The design concept of Capsule by Container Hotel is inspired by shipping container, for its modularity, flexibility and adaptability. It is also closely binds with the theme of travelling and our belief that container concept can be a potential solution to a sustainable future. The spatial planning concept is influenced by Japanese style “Kyosho Jutaku�, which translates to living large on a tiny footprint. By maximizing the use of each space, we managed to fit
in 79 capsules in a tight lot of 3300sqft and other essential facilities for the hotel. Spatial transparency is emphasized to create continuity in a compact space. The vibrant color scheme selected paired with an industrial approach strikes a balance of cheerful yet cozy environment for relaxation in contrast to the formal and stringent greetings from the airport.

GREENHOUSE BY MUIR JALAN AMPANG, KUALA LUMPUR [2014]
Greenhouse by Muir is a home to 4 different restaurants, a cafe and a fully equipped bakery kitchen - each has its own story and unique ambience. Greenhouse by Muir has a courtyard which acts as a car park on weekdays and a place for farmers market on weekends. Kuroshio market is a Japanese Food Market that is inspired by the Japanese Fish Market concept. The theme of the restaurant is expressed through the usage of raw jute rope and fishing net to depict the daily life of fishermen in fishing villages.
The design of BRYCG is inspired by the culture of New Orleans where an under-bridge scene is created to capture the New Orleans dining ambiance by placing a sequence of steel arches in the dining area. The Deck is a roof top lounge and bar extended from the BRYCG. This alfresco dining area provides an open view to the surrounding of the site. The materiality of the project expressed an honest character where raw bricks, concrete, recycled timber and exposed steel are used. The exhaust ducting on the facade was designed to enhance the expression of exposed architecture.

FARMLODGE BALIK PULAU, PENANG [2014]
A Hakka Cultural Centre and Retreat that aims to promote Hakka Culture in international level. It is designed to be sustainable, touch the land lightly and blended to the natural surrounding, which is a deep forest.
Farmlodge is part of the masterplan and is designed for communal activities that provides sleeping decks with an open concept. The building is mainly formed by natural materials found on site, for instance, bamboo, boulders, log and earth.

“PROTO-PARK� KOTAK KOMUNITI mILLENNIUM PARK SS13, SUBANG, SELANGOR [2017]
KOTAK KOMUNITI serves as a community centre of SS13 Subang where the locals can share ideas and vision of their ideal neighbourhood and community park. It acts as a first step to activate the underutilized Millennium Park. The structure was designed to be temporary and will be taken down in due time. It serves as an experiment to see if properly designed space actually works for this park and to observe how locals respond to it. The Kotak is located right at the entrance of the park to attract curious locals to stopby and experience the space. It is divided into 2 levels. The lower level: THE IDEA BOX where
the locals can contribute ideas, community program schedules or organise street classroom for kids on the community boards and relax on the playful pallet benches. The upper level: THE PLAYSCAPE is connected by pallet stairs from the lower level. It is a playful space to draw people into the park to have community recreational activities. Being in an industrial zone, the materials used are locally sourced industrial materials, for instance, wooden pallets, scaffoldings, tyres and gunny sacks.It is hoped that the community will be brought closer together by building this place together.

“PROTO-PARK” PLAYSCAPE mILLENNIUM PARK SS13 SUBANG, SELANGOR [2017]
The Playscape is a continuation of the Proto-Park proposal and is being built in conjunction of the Park Launch. The upper modules of Kotak Komuniti is designed to create a Play and Learn space for the community in the park asides from jungle gym. After the co-creation sessions with the community in Kotak Komuniti, the ideas gathered are : a gazebo which functions as sheltered area for relaxing and picnic, a playground with climbing structure, swing etc for kids. The materials used are easily available recycled pallets, pvc pipes and free tyres in respond to the industrial context and budget available.
The proposed playscape is an interactive art installation with pallet steps/seats, 2 modules of playcells and a swing, connected by a series of colorful whispering pipes. The installation is designed to engage not only the kids but also between the adult and the kids. The playcells function as hiding nook as well as “classroom” with alphabetic cards and number cards on the exterior walls.

DISASTER RELIEF | DESIGN BUILD
FLOOD RESISTANT HOME GUA MUSANG, KELANTAN [2015]
Flood disaster in Kelantan has been a yearly afair and the houses there are always affected by the disaster after all these years. This project is a collaboration between few organisations to develop a prototype for flood resistant home that leads to a community build. The house is raised 7ft on stilt to allow stormwater flow while the occupants prepare to leave the house by boat to the relief centre. The entire house is designed to be porous and light to ensure it would stand strong during heavy rain and storm.

The first floor consists of main living, bedrooms and dry kitchen while the ground floor has a wet kitchen, toilet and an extra room. Locally sourced materials are used. Mega Anchor is introduced as a footing option for its fast and easy installation in all climates and geographic locations. Site disturbance is minimal and the use of chemicals for the treatment of white ants and termites is reduced considerably.

SAFE POWER HOUSE TAWAU, SABAH [2013]
The SAFE Project aims to understand how the impacts of forest modification ramify through the web of life. The SAFE project is a long term ecological experiment which will be ongoing for decades. The project requires a permanent Field Centre in the experimental area; a mosaic of oil palm, softwood plantations and natural forest in the Kalabakan region of Sabah. The highlight of this Arkitrek Camp is to design and build a
Powerhouse using materials innovations appropriate to context. Design concepts tested on the Powerhouse will form the basis of subsequent buildings making up the SAFE Project permanent field station. The Arkitrek design build also involves developing the masterplan of SAFE Field Centre and the design concept of the laboratoy and the library.

Traditional wet market has been the microcosm of the society that plays an important role as a community hub. This minivillage of Sentul Market is created by a range of activities which includes trading of local food production and basic needs.
The new programs seeks to turn the monofunctional market into a marketplace cum community centre that caters the old and new community, providing people’s place which is lacking in Sentul.
The research aims to redevelop the existing Sentul Market into a preferred place to shop for fresh local food without compromising its originality and sense of community that can be seen in a traditonal wet market in a sustainable way.
This project envisions a contemporary marketplace that brings community together and achieving positive impact to the environment. Being a “backlane” of Sentul, where the microcosm of the society remain and rich with social cultural aspect.

Before the Sentul Market building was built, the neighbourhood street market was located at the Lorong Sentul Pasar, the alley before the shophouses UNDER THE TREES. The market was expanded to the back and sides, where the hawker association initiated to build the temporary metal structures over the years due to high demand.

The Sentul Treehouse is planned contextually, starting with the contraints which are the old market building which is the landmark of Sentul, old shophouses, Hindu temple and 2 big trees. The initial concept for the architecture approach is inspired by the railway history, character of the existing market which is ephemeral and the linearity of Jalan Sentul which shaped the building site uniquely. Dry Market + Railway Gallery The old building is given new life with the dry market and railway gallery which display the railway story of Sentul. It connects people up to first floor. Wet Market Seafood, vegetables and fruits, poultry market cells are designed to ensure hygiene and low maintenance of the market. The zoning is carefully planned where the wettest and heavy services area are places at the back of house. The Pork House is places at the outermost area to keep it private while keeping it accessible and legible without discrimination like the current situation.
Chicken Slaughtering House A unit in the market which functions from 10pm to 7am. It is also placed at the outermost zone because of its heavy load of services and smell produced if it is not placed correctly. It has to be well ventilated to keep the smell away. Street Market + Street Deck Active from morning market to late night. it activates the place at night when the morning market is not in operation and directing people to the main entrance of old market, which leads them to the night plaza. Elevation and Facade Concept The facade | old+new The linear character of the facade that follows the long linear character of jalan sentul, which is the only access road to the marketplace. The colorful facade is inspired by the explosion of colors in the market, with the origami-like entrance that catches attention of passerby. The floating boxes with vertical greeneries present a humble yet bold approach without overshadowing the icon. The industrial linear approach is inspired by the railway history of the Sentul Workshop.

A facade system inspired by the biological natural system, biomimicry. The rainwater harvesting facade mimics the plant stem cells that transport water from the root to the leaves. The dynamic rainwater downpipes dance along the tower opening up to skygarden, while transporting water to the storage tanks. it also functions as autorainshower to cool the building, solar shading, thermal buffer and act as illumination at night.

PIXELATED CITY UNIVERSITI MALAYA , KUALA LUMPUR [2014]
In view of the growing demand and scarcity of land, UM plans to seek for alternative and innovative high density student housing project. The site proposed is the existing Tunku Abdul Rahman Residential College and Tunku Bahiyah Residential College separated by the main road. The student housing is planned to house 4000 students with facilities which enhance the quality lifestyle of students in UM.

Pixelated City envisions the metabolism movement where every component and space of the building are adaptable and removable with modular system. Bridge Street is proposed as a new node of the site which also functions as student centre, suspended over the main road.

THE URBAN BIOTOPE PRECINCT 11 , PUTRAJAYA [2011]
The Urban Biotope-Farm Library is located in a residential area of Putrajaya. The main issues tackled is the spirit of community farm and Kampung in the area. Urban Biotope means a biological environment created in a city. The Farm Library emphasizes on the relationship between the environment, buildings and people.
The main library spaces are made up of modular cells of different height sitting on steel structure and connected by a ramp that facilitates the circulation of the community around the library. The space under these cells is a community farm and community centre.
Biomimicry is implemented with the anatomy of leaves as the main inspiration of the Urban Biotope. Leaf structure consisting of leaf stoma, epidermis, mesophyll, air space and vein are translated into spaces and sustainability features of the community library.
Vertical and horizontal farming of the library provide good natural ventilation and fresh air to the library. Sustainable modular construction allows future development. The library is said to be a biological environment and not a building as it seems like a sort of green oasis in the hardscape of the city.

The interior design of childrens library focus on the education of farm and food production which is the continuation of the main building’s concept. In this design, Lego is incorporated with the farm concept.
thematic cells below it, which are numerical cell, alphabetical cell and farm cell. These small cells are the place for kids to play and learn. The lowest farm cell has a slide connecting to the communal kids playground.
Playing is the building block of childhood learning. Creating a playful environment provides a condusive learning environment for the children. The Lego farm is made up of a main cell and 3

Tran[S]formacity is an adaptive reuse apartment located at a suburb, Bangi. It is hoped to transform the existing unlively building to a community with sociological, environmental and economical symbiosis. The existing structure is rejuvenated by changing orientation of units for good vent and natural lighting, foliage covering the building and social catalysts. These catalyst are supported by

portal frame to increase efficiency and avoid burden to existing structure. The community is brought together to practice healthy and active lifestyle. The transformation of building and space is also inspired by tetris game, which is adaptable to change and always transform to fit.

STRUCTURA DESIGN CHALLENGE | UDA HOLDINGS
DROPLETS OF ISKANDAR COMMENDATION AWARD [2015] Concept | Rain ‘Droplets of Iskandar’ is inspired by the site that is close to the sea with abundant rainfall throughout the year. A series of continuous pipe capillaries serve as the double skin façade that runs organically over the tower. The pipes function as rainwater harvesting downpipe transferring the rainwater from rooftop to the sky gardens and landscape on the ground with auto-watering system. The remaining water will be collected at the water feature of Central Park. The capillary pipes also functions as shading device where the east and west side of the tower has denser pipes to reduce the energy consumption of the building. When the sun goes down, the transparent capillaries will be illuminated with dramatic colours dancing in the skyline of Johore.
