UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS We are a school without boundaries. No dreams, ideas or goals are too big. We won’t tell you to choose A or B because you can have both at UAB. Choose to major in either Biomedical Sciences or Health Care Management then customize your selection of options.

SHP Honors This is your opportunity to experience real world team-based problem solving in community care. The interdisciplinary collaboration between both of our undergraduate programs will identify, research, solve and implement a solution in partnership with a community health organization. Those who complete all courses will graduate with SHP honors.

SHP Research This allows you to put your classroom learning into real world action. You will partner with an individual research mentor and learn in a team-based experience. You will also earn elective credit in your major. All students who complete this track will receive a Research Technician Certificate in undergraduate research.

Clinical Track-Dietetic Internship — on-campus or off-campus, this is an accelerated one-year program that enables you to sit for the national exam to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). Clinical Track-Prior Learning Option — offered entirely online, for those with an RD but not a Master’s Degree or practicum experience but not the coursework. Dietitian Education Track — develops highly trained entry-level dietitians through community partnerships, application of research, and the acquisition of knowledge and skills.

Undergraduates receive both their degree and full teaching certification in four years. BMD students who participate can earn certification to teach any high school science course.
