EDITORIAL The Beatles have always been a band that can divide opinion when it comes to music. But on a Friday night Captain America’s in Blanchardstown they managed to make a number of musicians ‘Come Together’ to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society. Last year’s event was a success and that was what led to the inevitable return of the event this year. The format of the night was one that followed a very simple formula. The performers on the night took to the stage and played two original songs. They then added to their set with their own interpretations of two Beatles songs. This in turn made for a very interesting night of music. As the artists played on the night the versions they played all had different significances which was then relayed into the various interpretations. It also showed the influence they had on the acts playing on the night because they all delivered committed performances. The line-up on the bill contained a good calibre of established artists who are currently playing on the unsigned music scene in Dublin. They were also joined by a number of local acts, as well as some other fine up and coming acts. What that made for here was an excellent night of music which we have now compiled into this special edition feature of U&I Music Magazine. The other aspect of what the night was all about was the fundraising. The amount raised on the night was a good total and showed how well organised the event was. When a good night of music can meet a great cause then it is already a success, but to raise money in the process is an added bonus. We are already looking forward to Bealtemania 3 next year.
