I have travelled, worked and lived in many different countries. My quarter-century voyage has given me experiences that I cherish and carry wherever I go. I have worked on multiple buildings, urban landscapes and waterfront projects. Each time, I have emphasised on making interventions at the existing problems through design solutions. The void space between the existing thresholds, inhaited by different people, plants and species has so much potential. Through my knowledge, work experience and skills, I aim to design spaces that could change the perspective of the void space that one inhabits.

00 THESIS Al Khor, Qatar Thesis project “Celebrating Culture through Structures”, submitted to the Architecture Department in Aligarh Muslim University (INDIA) for graduation. Qatar being a developing nation in the Middle East, has potential to revive the cultural heritage among it’s major population of the expatriates. A Cultural Centre has been proposed to be developed on this site by the Ministry of Interiors. Strategically located on the waterfront in proximity to the residential areas, this site provides opportunities to propose activities to connect and promote community engagement through culture.

The Cultural Center is placed in the center of the site with gallery spaces and auditorium. Each of the Education blocks flank the Cultural Center. The form of this structure is dynamic and derived from the waves. The octagonal halves help create segregated zones. The Mosque is designed with the concept of bio-morphism. The shell form is the outer structural membrane. Multiple folds of the shell generated cuts to make passageways providing access and letting light in.

I have devised and successfully implemented BIM conventions in residential and mixed-use projects, using Revit Architecture. - QIMC Headquarters : Prepared floor plans for a 38 storey high tower located in West Bay. Organised schedules for the interior doors. QIMC headquarters in the West Bay area of Doha, Qatar includes three towers, joined at the base, planned for hospitality, commercial and residential use. Through BIM and Revit Architecture, I prepared design options for the lobby area with alternative retail and office spaces. Using massing in Revit, I also prepared the glass installation for the double height atrium space.

This residential building (2B + G + 4F) is located in Fox Hills North District, Lusail, Qatar. The building is positioned with a minimal setback from the street to create a strong urban presence. Through BIM and Revit Architecture, I prepared schemtic design LOD 300 drawings and got approvals from the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, Qatar.

The encouragement of innovative start-up ventures, funded through private foundations and public/private initiatives, has been significant in the revitilization of Buffalo. This design project aimed on providing space for a Foundation which would venture capital for start-ups , incubator space and offices on a vacant parking lot.

Creating Spaces and Moments A huge garden space welcomes each person entering the Incubator. This concept is inspired from the Olmstead linear park system in Buffalo. Every startup is growing and linking to each other through the motion sensory walkways flanking over this enormous green space.

The Bio-tech program implies a biological metaphor, wherein complex and multivalent systems engage and interact as part of a unified organism. The central walkways connect two office spaces as inspired from the linear parks from the Buffalo’s Olmsteadian park systems.

03 [RE]stitching Scajaquada Highway Mapped an urban phenomena in the city of Buffalo by exploring different maps and looking at these with the different lenses of ecology, repurposing vacant parcels and making the streets accessible to people. Through this study, I emphasised on how the construction of a highway in Buffalo affected Land-Value, the Land-Use, the quality of life and other factors across the highway. 04 [CO]existence Articulating the Edge The western edge of University at Buffalo’s Main Bailey Campus presents a compelling urban condition.
ARTICULATING THE EDGE TRANSIT-ORIENTED DESIGN UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO, SOUTH CAMPUS
Here, the institutional scale of the campus is juxtaposed with the infrastructural scale of the transfer station and the residential scale of the University Heights neighborhood. While the space has a distinct civic character, it lacks a coherent formal articulation. Expansive surface parking lots on both sides of the street and the undistinguished commercial plazas exacerbate the sense of groundlessness. As a studio, we investigated formal startegies to orchestrate the issues at various scales in order to reveal and maximize their latent potential, for each site. I also worked on the extended version of the entire studio project during the summer of 2017. With Professor Erkin Ozay, and the UBRI - University at Buffalo’s Regional Institute, we developed a catalogue which documents the different projects in studio, pubished in University at Buffalo’s Master Plan during April 2018. The project [CO]existence is also featured in Intersight 2018, the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning student journal.

Through a drawing exercise, I built a deep understanding of the existing site conditions with their strengths and weaknesses. Introducing multiple entry points to the site, to reduce traffic pressure from the one-only existing main entrance at Main Street. Also, subdividing the land parcel into smaller units helped in reducing the traffic pressure. Each area caters to a different mixed-use program, hence further organizing the traffic flow.

THE UNIVERSITY PLAZA LIES IN THE GATEWAY CONDITION. IT IS AS A MERGER AS IT SITS ON THE CITY BORDER OF BOTH THE TOWN OF AMHERST AND THE CITY OF BUFFALO. THIS PLAZA HAS A PLACE IN LOCAL RETAIL HISTORY AS THE AREA’S FIRST SUBURBAN SHOPPING PLAZA. THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN IN THE LIGHT OF DISCUSSION WITH ALL THREE GROUPS, THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK, THE CITY OF BUFFALO AND THE TOWN OF AMHERST. IN 1994, ACCORDING TO BUSINESS FIRST, THE UNIVERSITY PLAZA WAS TO CHANGE HANDS; BENDERSON REPORTED TO BE INTERESTED IN THE STRIP CENTER. IN 1996, THE NEW OWNER WAS REPORTED TO BE CONSIDERING A COMPLETE CHANGE IN THE DESIGN OF THE PLAZA. BENDERSON - RICHARD A FRANCO PURCHASED UNIVERSITY PLAZA FROM CANADIAN OWNER MORRIS DIAMOND. IN 2017, THE UNIVERSITY PLAZA WAS SOLD AGAIN TO PHILIPS EDISON AFFILIATE FOR $13.5 MILLION.

05 WEAVING[IN] Sunnyside Sunnyside Neighborhood, Houstan, Texas 2017 Barbara G. Laurie NOMA National Student Design Competition - THIRD PLACE The proposal is based on the reclamation and weaving in of a derelict site in Sunnyside. Sunnyside is close to Houston yet with a declining population it is one of America’s most unsafe neighborhoods.

WEAVING[IN] SUNNYSIDE was one of the 20 competition entries in the 45th Annual NOMA Conference held in Houston, Texas. My role: I am the President of the NOMAs student chapter at UB. I also took lead and helped bring together the team and the work for the competition. As a team, we worked on the historical background, research and had multiple reviews with Brian Carter, the Faculty advisor of UB NOMAs. We presented at the conference and won third place for UB.

WEAVING[IN] SUNNYSIDE proposes a school consisting of a new academic campus, an athletic center and a cultural hub. The academic campus is at the centre of the site. The athletic center and cultural hub are alongside existing facilities - the public library & police station in the south and a community pool to the north.
A new ATHLETIC CENTER at the northern end of the site alongside existing baseball diamonds and community pool.
A new ACADEMIC CAMPUS at the heart of the site designed to provide indoor and outdoor learning spaces in SUNNYSIDE.
A new CULTURAL HUB close to the existing library and police station. Education woven with strands of workshops and community gardens. 37

NODES ON THE STRANDS FOR NATURE STUDIES, STORY TELLING, ART INSTALLATIONS & FIELD CENTERS
THE WEST SIDE OF THE SITE ENGAGES WITH THE CITY BY INTRODUCING AN ECOLOGICAL STRIP ACROSS THE HIGHWAY. FILTERS ARE SPREAD ACROSS THIS EDGE TO CONTROL AIR POLLUTION AND HUMIDITY.
THIS STRAND IS THE UNBUILT INFRASTRUCTURE . THE PUBLIC SPACE IS INTRODUCED TO THE SITE WITH A MULTI-USE STRATEGY. THE SPACE CAN BE USED FOR ART INSTALLATIONS, FOOD-MARKET OVER THE WEEKENDS OR OTHER EVENTS AND CONCERTS TO ENGAGE THE CITY WITH THE SITE WITHOUT ANY BUILT-INFRASTRUCTURE .

06 [ID]entity Connecting the Flats, Cleveland, Ohio Designing the Scranton Peninsula, located in Cleveland, OH
[ID]ENTITY A LAND REVITALIZATION ON A TOXIC LAND CLEVELAND, OHIO
Despite multiple revitalization attempts, the Cleveland Flats district remains highly fragmented due to an incompatible mix of uses, active topography, and environmental challenges. Through the design attempts in [ID]entity, Scranton Peninsula is envisioned to sustain itself as an independent entity, by creating ecological and urban cycles, benifiting the locals and the adjacent sites as well.
[ID]entity would also be an urban paradigm, a model that can be applied to other capped sites around the world.

Defining the Scranton Peninsula with an ‘entity’ EXPLODED AXONOMETRIC DRAWING 40
Benzoyl and Naphthalene being the major toxic wastes on the soil of Scranton Peninsula since 1945, CAPPING the site seemed to be the most obvious option. But, the capped sites should be inviting to the urban life. The Peninsulaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s history of industrial land use, its active railway and the water channel seemed ideal for the industrial stone to be dropped on the capped site. 1937

07 DIS[COVER] A Super-Greater New York As lower Manhattan has been reclaiming land since 1650, this reclaimed land has been the most affected with the storms, DIS[COVER] is aiming to weave a public-only spine into the water and the built fabric.
DIS[COVER] - REVISITING T. KENNARD THOMPSON’S 1918 MANHATTAN EXTENSION PROPOSAL NEW YORK, NY
The spine will work at different elevations from the ground as a protective barrier from the rising water levels and storm surges. At certain areas, the spine would become the node where public activities would take place, or an iconic River Museum could be located at the 60th street with the “New” New Jersey moment, where people can cross the state boundary hence making it a symbolic landmark in the coming years. While blurring the lines between the visible and the invisible, these varying landscapes wildly aim to blur the boundaries physically and visually between the water, the waterfront, the ecology and the people, hence making the Hudson river waterfront not only aesthetically appealing but DIS[COVER]ing a solution for the unforeseen threats that the waterfront could have. According to the NYC Department of City planning, both visitors and residents experience NYC as a waterfront city. Although having 217 publicly accessible waterfront spaces, these can be experienced only when you are in close proximity to the coastline. On a larger scale, taking a nodal approach, through DIS[COVER], prominent structures are installed at the designated nodes on the waterfront, most of them visible through the linear streets even from the East river waterfront. This will draw people from within the city towards the coast. As individual parts, these strategically placed installations will serve as identifiers, which would help people locate themselves in the city by looking at multiples of 10th street.

08 nuevo thres[HOLD] Adaptive Environment According to the demgraphics, the ageing American population is estimated to double from 65 to 98 million in 2060. The ‘NEW NORMAL(s)’ are this generation of older adults. Through this seminar, we explored the unique physical and perceptual world of the ageing population. By cultivating empathy and enabling embodiment in design practice, we prepared a series of Spatial Hybrids, ‘Wiki-thons’ and Prosthetic environments.
NUEVO THRES[HOLD] RETRO[FIT] TO DESIGN AN ADAPTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR AN AGEING POPULATION BUFFALO, NY
NUEVO THRES[HOLD] is an attempt to hybridize technology and the environment to support the ageing popultion. It promotes the idea of ageing in place by Retro[FIT]ting the exisitng places with designed fixtures, panels and elements. My role: I worked on the drawings and researched about how to create an adaptive environment for the ageing adults. I also documented the model and prepared the presentation boards for the New Normal(s) exhibition. Precedent study (project): Arakawa and Gins’ Site of “Reversible Destiny-Yoro Park”, a public park, completed in 1995. Precedent study (book): Arakawa and Gins’ “Architectural Body”

NUEVO THRES[HOLD] NUEVO THRES[HOLD] is about understanding and manipulating the surfaces in the interior and exterior environments with a simple push-or-pull mechanism, to challenge the body and mind. This is done so that the body does not familiarise itself with the existing and the obvious, but is rather looking forward to exciting and new experiences. The NUEVO THRES[HOLD] concept can be applied in any existing context. Hence leading towards an additional dimension of RETRO[FIT]. This space is designed for the Hippie generation or as we say, the Young-Old.
