forest then landed on a island that they call Orcas Island. Wow, that magical place...

After we blasted to outer-space in Orcas Island, we landed on the I-5 South again. Then east to Idaho and Montana. Whitefish, Montana being the main destination at this point. After some long dirt roads, lots of tweest and getting lost a few times we made it. Van legs were in full effect. After a few runs we decided to visit the local brewery that is hooking is up with beer The Great Northwest brewery treat us way to good. So good we had to stay in Whitefish for a few more days then expected. Free beer and gourmet sandwiches all day. After all, we were already a few weeks into the trip. We all had a lot of injuries. It was almost like a vacation on a vacation. After Whitefish we headed to Ketchum, Idaho. Picked up a hitchhiker that was hunting in the middle of the forrest. Dropped him off in another part of the forest. All he had a gun and some water - fully camped with makeup and all. We hit Hailey, Idaho next. Then it was off to SLC, Utah. We spent the rest of our time in Salt Lake City. Then departed south back to San Diego. Great memories were made and the video was defiantly done. Thanks to everyone to let us camp in your yard and drink your beers. Special thanks to Greg Zamarripa for making it all happen. Wouldn’t of been possible without you.

So you’re from Florida, what got you into skating? My step Dad picking me up from Elementary school, In a pick-up truck with a campershell.. I rode in the back camper shell and there was a 80’s Banana board that my step dad found at his brothers house. It was on since. You recently moved to SD, How’s the change compared to FL? Motivated and aged from southgern roots, small rednack town to big city, the opportunities! The places! Spots are endless One quote to live by? Stay on, Charge shit!

Shaun Ross

The energy I felt after the first skate trip with Shaun Ross is indescribable. Spending all the time in the back of the van, pounding beers no matter what time it was. First spot, he’s the first one out. Ready to mash imminently. He’ll be the first one to slam, first one to try it too. Get back up and be so stoked. Like he enjoyed the slam he just took. He smiles even bigger the second slam. After some blood is spilled, the real action starts. Juicing so hard. After Shaun skates, most likely he will find the local and start broing down, next thing is next and we’re in someones empty backyard pool. It’s beautiful the way the world works like that sometimes. Shaun Ross isn’t here to look cool, or impress anyone. He is truly a skate rat, down to the bone. Nobody else is like him, or ever will be. MASH!

Did you start drawing or skating first? What inspired you to do both? I started Skating first and grew up with brothers that were down with art so I carried it along with me as I grew up. Have you ever made art for a skate company? So far I’ve incorporated a couple designs for Vagrant Skates. But that was pretty much the only first skate company I’ve done logos for. Typical Culture was the first for zines! A lot of people on Instagram always email asking for designs for all sorts of things. I never really do accept the request because I never have the time to pull through with it. Other than that I just stick with ARKAID and try to get some shirts out there. Have you tried tattooing? I’ve never actually got the chance to start tattooing. I just never had the thought of starting to tattoo. But maybe sometime in the future I’ll consider doing it as a hobby. I’ll let you guys know if I do . I’m geting stoked seeing tattoo art so I kinda got a few ideas from it.

Where are you from originally and where do you resign now? I’m originally from Lake Forrest, but I grew up in the Philippines for 5 years as a youngster. As of right now I’m living in shitty Orange County where there’s nothing to do. That’s what got me into skateboarding pretty much because of the Lake Forrest Skatepark. Any shout out or final words? Want to give a shout out for any fans reading this, a big thanks to Typical Culture for featuring me in this and getting my name out there. Lastly like to give a shout out to Helm Street crew, who I’ve been teaming up with currently. My family/friends who have been down with ARKAID! Thanks again for featuring ARKAID in this zine. 28

Trevor is on a productive mission, constantly down to skate at all times of the day, A good example is this spread of photos all taken in one day, all tricks that haven’t been done before. Let the skating talk. Photos: Chris McDonald

ne Taylor Words: Tyro BK, Fs Boardslide. Ph: Mike Abarta

We have been working on this video pretty much sense we started Lurkville so a little over 2 years now. We have had a lot of injuries filming this video here is a quick break down. 6 broken wrist, broken ribs, severed foot ligament, multiple ankles rolled and most of that is just from BK. The Lurkville team was hand picked many years ago before the Lurkers even knew what was to come!!! They are all born Lurkers!!!! The video will have full parts from Brendan Keaveny, Dolan Stearns, Mike Abarta, David Cobb and Dylan Messer along with a flow section and friend section. This video will be short and sweet. The goal of this video is to make you to not be able to even finish watching it because it makes you want to skate so bad!!! We left out all the boring stuff like switch tres everywhere and krooked grind nollie flips at zero miles a hour. 37

This video doesn’t have China or Spain footy. This is a video for your everyday skater who can’t afford to fly across the world to skate.

The Lurkville team was hand picked many years ago before the Lurkers even knew Hopefully it stokes you out, and makes you want to just skate what ever is in front of you. This is 100% raw skateboarding. Help us PUT SKATEBOARDING BACK INTO SKATEBOARDING! Become a LURKER at www.lurkville.com Lurker Club coming soon!
